Granny (1999)
Awful but funny
This film is so awful it is funny, not quite to Troll 2 levels of hilarity, but funny nonetheless. The acting is awful, the music is atrocious and the story does not make a blind bit of sense. The story revolves around a man dressed in an awful granny costume killing a bunch of people at a party. The death scenes are so badly done they are hilarious. One girl is stabbed repeatedly in the chest, but does not scream, try or defend or self or run away. She also manages to remain standing despite being stabbed repeatedly. Another death scene involving a rope is also extremely hilarious. No thought seems to have been put into the plot. The Granny seems to magically move from one area to another(e.g. be hiding under leaves in a woodland just where the victim just happens to stand, appears in front of someone even though it had been behind them ten seconds earlier), people kiss at extremely inappropriate moments(would you stop and kiss someone if you were being chased by a homicidal maniac) and the double twist at the end is utterly ridiculous, it seems they just threw it on just to confuse people. I would advise people to watch this film if they love awful horror movies like Troll 2, The Dreaded or Blood Gnome, but do not watch it if you are expecting a scary horror movie, you will be disappointed
The Dreaded (1990)
So bad it is funny
This has to be one of the worst films I have ever seen. I purchased this from pound land as part of a double bill with project vampire thinking it looked good, but it was awful. The acting is atrocious, especially from the girl who played the room mate Vicky, and the script sounded like it was written by a fourteen year old. Though the film did have the benefit that it was so bad that it was funny. At the end the bad guy is staked, it is so obvious that the actor is holding the stake in place himself. There is also the unintentionally hilarious scene where Vicky and her boyfriend are attacked. Overall I would not recommend buying this movie you are likely to regret it, but if it is on TV give it a watch just to laugh at how shoddy it is.
Em & Me (2004)
Sweet family film about loss and love
I bought this film for 97p in Tescos. It is a sweet tale of an old man who lives with his family after suffering a stroke. Feeling that he is a nuisance he leaves the family and sets out on a journey to visit his wife's grave. On his journey the old man meets a range of people and touches their lives, these include a young college student, some bank robbers, a gay couple and their drag queen friend. In pursuit of Ernie is his worried daughter (Mary Mara) and his granddaughter Emily(Danielle Harris) who shares both her grandmothers name and looks. This film is a very nice heart warming tale. It is obviously either very low budget or a TV movie but is very enjoyable. The acting is fairly decent. Not excellent but a nice film nonetheless.
