More 'Nightmare on Elm Street' Casting

3 May 2009 11:48 AM, PDT | ESplatter.com | See recent ESplatter news »

Well, a "Nightmare on Elm Street" remake is being filmed right now. We might as well all learn to just accept it and move on. Here's the latest casting news. Clancy Brown has joined the cast of Platinum Dunes' "Nightmare on Elm Street" remake. Brown is a pretty frequent B movie actor who was in the miniseries "Carnivale" and more recently the film "The Burrowers." We also saw him in "Starship Troopers," "Pet Sematary II" and "Highlander." Meanwhile, Katie Cassidy has also joined the cast presumably as a beautiful blonde victim. She's joining Thomas Dekker and Kyle Gallner as young victims. Principal photography has already started on Samuel Bayer's remake which is due to hit screens April 16, 2010. »

SpongeBob SquarePants Invades Elm Street

3 May 2009 7:32 AM, PDT | HorrorYearbook | See recent HorrorYearbook news »

Clancy Brown who voices Mr. Eugene H. Krabs of SpongeBob SquarePants has joined the cast of A Nightmare on Elm Street 2010 as "Allan." Brown is relatively unknown but has had a long career appearing in many films such as, Highlander (1986), Blue Steel (w/Jamie Lee Curtis), Pet Sematary II and was the voice of "Hakon" in the Gargoyles cartoon. No word on what Clancy's role in the film is, but since he is one of the older cast members it is probably safe to assume that he is probably a parent or a cop. »

Clancy Brown Picks Up No-Doz For 'Elm Street' Role

2 May 2009 1:01 PM, PDT | bloody-disgusting.com | See recent Bloody-Disgusting.com news »

Bloody-Disgusting learned exclusively this afternoon that the great Clancy Brown (pictured inside) has been cast as "Allan" in New Line Cinema's reboot of A Nightmare On Elm Street. He joins the previously announced Jackie Earle Haley, Kyle Gallner, Thomas Dekker, Rooney Mara, Kellan Lutz and Katie Cassidy in the film being helmed by commercial director Samuel Bayer. Brown can be seen in J.T. Petty's The Burrowers, which hit DVD just a few weeks ago, along with Starship Troopers, Pet Sematary II and Highlander. The films' premise centered on Krueger, a serial child molester murdered by angry parents, who returns with a burnt face and a razor glove to terrorize teens in their dreams. Shooting begins in Chicago next week, with a release planned for April 16, 2010. »

Before the Oscars, They Belonged to Us, Part 3

Disclaimer: This article may contain sarcasm; irony and “LOLs” proceed with caution.

The Final Chapter (read Part 2 here)! We have Howard the Duck, Freejack and Shyamalan flicks on the list; these are never good signs. Nonetheless we are bringing it all to you in full-color and in 3-D. (Ed. Note: Due to the economy, 3-D has been dropped and will be replaced by Smell-o-vision — check for your scratch and sniff cards in about 4-6 weeks.) Best Sound went to rage-zombie veterans Ian Tapp and Richard Pryke, leaving Mark Weingarten who worked on Rejuvenatrix in the dust. The Sound Editing section contains one too many references to Ron Silver, and at least two references to a Roger Corman film.

The visual effects category pulled on our heartstrings this year due to the loss of Stan Winston, who was noted en memoriam along with other heroes, Vampira, Leonard Rosenman and Charles H. Schneer »
