A very good movie... not great, but it could have been.... It's been written that enough footage was shot to make a ten hour version of the movie.. I think the great film is out there in those 10 hours someplace... maybe a director's cut on DVD will help.
STILL, it's the best and most accurate ALAMO movie yet made, incredibly well shot and some great acting. The look of the men was perfect, great costumes and dressing. Great faces, helped bring the story to life.
The big, long lead up to the battle didn't pay off enough... the battle was over far too quickly for a movie ABOUT the battle! The real fight lasted four hours, into daylight. This was not shown... it looked like the Texians lost the fight in 20 minutes.
Looking forward to seeing MORE of this movie on DVD... perhaps a better version, wouldn't that be a treat?
