If you've played GTA V and ever wondered what a movie of it would look like, this is pretty much it, complete with a bank heist that turns into a high-powered shootout, a Latino gang, and a pursuit through highways and city storm drains (with helicopters too, of course). Kudos to the filmmakers for bringing that to life, but what GTA V had going for it that this movie does not is good writing. It's way too long and by the end the "plot" has been rendered pointless.
The movie hinges on keeping a cop alive so one of the robbers can give his wife the money she needs for surgery with a clean conscience. However, in the process of keeping the cop alive so they can deliver the cash, at least a dozen other cops and a warehouse full of Latino gang members are mowed down. Hard to feel "good" about a now single mom who will undergo cancer treatment while her husband goes to prison and at least 20 people got murdered. (Pretty sure the only person who walked away from this movie feeling good was Jake Gyllenhaal, who apparently banked $2.5 million.)
Worth a look, but playing GTA V all over again instead would be more enjoyable.
