Mad About You (1992–2019)
10/10
Favorite Husband/Wife Show
3 July 2019
Even though it was virtually filmed in Culver City, Ca, ( my wife being from Brooklyn & me from Chicago) she LOVED every episode & totally related to the trials & tribulations of the NY lifestyle. We have so many favorite episodes ( and admittedly not all of them) Paul is neurotic but so funny. I don't know how they followed the script. WE've seen every episode a million times, but always managed a bellylaugh

Match Game (1973–1990)
10/10
Best Game Show Ever !!!
27 June 2017
Warning: Spoilers
My wife and I are both retired and try to catch "Match Game" as much as possible. It's on 4 times a day M-F on GSN. We DVR it for all episodes, so sometimes we have 18-20 shows to watch, if we forget. Then we binge watch all night. The shows alternate between Match Game 73 & Match Game 77.Love the Closed Captioning, as I am a little hard of hearing & so much "cross talking" is going on all the time. Sad to say, all the 4 leads ( Gene Rayburn,Brett Somers, Charles Nelson Reilly, and Richard Dawson) have all passed away. If you're checking out the "Cast & Crew" on IMDb , what's great is they have EVERY guest who's ever appeared on Match Game73. You can check out everybody's Bio. Spent a good chunk of a night seeing who's still alive & how their careers turned out. GREAT job, IMDb!!! OH, and YES, we LOVE the show !!

Don't F With Jim F'n Hardie!!!
28 February 2017
Although my wife was P'OD'd with Starz Western ( TV ) substituting Gunsmoke ( one of her favorites)with " Tales of Wells Fargo" , We've come to accept " Jim ( DON'T F With Me ) Hardie " as the main focus in the TV show. Just love him...What a MAN !!! Especially loved his " ELVIS" hairdo The background narration was a real plus, unlike all the other shows of the era.

Basically Sucks
23 September 2016
This review totally pisses me off. Spent 1/2 hr writing a review. Went to post & one word needed correction. Went to correct & total review disappeared. No patience to retype. Show is unbelievable, boring and the "double " actors describing all is BS. Apparently everyone survived, listening to all the "clones" speak, so what's the point if everyone is still alive?? Worst season so far!!Just a "Haunted House" story. Cuba Gooding is terrible ( and a real wimp) in this show. Most people agreed he was NOTHING like OJ in " The People vs OJ" mini TV series last spring. No spoilers here. You don't need them. As Obi-Won- Kenobi would say " Nothing To See Here" I want my 2 hours I invested in this series back !!

'Doc' (1971)
5/10
Katie Elder ??
6 September 2016
Saw this for the 1st time today. Seeing "Tombstone" & now this...Doc shot "Ringo" at the OK Corral. In "Tombstone" Doc shot Ringo in some forest somewhere. Also in "Doc" Morgan is dead at OK Corral. In "Tombstone" Morgan is wounded at OK Corral. And my biggest question is this ... Big Nose Kates last name is "Elder". Any relation to that great Western..."The Sons Of Katie Elder" ??? What's going on in Western history ??? I had no clue Kate's last name was "Elder" in "Doc" until near the end. " " Sons of Katie Elder" with John Wayne, Dean Martin, Earl Holliman...etc was one of my favorite movies growing up. How many "Katie Elders" could there be back in the old West ???

Like a Whole New Movie For Me
10 July 2008
I know this is my second review/comment about The Commitments ( my first one being over four years ago) but I gotta say I just watched it for the first time with the "closed-captioning" on, and it's like a whole new movie for me!! I highly recommend this to everyone who's ever watched the movie and I'll guarantee you'll be amazed at what you missed in dialog. As many times as I've watched the movie, I always picked up a little more (dialog-wise) than the previous time. Now I know the whole story & all the background dialog. It's almost like a "Director's Cut" or the "Uncut" version. Don't knock it till you try it! Still my #1 favorite movie.

On a side note, I'm sure most of you know Glen Hansard, who played "Outspan" in the movie won an Academy Award for Best Original Song this year from the movie "Once". I bought the movie used at Blockbuster for $5,just on the strength of the box's liner notes. I loved the movie, but had no clue the male lead was "Outspan". But the more I looked at his facial expressions, especially his eyes, I kept saying to myself,God, I know this guy! Picked up my Commitments DVD, but no actors names were on the box, so I got my Commitments CD Soundtrack out and sure enough, Glen Hansard's name was listed. If you haven't seen the movie("Once")give it a try. It's got some great songs in it( almost all original, written by Glen and his co-star Marketa Irglova) Well, that's enough for me. I'll write some more in another four years. Marty

"You raised their expectations of life, you lifted their horizons!"
12 March 2004
My one line summary consists of the most profound statement in the movie. "Jimmy "The Lips" Fagin telling "Brother Rabbitte" what he has achieved, when Jimmy thinks he has achieved "Nuttin'".That being said, I am overjoyed at the amount of people giving their wonderful comments about my favorite movie of all time.I can't tell you all the people I've turned on to this movie. I remember I didn't see the movie when it first came out, then they came out with some god-awful TV series kinda based on the movie (Americanized, of course),which, thank god, met a quick & merciful death. I bought the VHS version, then the Laserdisc version, then the DVD, and am now awaiting the 2 disc special DVD, just released, to come in the mail.I have watched this film countless times & never get tired of it. I've even pretty much deciphered the dialogue(try reading the book sometime,if you think the movie is hard to understand!)One of my most prized possessions is a "Commitments" Promotional kit consisting of a "Making of" tape and a booklet about the movie in a photo-illustrated 6x15 box that I bought from a long-closed video store about 10 yrs ago. I also found the ellusive "Commitments Vol.2" CD in a "cut-out" bin about the same time.Anyway,I love the movie, and the whole premise of taking a bunch of unknown, talented, singers & musicians, with pretty much no hope of rising above their surroundings individually, and put them together to form "The Hardest Working Band in Show Business".To me, the highlight & peak of the band(and movie) was when they played "Try a Little Tenderness". It still gives me goosebumps & brings a mist to my eyes, whenever I see it.I'm still in love with Natalie & Imelda!! And Deco(Andrew Strong) only being 16yrs old!!I always hoped there would be a "Part 2", but as Joey said to Jimmy(after the band broke up) "The success of the band was irrelevent. You raised their expectations of life, you lifted their horizons. Sure, we could have been successful, & made albums & stuff, but that would have been predictable. This way...it's poetry". What a wonderful philosophy. That whole scene will never leave my mind.
