Lost Boys: The Thirst (2010 Video)
5/10
MUCH better than part 2
20 October 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Mild spoilers contained. Having sat through the wholly underwhelming second movie in the Lost Boys franchise I was really not expecting much from the third movie.

However, despite a few flaws the film was actually very entertaining. Corey Feldman is clearly having a blast playing Edgar Frog again and his enthusiasm seems to bleed (no pun intended) into the other actors performances as everyone looks to be having fun regardless of their acting ability (and trust me, some people's acting in this is pretty bad in places).

It was great witnessing the return of the Frog Bros after having Edgar flying solo in the last movie and the film really is at it's best when they are together on screen. This leads to the biggest flaw in the movie, Alan Frog just ain't in it enough, he spends a massive chunk of a pretty short movie totally absent from the action which kinda sucks (again, no pun intended) for a movie that heavily promotes the return on the Frog Bros.

They also explain what happened to Sam Emerson and why he's not around which pays respects to Corey Haim at the same time and was a nice touch that was far better than the shafting he received in the second movie.

Production values were good and on the whole looked a damn sight better than the last despite a smaller budget this time around. However I must admit to not liking the vamp make up too much but again, it was better than the bat-like make up from part 2.

The action sequences are good, there's some decent gore in places and the humour on the whole works nicely.

After seeing this, I am all for the continuation of this series. Roll on Lost Boys 4!!!

pretty good!

Now, I would like to start by saying that you don't actually get what the title and box promise as jason does not arrive in manhatten until the last 35 minutes of the film. However, what you do get is one of the better sequels in the series set on a cruise ship for the most part and alot of screen time given to jason [always a good thing]. Kane Hodder is back as jason and gives his most menacing perfomance to date from the three films he had starred in up to that point. Despite some negative reviews and complaints about a low body and gore count, the film stands out for being the only film to take jason away from crystal lake, and is all the better for it. Anyway, the body count is high enough [clocking in at 20 kills, the second highest of the series if i'm not mistaken]and some kills quite inventive, one of the best being the boxing match on a new york rooftop. True the gore is low compared to previous films but there is enough to satisfy. The film also moves at a fast pace jumping straight into the action, after a small flashback sequence jason is re-animated by an electrical shock from an underwater power cable and begins his killing spree. There are some complaints about the film to be made though,1] like the fact that on a number of occasions jason seems to be able to appear in different places at the same time, Example:Jason appears at one end of a hall to scare a soon to be dead teen, said teen turns around and runs down a set of stairs to another floor, turns a corner and there jason is ready to kill. 2] The part of the bitter uncle was also annoying and deserved a much more gruesome death than he got. 3]not enough nudity[come on, this is a jason film and I expect major boobage]. 4]I missed Harry Manfradini's classic music score. On the plus side, Jennson Dagett is REALLY hot [the hottest heroine of the series]and gives a good performance. Jason is in this movie alot [a mistake made by jason goes to hell was to not not have him in it for most of the movie] So to sum up I would have to say that this is on par with part 6 for being the best of the sequels [have not seen jason x yet but i can't wait]and most certainly not as bad as some people would have you think. 7.5/10
