Fear X (2003)
Incoherent, and Boring
Fear X intrigued me when I first saw it in the video store. I don't know what it was that caught my eye. It certainly wasn't the incredibly cheesy title. It was probably because John Turturro was in it, but after this film I will probably never see another one of his movies.
The film centers around a man who's wife was killed in what seemed like an accident, but visions tell him that it was murder. The problem with this film is that you can't tell what is going on from one scene to the next. Very few of his visions relate to his wife, most of them seem like random trips, and the clues he picks up don't connect.
Not to mention that this film is just flat out boring. I don't mind films with slow plot lines, but this movie is the cinematic equivalent to Valium. I found myself falling asleep during this move, and it was the middle of the day. I had also gotten a good nights rest before, and I hadn't been very active that day either.
The cast gave good performances, but their talents were wasted on such a horrible, and insignificant film. Avoid it at all costs.
The Parent Trap (1998)
Delightful, Grade A Family Film.
Disney might be falling down on the job of making family films that actually interest the whole family, but every so often they manage to make one that shines. "The Parent Trap" is one of those films.
In this remake of the 1961 classic, 2 twins Hallie and Annie (Lindsay Lohan), were separated at birth, when their parents divorced. They are reunited, by chance, at summer camp. The two of them quickly hatch a plan to reunite their parents by switching places. The problem is their father has met someone.
Hilarity ensues through the film as these two charming girls make mischief. The cast delivers an amazing performance. Lindsay Lohan does an excellent job in her debut role.
No film, however, goes without its flaws. This film had very little of those. The only people who would notice them are fans of the older film. The problem is, when you break it down, the film is a modernized version of the 1961 film, with a new cast. The film doesn't introduce a lot of new plot turns. There is a tidbit here, and there, that is different from the original. But all it truly is, is an updated version.
Still young Lohans charm, Dennis quads superb acting, and the talents of the rest of the cast earn this film ti's A+.
9 out of 10
Doug (1991)
Damn i miss this show.
This was such a great show. Back when i was a kid it was one of my favorites. Nickeloden gave quality programming back then, and this was one of the greatest. Back when i was a little first grader, i couldn't wait to see what Doug would get into next, and even reruns held the same funny sorta feel to it. They were a;ways funny no matter how many times i watched them.
I Really Miss this one and wish nick would put it back on or make a DVD or something. It would just be not right. It still lives on in all our hearts though, i am sure of it. This show holds so many memories for me and i am out of ways to stretch this comment out into 10 lines.
Primer (2004)
A wonderfully Done Sci-Fi thriller that will sprain your brain.
I LOVE IT! A movie has never, EVER made me think so much. Primer is a wonderful, original film, that will keep you guessing about what is going to happen, as well as wondering about what just did happen. But that, by far, does not mean you will have trouble enjoying this film.
The movie jumps around a lot and therefore you will be wondering what is going on in one scene to the next, but that adds to the amazing plethora of information and entertainment that is Shane Carruth's masterpiece. This film left me amazed, happy, and and awestruck with its minimalist methods, and excellent and compelling storyline.
TWO THUMBS UP, 10 OUT OF 10. Absolutely ASTOUNDING!
Black XXX-Mas (1999)
Stupid
MASSIVE SPOILERS AHEAD! OK the movie in a nutshell. so this girl goes out buys drugs gets pulled over by a cop, the cops name is Wolf. the cop feels her butt, then he eats her...okay? he beats her up and eats her. then this woman is at home and this guy come with bulging genitals and he does her up. then the woman goes into the other room and this black guy is there and she undresses.....then the movie turns into a porno. he starts sucking on her breasts, then she gives him head. then wolf walks in with blood all over him and says "honey I'm home" then he realizes his wife is blowing some black guy and he kills her, the black guy kills him cuts the girl out of wolfs stomach and the go home. the end and they lived happily ever after. THAT IS THE MOVIE.
now after reading this do u really think there is anything to like about this movie. the only thing i liked in the woman had a nice body. but the performances sucked, the story sucked, the dialogue sucked, THE WHOLE MOVIE JUST SUCKED!!!!!
