Dolores Claiborne (1995)
The book was way better.
I would have liked this movie if I hadn't read the book first. The book is a complete narrative told exclusively from Dolores Claiborne's perspective. It gives an insight into her mind that a movie is not going to be able to replicate. The movie chops up the story and pieces it back together in a weird way. Also the storyline of adult Selena coming back to Tall Island is a total fabrication made up by the screenplay writer.
Mile 22 (2018)
Why do I keep watching movies like this...???!!
Mindless action and gunfire. Camera shakes causing motion sickness. Forgettable. It's hard to write a review because the plot is so generic and meaningless. Didn't even understand what was going on until about half way thru. Will never watch it again. Nothing more I want to say about it. Just want to forget it and move on. Oh, that's right I've already forgotten it. One last thing...if you want to know what it feels like to put your brain in a blender set on high speed watch this movie.
The Invisible Man (2020)
Not perfect but worth a look
The movie was entertaining and I do recommend it. It is 2 hours long but doesn't feel like it. Plot holes. Oh yeah. There's quite a few. I didn't think it was very suspenseful either. Even though the man was invisible, I could see the storyline coming from a mile away. I gave it a 5/10 rating because it is at least half way decent. The story is a parallel to "Sleeping With The Enemy". Character development is weak and it would have been better if the bad guy was more fleshed out. Without much detail of who and what kind of person he is the viewer ends up hating a generic "monster". So actually he was invisible in more ways than one. If you can forgive some of the contrivances that push the story along you will enjoy this movie.
The Expendables 3 (2014)
Best of Three
Third time is a charm. This movie hits all the right notes. It's still really cheesy and absurd, but there is no comparison between this one and the previous two. It's on a whole different level. It is actually enjoyable to watch. Just grab a bag of popcorn and press play. I still only give it 3 stars because the truth is none of these Expendables flicks are all that great. If these movies didn't exist we would all be just fine.
The Expendables 2 (2012)
Better than the first one.....but that's not saying much
The first movie was dreadful and the only way was up for this sequel. It is just slightly better. I mean let's get real....these movies are just plain goofy and I just can't take them seriously, not as an action flick or as a comedy....shoot I don't know where to place this movie except in the trash. EXP1 and EXP2 did accomplish one thing....it allowed the actors to get a paycheck. I guess that was the goal all along. On a positive note; There are good things to say about EXP3.
The Expendables (2010)
Wake me up when it's over.......zzzz
There is nothing in this movie that you haven't already seen a thousand times. Snooze-fest for sure. If you value your time avoid this and spend the 2 hours on anything else.
Doom (2005)
Low expectations will help you enjoy the movie better.
Sometimes I just want something to watch while I'm eating a bag of popcorn. Sometimes I don't want to have to follow the plot or think too hard while doing so. So for that purpose it is a great movie. The FPS scene was enjoyable. For awhile there I thought I was watching a zombie movie. It's not a good movie if you take it seriously or have high expectations.. I'd recommend it if you don't have anything better to do (like rearranging your sock drawer or watching paint dry)
Moving McAllister (2007)
Not a great movie, but it is watchable.
It kills some time and what better way to kill it than by watching Mila Kunis. She is very pretty. So it wasn't that good and the roadside "adventures" were batsh** crazy.......but in a way I kinda like it. However I don't expect I'll ever watch it again.
Bottom of the World (2017)
Bottom of the World ....meh
To be brief and to the point. This movie thinks it is more clever than it actually is. The acting is pretty good but the story and the constant going back and forth between dreams, flashback and reality is a gimmick that's just meant to confuse the viewer until the "great reveal". Not so great, in my opinion. This type of storytelling has been done before.
