Question: How about kicking off the New Year with a House scoop? —Christopher
Ausiello: I'm hearing something about a marriage proposal coming in the second half of the season. Also, remember House's loony bin lay, Lydia? There's buzz she may get a shout-out in the upcoming episode directed by Hugh Laurie. Let's hope Cuddy isn't within earshot!
Question: When Glee returns in April, will the storylines continue as if no time had elapsed,

'Chuck': A word from Captain Awesome

Ryan McPartlin's character on "Chuck" gained knowledge of his brother-in-law's double life at the end of last season. When the new season kicks off on Sunday (Jan. 10), Devin "Captain Awesome" Woodcomb will only get drawn deeper into Chuck's (Zachary Levi) spy world.
As a consequence, McPartlin gets more to do this season -- including a big story in the show's third and fourth episodes, scheduled for Jan. 11 and 18.
"It was really cool [that] they chose my character to be the one to enter the spy world next," McPartlin tells Zap2it. "And I have to say, Captain Awesome thinks he's ready for the job without any spy training or anything, and it's pretty hysterical to see what happens."
In the interest of not spoiling what does happen, we'll save most of McPartlin's comments on Awesome's espionage exploits until after the Jan. 11 episode. But I did get his thoughts on the following (and yes,

'Chuck' returns Sunday! How are we going to make people watch?

Good lord, I am excited for the return of Chuck.
Sunday, Sunday, Sunday! Before moving to Mondays. Because changing days is really good way to get people to watch struggling shows. It's almost hard to believe NBC is struggling with its ratings!
It's up to us, Chuckleheads: How are you getting your friends to watch Chuck? The challenge with some shows is convincing people to stick with it or to give it a second chance, but one episode of Chuck usually does the trick. The hard part is getting them to watch that first one. My strategy is to bribe them with snacks,

'Chuck' exclusive: Brandon Routh knows you might not like him

Brandon Routh says he's a pretty big fan of "Chuck," so he knows that his character this season, Daniel Shaw, is not destined to be popular with the show's die-hards.
"I was prepared," he told Zap2it when we visited the "Chuck" set in December. "I know that fans probably won't like me right away -- maybe never?"
And why is that? Well, Shaw -- who makes his first appearance in the show's fourth episode, airing Jan. 18 -- is a CIA operative who comes to Burbank to lead Team Chuck's operation against the Ring, the espionage network that's this season's big bad. And he just maybe, possibly could present an obstacle to Chuck (Zachary Levi) and Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski).
Want more of Routh's thoughts on his role? Click on the video below.

Twitter helped save "Chuck." Now, co-creator Josh Schwartz is finally repaying the tweet, tweet love.
Schwartz (who in his spare time also produces "Gossip Girl") finally signed up for the microblogging service today, assuming the handle @joshschwartz76. A TV producer on Twitter is hardly breaking news, but in Schwartz's case, his previous absence from the site seemed odd, given the role Twitter played in drawing attention to "Chuck" last spring when it was on the brink of death.
So why sign up now?

Yvonne Strahovski Dishes on Season Three of Chuck

As we inch closer to the season three premiere of Chuck (this Sunday on NBC!!!), we've heard a lot from Zachary Levi and Josh Schwartz.
But we haven't forgotten about the most beautiful reason many people tune in to this show: Yvonne Strahovski.
The gorgeous actress spoke with Fancast this week and dished on third season guest stars and more. A few excerpts are below:
On Brandon Routh as Shaw: "One of the things that’s similar is they’re on the same page at the professional level, as far as being spies, whereas Chuck is not as capable of protecting himself. Also, sometimes Sarah feels more comfortable talking to Shaw. Things come about as Season 3 goes along where you actually see some other similarities."
On what Chuck's brother-in-law knows: "Obviously they’re always going to be wary that somebody from outside of the spy world knows, and that

TV on DVD: "Chuck: The Complete Second Season"

With only a few days to go before the triumphant return of Chuck to the airwaves, Warner Home Video has today released the fantastic Chuck: The Complete Second Season on DVD and Blu-ray.
While its first season was sadly truncated to the writers strike, Season Two of Chuck found its footing amid a glorious mix of genre-busting action, intrigue, romance, and workplace comedy. While the series' first season nicely set up the universe of Chuck, introducing its core troika of spies and the soul-crushing monotony of retail work, the second season expanded upon those ideas, taking the series to dizzying new heights while remaining grounded and relatable. (Who among us wouldn't jump at the chance to escape the drudgery of minimum wage and spend time with super-spies?)
Broadening out the world created by Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak, Season Two of Chuck pushed hapless asset Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi

