This one is about the mark of a great director
10 May 2021
Like i said, this film is about the mark of a great director, in this case a well paced, well written, violent movie with a great choice of songs, a mark that Scorsese is known for doing so well, but this one here is not his best film (not saying it's bad, far from it) but definitely not the one he should have won the oscar for, in my opinion the film that the Academy should give his best director award, was way back for Raging Bull, also not forgetting that he wasn't even nominated for Taxi Driver, but anyway, judging this film, it have a great cast, full of good performances, especially by Leonardo Dicaprio and Mark Wahlberg.

Also, this movie is a remake of a 2002 Hong Kong film called Mou gaan dou, the second time that Scorsese did a remake, the first one being Cape Fear (1991).

Five Easy Pieces Review
5 May 2021
This film talk about a lot of important things in life, family, relationship, how we treat people that we should care more and how we treat ourselves, it also talk about the period it was made, it's all there, it's a deep film, for example, the song in the opening credits completely describes Karen Black character.

Jack Nicholson give a very good performance and the cinematography is also very good.

The Father Review
3 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Anthony Hopkins gives an amazing performance, one of the best in his career, is hard to decide who deserve more the best actor between him and Chadwick Boseman, i know is controversial, but i would vote for Hopkins.

Olivia Colman also gives a great performance, showing all the sadness a person would feel in this situation, but Hopkins is the one who elevated the whole material.

The ending scene is very emotional and sad, showing once again how amazing is Hopkins performance, when he cries asking for his mother who is obviously dead a long time ago, this just shows even deeper how much he's lost in the time of his own life, the scene also make us see that a person in his condition can feel like a helpless kid who lived a entire life and now is completely lost and confused, sometimes not even capable to remember who he actually is.

The Two Jakes Review

The Cinematography evokes some of the original film, but the story is very weak.

It's a cool trivia that Jack Nicholson and Al Pacino returned to one of their most famous roles 16 years later, both films from the same studio and both co starred by Eli Wallach.

The Godfather, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone Review
12 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
When i first saw The Godfather Part III with Coppola commentaries and he said that he want the film to be called The Death of Michael Corleone and it was a epilogue, even with him saying that he wanted to make a fourth one, being about a Younger Don Corleone at the time of World War II, and intercalating with Vincent Mancini who has become the new Don Corleone and will bring destruction to the family, but after Mario Puzo death, Coppola decided to don't go on with the project, the point is, the two original films that are basically one big movie, they are the major story and the third one being called The Death of Michael Corleone, is a much better title.

But judging this version of the film, this new editing took it off some key moments, they make a beginning that looks more like the one from 1972, repositioned scenes throughout the movie, for example the first scene of this new version only happens at the 39 mins of the original version, and the ending also took it off a lot of the emotional weight, when they don't show other memories of Michael's life, and about the death scene of the 1990 version, in this one he don't actually die, it is more like the death of who the character was, so to conclude, i prefer the original from 1990.

Great film with the crazy passion of a great director
13 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Great direction, screenplay, performances, soundtrack, cinematography, costume design, production design, all the things you can expect from a Tarantino film.

Also like others Tarantino films, only those who really have a extensive knowledge of films are going to really appreciate some things, like the Franco Nero scene.

Good film with a great over the top performance
30 May 2020
At this point in his career, Pacino was starting to change a little his acting techniques and still remain great, but it wasn't only a great over the top performance, he also portrayed a blind person like no other actor i ever seen it.

The movie is simple and good, Pacino is the one who elevated the whole material, the tango scene is great and the entire scene when Pacino gives his speech at the school is amazing .

Casino (1995)

The perfect picture of Las Vegas early days.
26 April 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Scorsese, De Niro and Pesci team up again for a amazing movie with unforgettable performances.

The film portrays Las Vegas at a time when it was dominated by the mafia, extremely well directed by Scorsese, that film shows Robert De Niro as manager of the Tangiers Casino who have to deal with his unstable wife that used to be a high-class prostitute but who can not forget her pimp Lester and with his childhood friend Nicky that is taking the city with extreme uncontrolled violence bringing a bad image to the plans that the mafia has in Las Vegas.

Sharon Stone definitely give the best performance of her career in this film and the secondary characters convey very well the image of the great leaders of the mafia.

Casino is a classic and a must-see movie.

A 70's classic.
24 April 2016
Warning: Spoilers
In his second and last collaboration with Sidney Lumet, Al Pacino give a amazing performance as a bank robber who don't planned his assault very well, actually do not want to harm anyone and reveal himself as a bisexual.

John Cazale also give a very good performance in one of his last films as a accomplice of Al Pacino character. The film transmits extremely well all the anguish, fear and fatigue of all the characters from the main until the supporting, especially in the parts that are fun. Charles Durning also gives a brilliant performance as the man who tries to bring balance to keep the negotiations between the police and the robbers.

One of the best performances of Al Pacino and one of the best Sidney Lumet films, Dog Day Afternoon is one of the best films from the 70's.

The start of one of the best movie partnerships.
24 April 2016
Warning: Spoilers
An amazing movie that talk about friends, family, business, and conflicts over religion.

Scorsese capture in a excellent way the New York of that time and also start to show the world what he could do, and Robert De Niro steal all the scenes he was in, giving one of the best performances in his career at a time when few people know who he was.

Harvel Keitel also give a good performance as a man in conflict with his attitudes, his work and the prejudices of the time.

One of the best films of the 70's and a masterpiece of cinema with one of the best director and actor of all time.
