Family Guy: Something, Something, Something, Dark Side (2009) Season 8, Episode 20

A big disappointment.

While Blue Harvest was very funny... TFG (Team Family Guy) blew it on this one.

It took me a while to figure out how they made this video not so funny. This Empire parody looks great... but thats about it.

As already pointed out, Peter/Solo insult and punches Lois Leia are out from no-where and serves no purpose. Compared to TFG episode in which Peter is on a Roadhouse craze and kicks everyone - including Lois, especially her the boob.

** Spoiler a bit ** Like Pete Solo cursing Leia, instead of the originals "I know"... saying something like "I love me too" would have been funnier, who knows, I'm not a writer.

The recent Robot Chicken 2.5 Special does a much better job with the same scene. You can see that yourself on adultswim's website.

Anyways.. back to HOW TFG failed.

Many of the lines in something something something (very un-funny stupid title) are right off of Empire. While Blue Harvest has almost no lines from A New Hope.

Like in Blue Harvest, when the Death Star Fire control guys are complaining about "not having a rail to lean against". Sorry, some guys pretending to do something didn't cut it.

What makes blue harvest and Family guy work is dialogue. Something Something has so little of it and totally ignores openings where they could have done something. Like when Chris Skywalker falls to the M.Falcon - there is NOTHING there. They could have had Chris fall into the arms of the ONLY black man in the movie and have him say "Who the Hell are you?!" - and trying to use his missing hand to hide his wallet. Anything! I bought this DVD sight un-seen. I thought I had missed it somehow on the local FOX channel. I wouldn't have wasted my $16 on this DVD. :(

Children of Men (2006)

The best thing I've seen from 2006...

When I look back at the movies I've seen in 2006 - which I sadly admit, I don't remember much - I had to LOOK at a list.

Hands down, this is perhaps one of the most powerful and best movies I have seen in years. It was finally released in the USA for general theaters last week and I had just left the theater about an hour ago.

No need to go into the details of the story as you may have seen in trailers and the movies description on this website. Mankind can't reproduce, its the end of the world, etc. There is nothing I can add that others and the description doesn't already say.

The characters are very real, nothing over the top. The direction of actors and photography is amazing. Both myself and a friend were both pulled into this movie, getting shocked, scared and tearful over the actions that people of the west have come to. But when there is no future, society would collapse. This movie will have many people thinking after the credits.

I have already called up a few friends telling them to SEE this movie. I give a 10 score for every aspect of this film (okay, a shadow of a mic got into frame for a few seconds). This movie does belong in the category for best film.

Serenity (2005)

Very Good SciFi movie

This is perhaps the best SciFi movie all year, finally... that I can honestly think of? Hope this shows how stupid FOX looks, AGAIN about killing of the Firefly series.

Everyone who has seen the DVD (I have lent them to several people) have fallen in love with it, many have bought their own DVDs! Now, the movie itself is NOT exactly GREAT compare to Firefly because its based on such solid characters and universe. It doesn't have the the story arcs of a TV series (look how well Joss has done with Buffy) Make sure if people start talking about the movie, and you haven't seen it yet - tell them to stop and walk away. What you will see is bigger sets and better special effects. Still, its the story and characters that count here. The first 10 or so minutes pretty much re-caps the setup of characters, but its needed for people who haven't seen the TV series... yet very well done still. Also nice is the walk-thru of the Serenity space-ship - very much like from the TV series. The inside is also better detailed.

Try to borrow or buy the DVD before the movie, it'll allow the characters to grow on you much more and the movie makes a lot more sense (Again, well done for those who haven't seen it)... its well worth the $35~45 for the box set.

To this day, the opening credits of the TV series and Movie puts a lump in my throat... is so good. ;) Even my new GF - who I had her watch the whole box set (she love it) sings or hums the opening song a lot ;)

Fahrenheit 9/11 (2004)

A movie for every American must see

Don't believe the lie, a lot of Texans don't like that that "transplanted" Texan known as the "bushes". He did nothing as Gov. of Texas and is abusing this country as they see fit.

Every American should see this, because not one single fascist conservative has the right the call this movie a "bunch of lies" which is what they love to say when anyone says anything against the "king".

Sad thing... many people will vote this moron into office again because hes a "Christian" - in which I replied to the person who made the comment "So is Kerry", hmmm that person didn't have a response for that... perhaps her little brain could figure out the logic of her reason to support a guy who can't say "terrorist" or "Terrorism"? Somehow I doubt it.

There is a lot of info missing in the movie, but its already a good movie with what it has. But nothing is "lies", most of the movie is footage and facts from govt themselves. Bush sticks his own foot in his mouth, Moore doesn't put words into anyone elses.

See this movie... to not do so, is un-American.

Remember: Hitler controlled the media and the people of Germany believed what they wanted to believe. To be faithful to a lie is only foolish.

But, there is a very good chance that Bush will steal the next election since the "new" voting machines are manufactures by a company that is "owned" but many high leveled republicans... such as Dick Cheney.

Watch this movie... Its funny, its sad, its SERIOUS at the same time... the people in the theater cheered when its over... but it won't mean much if America continues to become some "other" country not based on FREEDOM of Religion, expression and life.

Bad Santa (2003)

Dirty Funny Film

My mother begged me to take her to see this movie (Shes disabled) - needless to say, Its been a long time since I've laughed so much and so hard (so did she).

This movie is for adults, its very crude as it should be, a kinda ANTI-Christmas thing, which I kind of enjoy. The lines, the gags and the visuals are all top notch. No nudity, which I wouldn't have mind seeing - but of course that wouldn't help the film in anyway.

Some have posted that its a bad film... its not for everyone, its not for those who find Chrismas so "dear" to them. I don't care for the marketing craze of Christmas and this is a good release valve for all these "holiday spirits"... Come on' Christmas music before Thanksgiving?
