August Underground's Mordum (2003)
It's scary how much it sucks
I really don't know where to start to describe this "artistic" operation, which I categorically refuse to define as a movie.
Defined by many as the most violent and disturbing movie ever made, this "artistic operation" seemed anything but disturbing to me. Some scenes of violence and gore are certainly present, but they are filmed so badly and superficially that even the most attentive and fussy spectator loses the thread of the plot.
The plot itself, if it can be defined as such, tells the story of a group of three boys (in the first there were two, here the sister of the protagonist of the first is added) who goes around from city to city beating, raping , torture and kill anyone who comes to hand and in the most disgusting ways possible.
This is perhaps only 1/4 of the movie, because the remaining scenes are nothing more than interminable sequences where we see the group doing the most useless and disinteresting things that can be shown: going to the supermarket, eating in a fast-food restaurant, going a piercing shop and so on. To surround all this there is a huge dose of healthy and healthy boredom and pain in the ass, that he or she who manages to win it should really be rewarded in my opinion.
If there were to be an Oscar for the worst movie, this artistic operation would win it very easily.
I absolutely advise against seeing this pile of garbage.
Chekist (1992)
Total garbage and waste of time
What kind movie is this?
Aside from the plot that doesn't really exist, the film is really badly done: bad acting, very slow pace, characters with little or no real psychological insight and everything else a sea of boredom.
What would be the message of the film? Prove how brutal the Russian Civil War was? So why not also show the White Terror, which was even more ruthless? Why not explain what led to the war? Why not explain how the war ended? No, the only thing that is shown are endless sequences of shootings and sorting of corpses that in the long run do nothing but pass out from boredom.
Not recommended. If you want to learn more about the Russian civil war read some books of Russian literature (such as those by Pavel Golub) but don't give credit to this crappy movie, whose only purpose is not to tell the story, but to show violence and gore worse than any horror movie.
The Shining (1980)
Too much overrated and boring
I'll probably go against the tide writing this, but seeing it today The Shining seems to me anything but a masterpiece. Flat plot, slow direction, chock full of dead times that do nothing but lengthen everything unnecessarily, making it extremely monotonous and boring. Even the acting doesn't convinces much, the only one who really gets along is Jack Nicholson, while the remaining characters have a psychological depth of zero or almost zero. In conclusion The Shining is just a series of meaningless lengthiness and cumbersomeness.
In my opinion the worst Kubrick movie ever. It's not total trash, but it's absolutely light years away from the director's real masterpieces (like 2001 and A Clockwork Orange)
I corpi presentano tracce di violenza carnale (1973)
Very good tense giallo
In Perugia, a couple secluded in the car is brutally killed by an assassin with his face covered. When another girl is murdered in the woods, a connection between the two crimes seems immediate.
After the disappointment left me after watching "Mrs. Wardh's Strange Vice", I still decided to continue browsing and rediscover Sergio Martino's filmography and I must say that this "The bodies show traces of carnal violence", internationally known with the title of "Torso", not only is it not bad at all as an Italian giallo-thriller, but it is also an important film from a horror point of view, being the forerunner of many slasher films that will be born shortly thereafter, such as "Halloween" , "Friday the 13th" etc.
Even world-famous filmmakers such as Quentin Tarantino and Eli Roth have re-evaluated this jewel of Italian thriller cinematography in recent years.
Of "Torso," Roth writes: "The last 15 minutes of Torso are probably the best cinematic part ever."
An atypical film even for Martino himself, for all the violence and blood shown, which cost him a salty ban on children under 18.
In addition to the editing, the very beautiful and gloomy music and the actresses, especially the beautiful and talented Suzy Kendall, are memorable.
La tarantola dal ventre nero (1971)
Very interesting giallo movie
The customers of a beauty center are murdered in a chilling ritual: first paralyzed with a pin, then disemboweled. In charge of the investigation is a policeman who takes the case lightly, but his wife also risks her life.
Very tense and disturbing Italian thriller film. The plot of the killer who kills his victims by pricking them with a pin and paralyzing them like a wasp with a tarantula struck me quite a bit.
The acting and music are also quite good. Much better than other cheesy giallos of the period.
The ending is then one of the biggest and most unexpected twists I've ever seen. If you are looking for a good giallo, "The Black-bellied Tarantula" will not disappoint you at all.
