It's another action series for Kiefer Sutherland, and honestly, good for us. We know it's what he does best. The "24" alum will star in a new Paramount+ series called "Rabbit Hole" — and the thriller's second trailer has just been released.
In the sneak peek, we become immersed in another action thriller in which a spy tackles disinformation and the overarching powers of government in the throes of a fight for American democracy. The trailer does well to keep you mostly in the dark aside from the show's general gist, but it seems that will aid in the intrigue they're setting up. The first look is an intense, fast-paced thrill, so it looks like no matter what, it'll be fun to jump down the rabbit hole of "Rabbit Hole."

Sutherland plays a character named John Weir, who has been described as a master of deception. Weir finds himself approached by a mysterious figure, played by Charles Dance of Game of Thrones, who tells him about the world he doesn’t know he’s in when he is “framed for murder by powerful forces who have the ability to influence and control populations.”

Kiefer Sutherland is back and channeling some Jack Bauer vibes in his upcoming TV series.
After a mysterious teaser trailer, the official first look at Sutherland’s forthcoming Paramount+ series Rabbit Hole reveals more about the 24 hero’s next leading role.
In Rabbit Hole, launching March 26, Sutherland plays John Weir, who has been described as a master of deception who is “framed for murder by powerful forces who have the ability to influence and control populations.”
The trailer (below) sees Sutherland’s John threatening a security guard with a remote-detonated bomb and then being recruited to save the world — something the actor is familiar with after nine seasons as a counter-terrorist agent on the Fox series 24. This time, however, it’s amid a backdrop of the world of corporate espionage and global threats of technology.

Kiefer Sutherland, the two-time Emmy-winning “24” star, said new projects like his upcoming “Rabbit Hole” from Paramount+ showcase television’s evolution via streaming, allowing for more room to play with mature content.
“The real difference for me on a show like ‘Rabbit Hole’ compared to the different iterations that television is going through — certainly from the beginning of ’24’ — is that we’re not as restricted in what kinds of stories we can tell, and we’re not restricted about how we tell them either, whether that be language or sensuality, or even violence,” the veteran actor said during the streamer’s panel at the Winter Television Critics Association press tour held at the Langham Hotel in Pasadena.
“Those restrictions certainly with streaming have been lessened, which is funny because I don’t find myself running around as this character swearing,” he continued. “But the options there, somehow it makes you feel different.

First ABC and now Netflix, Kiefer Sutherland's Designated Survivor is done after three seasons.
For the second time, Designated Survivor has been canceled. Netflix confirmed the series will not return for its fourth season. The streamer saved the show after it was canceled by ABC in 2018 following its second season.
The Kiefer Sutherland starrer was notable for its plagued production. The series had five showrunners over two seasons and Sutherland’s co-star, Nathasha McElhorne, left the show during season 2 to pursue another project. After ABC canceled the show, it was months before Netflix decided to pick up a third season, as well as purchase the streaming rights to seasons one and two for the U.S. and Canada.

Netflix will not be picking up new seasons of D.C. drama series Designated Survivor starring Kiefer Sutherland, or freshman adult animated comedy series Tuca & Bertie, headlined by Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong.
Netflix rescued Designated Survivor, picking it up for a third season last September after its cancellation by ABC following months of complex dealmaking. President Kirkman “really screwed” up his State of the Union address to the nation — but that doesn’t mean he’s ready to throw in the towel on his first presidential campaign. Just yet, anyway.

The migration of movie stars to television has resulted in some series that seem divinely ordained — from Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon in “Big Little Lies” to Billy Bob Thornton and Kirsten Dunst on “Fargo” — and others that feel significantly more random. “Queen America,” which forces an Oscar winner to tamp down all that’s best about her persona, is one of the latter cases. Catherine Zeta-Jones is a gifted star whose aura of outsizedness already feels difficult to contain on television — or, for that matter, on Facebook Watch, the finding-its-feet platform on which she appears on “Queen America.” In the series, a black comedy (or is it a drama with occasional jokes?) about the desperate hangers-on in the beauty pageant scene, Zeta-Jones feels constrained by the show’s sensibility and its sour lack of ambition. That she fights as hard as she can to avoid being sucked into the...

After very lengthy negotiations, Entertainment One has closed a deal with Netflix for a 10-episode Season 3 order to Designated Survivor, which will become a global Netflix original.
The Kiefer Sutherland-starring series will have a new showrunner, Law & Order: Svu alum Neal Baer, who had been tapped for the job last spring before ABC made the decision in May not to renew the political thriller. He is the series’ fifth showrunner. He and Sutherland are said to have hit it off and had been discussing the Season 3 creative direction while talks with Netflix were going on, with excitement among the show’s producers about what a premium version of the broadcast drama may look like.
The core cast of the series, including Sutherland, Kal Penn, Adan Canto and Italia Ricci, are set to return, with Maggie Q in talks to join them. Production on Season 3 is set to begin later this year for a 2019 premiere.
