Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002 Video Game)

The Game

GTA: VC is nothing short of a masterpiece. The cast, the theme, the play. It all fits so well, the closest a game has come to being a complete life replacement. I had only played this in limited amounts when it first came out and wasn't really hooked, I then bought San Andreas for PS2 and decided to back track to Vice City for PC. Low and behold it contains an aura that San ADreas does not. The soundtrack fits the game like a glove, the map is quiet a lot like Miami and the fashions and vehicles available just made it near perfect. One thing different from San Adnreas is that Tommy Vercetti is a winner, he is respected, whereas Carl in San Andreas is always battling for it for some reason, Tommy just seems to be a tougher character, and his rise and rise throughout the game confirms this.

I guess there is a fault with this game, it came to an end, eventual I suppose, but it did not look open for a sequel, perhaps Rockstar can throw us back to the 70's?, imagine it, GTA: San Francisco

2 Fast 2 Furious (2003)

Being a car enthusiast, I am dismayed at these movies, NOS appears to deliver the ultimate punch when ni reality, it cant without causing near instant damage. Apart from that, these little modified "ricers" going around thinking they can hope to match the "classics" (some of the classics weren't that fast) is absurd. I drive a V8 to college everyday, it has enough power to dust off most of the junk in this movie, and even more untapped potential that will soon be realized, livnig in Australia, I am dissapointed there wasn't an Australian car in the film, it would have amazed many Americans to see something like a 1971 HQ Monaro with its supercharger hanging ut the bonnet screaming its head off against little ricers, or even a Ford Phase 4 Falcon with a top speed of 170mph blasting off into the night. Hell, the nwe GM Australian clubsport R8 or Monaro GTS would have provided more than the "ricers" could handle.

Risky Business (1983)

If only it happened to us all

Risky Business is quiet a good movie, Tom's "natural" acting style hasn't fully surfaced yet, but his acting is still quiet respectable. When Cruise's parents go away for a while he follows the advice of a friend to get a hooker and hold a party. He gets a hooker, which is another man, gets the right hooker, has a good time, has his life thrust into a series of problems and only just manages to sort everything out. Along the way he learns some valuable lessons about the real world and what it takes to make things "happen". All up, a very good movie that will hopefully find its way into my DVD collection very soon, 9.5/10 stars.

This movie is nothing but a parade of useless "how good are we" propaganda, it amkes me sick to think people actually say and write that this movie is good, it doesn't even deserve my comments, it doesn't deserve to see the light of day. To compare this to Platoon is like comparing lobster to crayfish, with Platoon the lobster, this movie could never have risen above its creptacular level of under achievment, Mel, remember when you released all them movies one after the other in the 90's and nearly killed your career?, this is WORSE than that!

Mannequin (1987)

I doubt that this is one of the best films ever made, but it is without a doubt one of the better films of the eighties. The acting from McCarthy and Cattrall is superb and the soundtrack is also credible. There are some bad points, but they only show if you analyse too cynically. Some call ti the seminal eighties movie, and rightfully so with many decade references and costume get ups, (think Hollywood Montross, and the scene where Emmy and Jonathon dance there way through the store) All in all a good movie, worthy of 4.5 out of 5 stars

National Lampoon's Animal House (1978)

There are some movies that just dont need an introduction, this is one of them. Why is it then that I have to tell many people who see this cover on the shelf that it is one of the funniest movies of all time, not trash. This needs a theatrical re-release, the people need to know how f%&%^ing funny this movie is, who dare say its overated?, whoever that was needs nutering becaue they know not what they say.

Dead On (1994)

Dead ON is an erotic thriller, apparently. Its not really a thriller in the sense of the word, but it is quiet a decent movie. Matt McCoy plays hsi character very well and the acting is of a high standard despite the limited script they have been "blessed" with. It has a good plot and some really sleazy sex scenes, just what we are all looking for in a movie really. all up 6/10, worth a look if you like Matt McCoy, worth a look if you like soft core porno.

The Breakfast Club (1985)

The Breakfast Club is a decent movie, however, it is not the groundbreaker you think it is. Its circumstances, impossible, its dialogue, cringeworthy at times, its characters, stereotypical. Why do people say its so good then?, I hear you cry, "Well"I say as I sip my tea, "When a lot of people read the same thing and hear it over and over, they tend to agree, not disagree, thats why you are being told the truth now, that it is in fact only 5 out of 10 material. Not quiet down there with Class and not quiet up there with Secret Admirer (DVD out 7th January, YESSSS, and its about time), its somewhere in between, but, hey make your own decision Billy", "Ok mister, can I ahve my ball back now?", "No, now bugger off".

