THR reports that Haunted Mansion director Justin Simien to set to helm Heist: Or How to Steal a Planet, a sci-fi crime thriller based on the comic series by Paul Tobin and Arjuna Susini.
The comic is “set on the planet Heist, home to billions of the worst criminals in the galaxy. The ruling pan-galactic government has no idea what to do with the planet, but a conman named Glane Breld and his band of thieves know exactly what to do with Heist: steal it. The story follows Breld on his madcap scheme to pull off the biggest heist in the history of the galaxy.” I’m not too familiar with the comic series, but that sounds like fun. Christopher Yost, best known for Thor: Ragnarok and The Mandalorian, will pen the script.
In a statement, Justin Simien said, “How To Steal Planet wowed me and I’m humbled...

One thing about Prime Minister Narendra Modi is that he knows how to keep up with popular culture. Just recently, Pm Modi took a dig at the leading opposition party, Congress, with a ‘Money Heist’ reference, and Ngl, it’s the coolest thing on the internet today.
Taking to his official X (formerly known as Twitter) handle on Tuesday, Pm Modi took a swipe at Congress over the record cash haul during tax raids at properties related to Odisha MP, Dheeraj Sahu. “Writing,” Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, screenwriter, and director David Mamet told Bill Maher on Friday’s Real Time, “is just making shit up.”
Mamet has made a successful career of that, creating such plays as Glengarry Glen Ross and Speed-the-Plow, and writing/directing such films as Heist, Wag the Dog and Hannibal, among others.
Now, he’s out with his newest book, a memoir and history called Everywhere an Oink Oink: An Embittered, Dyspeptic, and Accurate Report of Forty Years in Hollywood.
As one might expect from the title, it is loaded with caustic opinions on “the industry,” a term the abrasive Mamet loathes.
Maher brought up an anecdote where Mamet was once speaking to a class. One of the college students asked him, “What is the best thing I can do to increase my chances of working in television?”
Mamet had a ready solution. “Cut your d**k off and eat it.

Peter Cattaneo's feel-good film is based on one of the singing groups Gareth Malone founded in his hit BBC series The Choir - although Malone is wisely kept out of this picture. Instead the focus is firmly on a group of women on an Army base, who are grappling with fears about their husbands, who are on a dangerous tour of duty in Afghanistan. Structured largely around the relationship that develops between the posh colonel's wife (Kristen Scott-Thomas) and the more working class sergeant's wife Lisa (Sharon Horgan), the choir they set up to improve morale contains all the initial dischord you might expect. The plot might follow a familiar tune but Scott-Thomas, in particular, helps the emotional beats land solidly.

Oscar winner Al Pacino (The Godfather), Oscar nominee Viggo Mortensen (Green Book), Oscar nominee John Travolta (Pulp Fiction), BAFTA winner Shia Labeouf (Honey Boy), NBR Award winner Rebecca Pidgeon (Heist) and Golden Globe nominated singer and actress Courtney Love (The People vs. Larry Flynt) are set to star in the thriller Assassination, we can reveal.
The film, which Arclight is launching for the Cannes market, is to be directed by Pulitzer Prize-winner and Oscar nominee David Mamet (Wag the Dog) from a script he co-wrote with Nicholas Celozzi.
Assassination will retell the fateful murder of John F. Kennedy from the mob’s point of view, reimagining his death as a hit ordered by Chicago mob kingpin Sam Giancana as payback for JFK’s attempt to undermine the mob after they helped get him elected (that thread formed a big part of Oliver Stone’s JFK).
Script co-writer Celozzi is Giancana’s grandnephew.

Gandia and Arturo, two of the biggest villains on Money Heist, weren’t even in the second half of Season 5, but their negative energy could still be felt as the series came to an end.
Tokyo died taking out Gandia, and hallucinations of Arturo, whom she nearly killed, caused Stockholm to slowly lose her mind and turn to morphine and antipsychotics to make him vacate her psyche. Enrique Arce, who played Arturo on the wildly popular Netflix series known as La Casa de Papel in its native Spain, said being one of the baddies on the drama had its drawbacks.

In Netflix’s true crime docuseries “Heist,” director Derek Doneen chose to have an actress portray convicted criminal and former fugitive Heather Tallchief — a reveal he withheld until the very end of the episode.
Tallchief was convicted of stealing $3.1 million from Las Vegas casinos in an armored car when she was 21. She served 63 months in prison after turning herself in to authorities in 2005, 12 years after the heist. While concealing her identity was necessary to protect her from any potential retaliation from her accomplice and former partner, Roberto Solis, Doneen said the extremely late reveal also lets “the audience go along for the ride” and allows Tallchief’s story to shine without any distractions.
“Ultimately, I wanted the audience to feel immersed in the story. I didn’t want them questioning or second-guessing,” Doneen told TheWrap, adding, “Holding it to the end allowed us to meet the real Heather.”

Director Derek Doneen wanted to bring “more fun” to the typically grim world of true crime in his newest docuseries, “Heist,” which recounts real-life heists from the perspectives of the criminals that pulled them off.
“I’ve just been feeling a little fatigued by the darkness by most of the fare in the true-crime universe,” Doneen told TheWrap. “I was craving something a little bit more fun.”
When his wife pointed out the lack of heist stories in the documentary space, Doneen made it his mission to transport the high-stakes robbery story to the documentary genre.
“What really interested me was, can I access to the people who pulled them off?” Doneen recounted.
Turns out he could.
In Season 1, the docuseries follows three heist plots: “Sex Magick Money Murder,” “The Money Plane” and “The Bourbon King,” with each story told in two parts for a total of six episodes. And...
