Good idea, Poor Execution
9 September 2021
This movie had the potential to be really funny while providing an insight on race relations in the united states. Most of the jokes fall flat unless you're high or sleep deprived. There is some good jokes, and the plot has a decent twist to it. I suggest this as a good movie to watch late night with some friends...buzzed, stoned, or both.

The Artist (I) (2011)

A modern day masterpiece
28 August 2021
The Artist is truly a masterly crafted piece of work that honors the history of the film industry, and shows the darker side the switch to sound had on it's community. The films isn't without it's flaws however... it does tend to feel a bit long and the lack of sound can be annoying at time but if you can look past these it's an excellent film.

For what it is, it's fun.
13 August 2021
Overall the Alligator people is an... interesting movie. The plot is nothing special, the acting is overdone, but it's still fun. It's not really anything to write home about but it does give a sense of mystery that combined with the short runtime provides a mostly pleasant viewing experience.

Jungle Cruise (2021)

Lighthearted Fun
7 August 2021
Overall Jungle Cruise is a lighthearted, fun, adventure flick. It's got good action and funny jokes. There are a couple problems however. The CGI is terrible and can easily break your immersion. The dialogue can also be a bit clunky at times. And without spoiling it the story goes with a typical "Disney Ending" over what would have been a much more powerful and emotional one. Despite it's flaws Jungle Cruise is still a fun film that your whole family will enjoy.

Satisfying ending
19 July 2021
Part 3 while being better than part 1, was nowhere near as good as part 2. The pacing was weird and use of the same actors as new character felt weird and out place. That being said it did provide a good end, with a good surprise twist for series. Part 2 is definitely the stand out of the three films but the other parts are needed, for better or for worse, to get full enjoyment out of it.

Not the Next Citizen Kane
12 July 2021
This movie is going to win an oscar for screen play, animation, or acting. But that's not the point of the movie. The point is to be an extreme satire on American Culture and the history of the country. Do some of the jokes fall flat? Yep. Is the animation style the best? Nope. Does George Washington wield chainsaw arms in battle? HELL YEAH!

Big Improvement
12 July 2021
Part 2 of the Fear Street saga gives us a big improvement over the first part the series. The character development, acting, and over all likability is much tighter and better. Instead of cramming a bunch of horror tropes and references into a film like part 1 did it instead focused one or two while giving it a unique spin. This film alone makes part 1 worth the watch.

On paper it was a good idea
9 July 2021
Fear Street part 1 was a lot of good ideas that on paper probably seemed like they would work, a diverse cast, references to classic horror movies, unique villain. However all of these are pretty terribly excuted. There the actual horror bits are few and far between, and there is a stronger reliance on jump scare over real horror. Theres no suspense either, I was so bored watching this film. The movie spends way to much time telling us about character backstory and no time developing it, leading to a boring teen rom com with an occasional murder mixed in.

Overall a Solid Doc
21 June 2021
Overall I got a story to tell is a fairly solid doc that shows the real man, family, and friends behind Biggie. At times the shots can jump over the place and sometimes the story doesn't flow the best, but the story has a lot of heart to it, and it a good watch for any fan of 90s rap.

Limited by its Time
17 June 2021
The Matrix is a near perfect film telling the story of an average Joe who is turned into Jesus and or Buddha. The core cinema elements like themes/concepts, camerawork, and acting are all there and spot on, but a lot of the cgi and special effects are very much a product of their time, a lot of them don't hold up. Some do, but enough don't to make just limit the experience just enough... other than that small grip it's perfect.

Simple,Fun, Timeless
17 June 2021
Batman & Mr. Freeze tells a fun tale of Batman and Robin chasing down yet another looney from Gotham and using their detective work to race against the clock. The movie makes Mr. Freeze not only a sympathetic villain but in the end almost redeemable. The only real problem with the movie is a few minor hiccups in the animation here in there, particular in the 3d scenes, and some of the clues Batman finds being a little bit deus ex machina. Other than that it's a solid animated Batman adventure.

Inspiring
9 June 2021
Overall this is an excellent documentary that tells a heartfelt and important story that everyone needs to hear. There are a few technical issues like an inconsistent narrator and overuse of mixing handheld and fixed camera shots but those aspects don't limit the power of the film.

Masterly Crafted Sound
5 June 2021
Right off the bat I want to say that the sound design in this movie is amazing! It adds the perfect amount of tension to the story without ever bogging it down. And as sequels go, this is a near perfect one that really builds on the original. My only complaint is that certain elements of the movie are a bit predictable and over foreshadowed, which can ruin some of the tension that the film so perfectly builds up.

