Trivia:
The top three candidates for the title role of Annie were Aileen Quinn (who won the role), Robin Ignico (who played Duffy in the film), and Angela Lee (who was told she looked too much like Aileen Quinn to play a lead orphan, but was offered a smaller role; In the Hard-Knock Life number, Angela is seen as an orphan sleeping). moreGoofs:
Factual errors: When Grace plays the harp in a big production scene, she plays it from the wrong side. moreQuotes:
Grace: Annie, how would you like to spend a week with Mr. Warbucks at his house?Annie: Oh boy! I would love to. I would really, really love to.

This is the first musical I've ever watched, and I must say that I compare all musical productions with this one from then on. I've never seen the original play, but I feel that the production was pretty splendid, and the casting of the girls were quite good. Though young, they all seem to be able to sing in tune and beautifully, and I just love the way Burnett acts as Miss Hannigan - a kind and non-violent kind of 'eveilness'. Overall, this is a superb production with an excellent musical score - I seldom buy movie soundtracks, but this was one where I enjoyed every single song, and can even sing some of them today despite having last watched the movie on video many years ago.
