Bully (2001)
hot movie about revenge
*********CONTAINS MANY SPOILERS**************
This movie is a hot one!!! It is based on a true story, and is filled with violence, (mostly) female nudity, explicitly sexual acts, and revenge.
When a teen aged girl is raped, she and her friends plot the murder of the rapist, to the extent of hiring a guy who is "supposedly" a contract killer, but seems to me to be nothing more than a wanna be.
The murder plot goes well (my favorite part of the whole movie, which got me extremely excited) and the group of murders and accomplisses seems to be doing everything right to cover their tracks; but then, one by one, they start to tell the story of what happened to people they should not be telling, people who are by nature blabber mouths, thereby condemning themselves to their fates.
They are all caught (what a downer) and sentenced. 7 years, 11 years, 14 years, life, life, life, and death by electric chair....
Note to any teenagers who see this movie, do **NOT** try to imitate it!
Prayer of the Rollerboys (1990)
in the genre of "Class of 1999", this movie kicks but!
I saw this movie shortly after it came out in 1991, and I immediately fell in love with it.
This movie takes you to the worst place possible: the not too distant future! In this future, the government has failed, and there is total chaos in society. There are hardly any jobs left, you have to pay even for basic education, Harvard has been relocated to Japan, homeless shelters have become homeless CAMPS (which look like prison camps), and the pizza guy delivers the pizzas with an M-16!
A gang called the Rollerboys is "buying back America, one piece at a time". but in doing so, they are sterilizing the populace with a drug called "The Rope". The Rollerboys talk about "The Day of the Rope", which is the day they say they will get even, and hang all their enemies. The Rollerboys are a prejudiced group, and their enemies are those who are not white, and those who are too weak and who take their drugs.
It is left up to the pizza delivery boy (Griffin, AKA Corey Haim) and what is left of the governmental agents to stop this madness, and to capture the leader of the Rollerboys, Gary Lee, before he can do any more harm to those that Griffin cares for.
This movie is a great combination of the movies Solar Babies and Class of 1999, with it's own twists....a must have for any one who is a fan of bleak futuristic movies!
Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi (2001)
Could not take my eyes away
I just saw this movie for the first time tonight with my girlfriend, and she does not even like animated movies, let alone movies with subtitles, even if they are in English.
However, even she was spellbound by this movie!
It had great animation, great computer generated special effects, and a great story line, and was reminisent of many different flavors and varieties of mythology.
While watching this movie, I had great memories of the Books Of Magic comic books, memories of my younger years playing Dungeons and Dragons, memories of all the different fantasy and fable books I have ever read, and much much more...this movie is a definate TO OWN for me.
Rating: 9 out of 10 stars
Independence Day (1996)
WHAT AN EXCELLENT MOVIE
I have seen this movie countless times, in fact, I am watching again now, which prompted me to write this...
I personally love this movie, for it's patriotic themes, it's conviction against greater forces, and it's great actors.
On a scale of 1 to 10, this movie is definately a 10 and a must (repeatedly) see movie, if for nothing else than at least for the excellent special effects.
The movie begins with scenes of the moon, and fore shadows the impending danger to follow with the darkness of space; there after, the scene looks to the earth, and the aura of doom is presented once more.
When the first strike begins, the action barely stops from there.
In my opinion, the best scene is this movie is when the president addresses his fighter pilots, and give the speech of how "We will not gently into that good night".
Once again, this movie is a MUST SEE...
Halloween: Resurrection (2002)
what a waste
***SPOILERS*** ***SPOILERS*** This evening (July 26th) I saw Halloween Resurrection...I would now like that 90 minutes or so back please, since the movie was such a waste of time and money.
Busta Rhymes played an angry role in this movie, as do most rappers turned actors, and the movie was just totally pointless to me. It actually reminded me of many a slasher flick from the late 80's and early 90's, even a few memories of the Scream movies came back to me while watching this movie...how sad this series has become when it must copy old and tired themes over and over again....
Was this the last movie starring the character of Michael Myers?
I hope so.
**************POSSIBLE SPOILER**************
What I thought was odd was that since Michael Myers had his head chopped of in the last installment of Halloween (H20), so why then was he back in Halloween Resurrection? And, why is the mask never taken off? This seems to be a reoccurring event in all of the Halloween movies...
My opinion, and that of my fellow movie goes was that it was a copycat killer, especially since Jamie Lee Curtis played such a small part in this movie.
However, we will not know until the next installment (involuntary shudder), but perhaps in the next installment there will be no Jamie Lee Curtis, and perhaps Michael Myers WILL FINALLY die...if that is the case, then I hope Mike's final appearance is better then Freddy's...
Signs (2002)
what a waste of time
I watched this movie tonight, and I would just like to say that my opinion is that you should not waste your time or money seeing this in the theaters. I sat through this movie and laughed a few times, but the movie was so anti-climactic, that is was a huge disappointment. I really did expect better from this movie, but it was not what it was portrayed as, and that is a SciFi movie about Aliens and crop circles.
I watched it with my 10 year old daughter, it was enough to get her heart beating fast, but not mine. My humor had worn out, and so had the movie. Do yourselves a favor, and watch it when it comes to video or pay per view.
*****DEFINITE SPOILER*****
There is this part where Gibson is in the house of the man who accidentally killed his wife. An alien is trapped in the pantry closet. Gibson uses a large shiney kitchen knife to look under the door, but the alien grabs his hand, and so Gibson chops off a few of the alien's fingers...that was about the coolest part of the movie...other than that, I give the movie a 6, but it more deserved a 4.