Classic but dated
2 June 2021
Overall Day of the Dead is a classic film, however it's a little dated. While the story and premise are there a few of the more technical elements no longer hold up. The gore and the zombie costumes in particular. There is a bit of bad acting here and there too but not enough to ruin the movie. If you're willing to look past these flaws you'll find a fun, dark, and intense zombie thriller unlike anything you've seen before.

Basic and Boring
28 May 2021
Someone how this film finds a way to turn zombies boring. It strives very hard to be artisacllp pleasing to look at but in doing so breaks some core film making rules that makes jarring edits and confusing camera work. The works hard to create silence with minimal character dialogue which would work if there were good actors... they're not bad actors just not suited for such a silent role. Most of the film could be cut out and it would still be the exact same thing, making in not deserving with a 1 hour 40 min runtime. It could have easily worked as a short 4-60 minute film but it's way to long and moves way to slowly.

The Perfect Bad Movie
27 May 2021
I can't decided this movie deserves 1 star or 10. It's horrible. But it is so carefully made to horrible. It's genius. It's funny. I love. 5/10 because I don't know what else to do. This is truly the next Citizen Kane.

The Movies I wanted Growing Up
24 May 2021
This movie is so much fun, it's bright and colorful, full of realistic Pokémon in real life. It's the movie I would have loved as a kid, unfortunately adult me is slightly less pleased. The plot is pretty basic. The special effects and the jokes don't always land. There is nothing real special about about the cinematography and editing either. Despite this it's still a fun movie and sure to please younger fans and older fans of the series alike.

Fun Parody
24 May 2021
Cabin in the Woods is a simple yet fun parody on classic horror movies like Evil Dead or Friday the 13th. It has clever ideas, and some good jokes but otherwise is pretty much a standard movie with nothing to special. That's not to say it's bad it's just nothing incredibly special.

Slow,but it gets better
24 May 2021
The first act in this movie is incredibly slow and honestly boring. You don't really care about the characters or what they do, as they have little backstory or personality (a trait that stays for pretty much everyone except Alice.) It does pick up a bit around the 1 hour mark and while it has some fun sets, moments, and ideas it's too little too late.

The Good side of the DCEU
23 May 2021
A lot of the DCEU movies are overly dark and gritty but not Shazam, it's bright, colorful, funny, and has a heartfelt story. The film's pacing at times can be a little slow and not all of the jokes land, but overall this is perfect movie to watch with the family.

Classic, but hasn't aged the best
22 May 2021
While the legacy and effect Night of the Living Dead has had on the horror genre as the found father of zombies movies cannot be understand this film hasn't aged the best. That's not to say it's bad but it is very much locked in it's time as an old black and white movie, it's not timeless like other older films but it's still fun and creepy and a must watch for any horror or zombie fan.

Snyder in his element
21 May 2021
Snyder is really in his wheelhouse in this movie, it's fun and colorful filled with interesting, fun, and diverse characters who don't feel like your typical zombie movie stereotypes. In general Snyder breathes fresh life into a genre that is becoming very stale and bloated filling his tale with fresh takes and surprises. It does run a bit long (it is a Snyder movie after all) but I hardly noticed as the movie was just too much fun. This movie is a simply a good time.

Highly Underrated
15 May 2021
This film is critically underrated. It's a different type of horror that is more of a lowborn psychological thriller. It's not ripe with jumpscares or gore, it's smarter than that. It create genuinely spooky moments with visuals that are both thematic and just down right spooky. It does however not have a lot of character develop, and most of the survivors are fairly predicable, but if you let yourself be lost to the world of the story you'll have a good time watching this film.

Dark and Gritty 80s
12 May 2021
The Terminator turns the bright lights of the 80s to a dark and gritty thriller. The story while simple is unique and fun. The acting is good, using Arnold as an emotionless machine creatively uses his less than superb acting in a brilliant way. It's intense, it's dark it's awesome. However at times the pacing can be slow bring the movie to a grinding halt, and some of the special effects have no aged well. Despite this it's a must see movie for any sci-fi fan.

Not perfect, but fun.
12 May 2021
Mortal Kombat Legends is an awesome animated film. The fight animation is awesome and the gore effects are perfect for a Mortal Kombat movie. While is follows the plot of the first game is does so in an new and interesting way, highlighting Scorpions journey through brutal fights and blood baths. Unfortunately when the characters are fighting the animation can be a little wonky, particularly in the face and hands. There is also little to no character development for the majority of the characters in the film. Overall it's a fun watch that any Mortal Kombat fan will enjoy, but it's not perfect.