Fraternity Vacation (1985)

Good for some laughs and 80's kulcha

White suits college and chicks, the s***, shame for many of us this only a fantasy. No where near believeable, this movie dishes out a lot of crap for us to try and swallow, it was shallow and amterial, I loved every second of it

Not Another Teen Movie (2001)

Having seen 16 Candles, Pretty In Pink, Ferris Buelers Day off, The Breakfast Club and just about every film John Hughes ever made, I was able to appreciate this movie for all that it really is and make comparisons with the original. Absolute hilarity from the very beginning as it takes of 16 Candles except everybody remembers when, in this case, she would have wanted them too forget.(Vibrator incident) What follows is a slant on everything Hughes ever made "We are all just one big group here at John Hughes High, now everybody break off into smaller groups, take a good look at the people next to you, they will be your only friends for the next 4 years". this movie made me laugh and laugh, I dont know how some of my friends who haven't seen any Hughes movies except for Ferris Buellers Day Off would find some parts funny, but thats what you get for not watching fine movies, "Human recastranant!!!" Score: 9/10 (lost 1 point for the grandma kiss and the fact it didn't rip on Some Kind of Wonderful)

Commando (1985)

I am resigned to the fact that this movie is no work of art, but its not the worst movie I'll ever see either. I don't rave about it, aprt from the fact the opening credits really suck, but I dont be-little it either. Some action, meduim quality comedy, storyline and some kind of plot and C Thomas Howell's EX-wife Rae Dawn Chong, thats its features and so on and so forth.

Totally awesome movie with a totally awesome cast, putting this entire cast together again today would not be possible, there arent enough $$$ around, so it is pure luck that most of the cast had not yet reached their "commanding figure" stage of their career. I wrote the review for this a Fast Rewind so I'm not gonna write it again, I am going to simply say that it is well worth your $$$ for the DVD or VHS if you can get it (out of print as of 31st March 2002). Many funny moments which occasionally allude to a deep plot about what its really like out there, as I just graduated year 12, I can vouch for this movies validity, it all really does go on, except we dont look as good when we do it and we cant command sex the way these people can, and we tend to be prosecuted for having a bootfull or weed and so on and so forth. VERDICT= you cant make a time machine, make yourself younger and go back to the early 80's (although if we did I doubt it would be as we remember it or as it appears in these vids) but you can watch this video in a dimly lit white room on your big screen TV wearing a tight Rusty shirt with tight black jeans and a Marlboro in the mouth and feel like you are at the theatre all those years ago. Watch this and Secret Admirer (also highly recommended by me) one after the other and you'll see it works. 11.5/10 stars

Degrassi: The Next Generation (2001–2015)

Why oh why has this ever seen the light of day, I loved the original Degrassi (those crazy Canadians). Why am I so disapointed in this then?, because it has failed to embrace the spirit of the original in any way shape or form, what has been left is a "pop corn" version of the original. They could have at least used the original location for christ sake, I watched this and it acted only to re-inforce how good the original was, other than that "eeeeeeeew this sux"

Degrassi High (1987–1991)

Truly great

I was lucky enough to see this the first and second time it was on air!, although the first time I had little idea of what was going on, it was fun to watch, the second time I was able to fully comprehend the drama charged atmosphere of this show. Wheels, Joey, they all fit in so well, I have so many memories of this show, like Joey stripping for money in the cafeteria (those crazy Canadians) and Dwaynes battle to overcome his AIDS dilemma. If this show was so good how come its Next Generation sux so bad, I dont know, dont bother with the latest offering, watch the re-runs of this instead :). So many memories, when will this come out entirely on DVD etc

Tiger on Beat (1988)

Man this movies chainsaw fighting seen is probably the best their ever will be, if you need any more reason to see it there is something wrong. Good script, good ideas (shotgun on a rope, who would have thought) and good acting, an explosive action packed movie

Mannequin: On the Move (1991)

This movie detracts from the original, its hard to believe its a sequel to such a great film. Whereas the original made me feel great when I seen it at 3 years of age, watching this utter monstrosity has really ticked me off, this movie actually made me angry, the whole time I felt like getting out of my chair, jumping into the TV and giving the actors lessons "No no F^%ing NO!, you dont write movies like this (slaps script writers). This is a crap movie that devalues the original, I hope whoever wrote it never finds work in the industry again, thank for destroying the original for me, butthole.

Secret Admirer (1985)

mad, absolutely mad

I seen this movie on 1 st January 2002, thats painful because it means I'll have to wait the rest of the year before I can wait for it to come back on so i can tape it. The movie is great, the acting is generally good and the nostalgia theme is excellent showing lots of 80's all the way through. I "really liked it!" (heh heh) because of the music as well, Van Stephenson was such a good singer (R.I.P) and the selection of songs compliments the feel of the movie. Although some people dismiss it as "shallow Californian crap", it has a great message at the end that shows love only goes halfway, you've got to be met somewhere else along the line. C Thomas Howell was great and Scott McGuinis played Steve very well.
