I do not agree with the popular vote on this one. The acting was not bad. The movie simply didn't have heavy hitters in the line-up. I do not know why the Casting Director filled the line-up with B actors. Christian Bale was in over his head. However, he did a good job expressing his love for Adams. His role would have been better served by Philip Seymour Hoffman (RIP).
Bradley Cooper did the best job, IMO. The scene where he restrained himself from having sex with Amy Adams was completely believable. Cooper did a great job trying to put the "thing" together, but he seemed to lose steam towards the end. I'm thinking Andy Garcia would have been a better choice.
Both ladies did a fine job. In fact, they out did their make counter- parts in many scenes.
I thought the movie ran a bit long, but kept my attention none the less. In an era filled with CGI and Science Fiction, I thought this movie was a refreshing change.