Big Mike Talks 'Chuck' Season Premiere

The much anticipated and fan-saved Chuck returns (finally!) this coming Sunday with it's season premiere, and then the following night moves into it's regular timeslot on Monday night. If you can't quite remember where we left off last season, be sure to check out "Chuck – Where We Are. Where We're Going" right here at TVOvermind.
Sci-Fi Wire recently spoke to Mark Christopher Lawrence, who plays the Buy More's (ex)Manager Big Mike, and got some great scoop on a few things to expect on Chuck in regard to the Buy More, Big Mike, and the fate of his Marlin.
When asked if Big Mike would be reclaiming his manager's position at the Buy More, Lawrence teased right back with, "Well, you've got to watch the first episode." So does this mean Big Mike might be back in charge right away? Sure sounds that way.
As for Big Mike's relationship,

'Chuck': Zachary Levi on the new season and being a 'wet noodle'

The set of "Chuck" is sparsely populated on the afternoon of Dec. 3 -- Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strahovski and Brandon Routh are the only actors working -- but there are big doings afoot nonetheless.
The trio is working on a pretty important scene in the show's 11th episode -- which I've promised not to discuss until the time comes. Fortunately, though, Levi took a break during filming to discuss how Chuck Bartowski adapts to having a new Intersect in his head, how "Chuck" fans helped save his job, and trying not to look like a "giant, wet noodle."
Q: What was the vibe like when you heard you were coming back for a third season?
Levi: I mean, it's amazing. It's really humbling. It's just a huge blessing to have a job, but to have a job that people care so much about that they'd give up their time and give

Hello fellow Chuck fans. As you all know, Chuck will be returning this Sunday night, January 10th at 9:00p Est, for a two-hour premiere, before settling into its normal time slot the following night, Monday at 8:00p. It has been a long eight months since we last saw our favorite accidental spy, so I decided to go back and watch last season's finale, "Chuck Versus The Ring," to refresh us all as to where we are currently, and where we are going.
*Chuck and now-Colonel Casey have quit the Buy More.
*Sarah has acknowledged, to herself, that she has feelings for Chuck (she refused to go to Zurich with Bryce), but hasn't told Chuck flat out.
*Awesome, now married to Ellie, knows that Chuck is a spy.
*Morgan is leaving California to go to Japan to become a hibachi chef.
*Big Mike is dating Morgan's mother.

With every new year comes a few constants in the world of TV. There will be another Superbowl, there will be many more award shows, and yes: Chuck will be back. It was iffy for a while whether or not Chuck would actually make a return, a whole bunch of fans and an even bigger bunch of Subway sandwiches may have helped them back in May.
Now that the celebration of another season has calmed down, we’re now getting into the reality that the show makes it’s return to NBC with a special 2-hour season premiere next Sunday. With that in mind, we’ve got just the thing to get you excited for the show’s return: three brand-new clips from the premiere showing off Chuck and his new Intersect powers.
Last we left the team, Chuck (Zach Levi) became the vessel for his once-missing father’s (Scott Bakula) newest Intersect,

We are now a mere seven days away from the third-season premiere of "Chuck," and we couldn't be happier.
Ok, that's not true. I wager that "Chuck" fans will be happier when they're actually watching the two-hour season premiere on Sunday, Jan. 10. Having seen the premiere and the Jan. 11 episode, I'll also wager that fans won't be disappointed.
The show handles the story-telling shift it set up at the end of last season -- Chuck (Zachary Levi) being endowed with physical abilities via the new Intersect, and really buying into the spy game -- really well. Intersect 2.0 alters what Chuck is capable of doing, but it doesn't change who he is, which means the heart of what has made "Chuck" so much fun is still intact.
We'll have lots of coverage of the new season in the coming week, including interviews with Levi and Brandon Routh, more from executive producers

NBC’s Chuck, the show about a reluctant spy with a supercomputer in his brain, struggled in the ratings throughout its second season. The sure-to-be-awesome third season of Chuck is nearly upon us, with the season premiere to air on January 10th. To give back to the fans, benefit the American Heart Association, and promote the new season, weheartchuck.com has organized Chuckfest. What Does 2010 Hold For 'Lost,' 'FlashForward' And Our Other Favorite Television Shows?

In 2009, we tried something new here on MTV Movies Blog. There's an abundance of television programming these days built around season-long and multi-season story arcs. The small-screen viewing experience is different of course -- no event blockbusters, 3-D (well... once, on "Chuck," and it was meh) or anything like that -- but a well-told tale is a hard thing to ignore. That's why we started covering a few shows with recaps, interviews and the like.
Well the TV is looking pretty damn good in 2010, so we'll be back with even more coverage. To get ready, ace contributor Josh Wigler and I sat down to consider a few of the shows we'll be watching in the coming months, commenting on what we see in store for them...

TV world never dies from evolving and therefore, one must spring up and another must end. This upcoming season of television will offer the final season of "Lost" which will serve as the conclusion of the whole mythical and confusing philosophy that the show presented in the past six years. In the other side, "Parenthood" is vying to be one of the best drama in television with its star-studded cast and the element of family genre.
While providing the cheat sheet of what shows will return when, AceShowbiz selects one from each month which is worth a stay at home. This includes "Chuck" that devoted fans have fought over Fall to stay on the screen.