The Box Man (2002)
Strange little film, but well scripted and entertaining.
I was not sure if I had included spoilers or not so just to be safe i put up the warning.
I came across this film one day while surfing around the internet. IT's a stop motion animation about a man who is simply minding his own business one dark night until he comes across this box along the side of the road. He is curious and examines the box only to find a pair of eyes peeking out of the slit. THis frightens him very much.
Brilliantly animated in stop motion, and well edited "The Box Man" Tells a story of paranoia. It tells a story of what we do to keep safe, and of what a man is capable of when cornered. The Light tone is just right to tell the story and the characters are sculpted beautifully. I Suggest you find it, it is somewhere on the internet, i forget where. it is an interesting film. my vote 9/10
6ix (1999)
Wacky Comedy with a weird twist at the end.
What is there to say about this movie. It's insanely brilliant in it's own way. THis guy, Nathan, wakes up in the morning to find he has this weird mark behind his ear. Upon closer examination he finds out it is a number...# 665. Upon calling his mother he finds out his father was number 664, and he fears what his sons number could be.
This movie is very funny, not only does the actors antics make this movie what it is, but also the hidden puns that the movie contains. Most of the humor, however won't be understood until the end (which i wont reveal). You will have to see the movie yourself (i suggest doing a gaggle search) and form your own opinion, however i found 6ix to be quite an entertaining little film, full of slapstick comedy and witty humour for all to enjoy.
Cube (1997)
Coulda been a Crapfest. Shoulda been a Crapfest. Woulda been very hard to not make it a Crapfest. And guess what...IT'S NOT A CRAPFEST AFTER ALL.
This is a good movie. it has it's bad points as do all movies. but in the end its good. the idea is in truth original. but it is hard to make an idea like that into a good movie with decent acting. its hard to build up the idea. once you give them the idea and lead them through a few rooms, it all starts going down hill and gets boring. But this movie is not like that. this movie provides enough twists to get you through the whole 90 minutes. the acting isn't bad either. Nicole De Boer is excellent, and Maurice Dean Wint is perfect for the lead role. Not a lot of bad points either. its minimalist. doesn't cost much. which in some cases adds to the creepy effect. some characters you will fall that its a shame that they killed off. but thats about it. advice from me: View and Be Amazed.
THX 1138 (1971)
Wonderful Movie from one of the greatest Directors of our time.
When i sat down with my popcorn coke and my rented version of the original a few months ago, I had no idea what i was gonna get. I had heard good things so obviously i knew i would enjoy myself. But after the movie ended i found myself watching it again. I had no idea it would be that good. George Lucas. Not only surprises, but manages to thrill, chill, kill and tug at the heart strings. All these wrapped around a perfect society concept set in the future who would have thought. Excellent. I recommend this movie to everyone and anyone. Even if you hate Lucas hate science fiction hate movies hate life. SEE THIS MOVIE!
AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004)
Good, but only after you think about it for a while.
What always annoys me about sequels and spin offs is the amount of people i know are there, that see the movie so that they can say how terrible it is. The truth is every film (even the originals) have good points and bad points. Nobady can see good points of a movie immediately after viewing. You need to think about the movie to realize it's good points. The good points of this movie are. Great special effects, awesome environment, and (the reason we all came to see this movie) The aliens and the predators duking it out. The alien and predators designs weren't that bad either. The weapons stayed the same as well besides a modification in the razor disc. I had been anticipating this movie ever since the jaguar game came out. And i was pretty happy with the results myself. The casting could have been better and the could have reserved the F-word for the ugly mother F---Eur line. But these things can be over looked. When it comes down to it, you wont appreciate this movie at first glance. You need to see it again and think of the good points, in comparison to the bad points and form your own opinion. My opinion is as follows: This movie is F--k Awesome.
