Deleter (2022)
THE DELETED ENDING
I watched the movie at the last day of 2022 and it was worth the price. If you're in a dilemma whether to watch this or not, you should give it a go.
There were scenes that were really terrifying and it'll bring you to the edge of your seat. The first scenes will show you a background of their work and the terrible job of a content moderator. Also, you will be informed by how the job works and what are the psychological trauma it brings.
The plot was a bit slow and the movie all throughout was an OK but the ending really was ambiguous. To be honest, there were scenes that made me confused because of the flashbacks but the plot twist saved it. Wasn't expecting with the closings of the movie as I was wandering with so many questions. But I guess it was good to end that way to let the viewers interpret the plot.
Not to mention the professional cinematography and the transitions. Especially when Nadine was in that bar.
The age limit shouldn't be R-13 because there were absolutely scenes that were sexual, abusive, and can really start a trauma. So my best advice would be having a thick skin.
Overall for me, it was a bit cliché but I truly enjoyed the movie and it was worth the hype.
Mil gritos tiene la noche (1982)
CONNECT YOUR PUZZLE PIECES PLEASE
If you want a guide, this comment is the best to read. First of all, the nudity deserves a SEVERE since many naked woman were conspicuous. There weren't sexual scenes so it's safe but still, it should be rated R-16. Next, there were many futile characters so don't worry if you'll miss a single person. The first 5 minutes is more like a Pre-Plot to give a background to the story. The whole hour takes you to a hunting of the target-naked-women by a killer. Take note, the last kill is unbearable from the last minute. The concept of finding the killer is fun but it's not surprising tho. Overall, it didn't give me much satisfaction but hey, it's a classic spanish horror film so it's ok.
Leprechaun Returns (2018)
THIS MOVIE DESERVES A GOLD THAN THE LEPRECHAUN
I watched the movie during the month of Saint Patrick but I guess it didn't really matter. First of all, the story was a great adjust for the modern world. The new leprechaun still has the charms from the old one. A nasty but whimsical elf. Next, the cast were also great at portraying their diverse-personality characters. The movie has some comedic points but the deaths were also gory that it reminds you that this film is more like a slasher one rather than all fun and cheesy jokes. Overall, a great movie for this generation.
The Lighthouse (2019)
WHERE'S YOUR OTHER EYE BRUH
First of all, how it filmed is so great and professional. It totally sets your perspective in an 1890 century since the silent film aspect square ratio and black & white gives you the vibes. Robert Pattinson and William Dafoe are such wonderful actors. Movies like these are great to watch like The Witch and etc. The plot was derived from old journals and interviews and the story really made it real. It's like a movie that reflects to a reality when a surreal horror collides. Despite the miserable and heavy weather conditions, they managed to represent a masterpiece. You should definitely watch this and be mesmerized by it!
The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016)
WICKED WITCH
I was speechless watching the ending. From the first parts of the movie, there were many cute, relationship scenes between a Father-Son and a couple. The autopsy was literally crucial since Jane's anatomy has some weird & obscure organs that totally doesn't get any sense at all. Apparently, she died and left a clueless note. There were no external evidences like bruises, scars, wounds and etc. She died with the body of a clean one. But yet how did she die? The movie totally makes you ride in a rollercoaster that its concept is totally cool and unique. The thing about the main characters? I pity them all so much I didn't even see Jane Doe move physically from her examined-body 'cause it'll be cool for a jumpscare. All I love about the movie is its concept of anatomy and autopsy but the plot was slightly disturbing.
Lucky (2020)
THE LUCKY WRITER/ACTRESS
Before I can say anything else, bravo to Brea Grant. She got 12 Hour Shift, The Stylist, After Midnight and this! She probably might be very busy for this and the upcoming years. Anyways this movie is more intense, suspense, horror-thriller compared to the masterpiece 12 Hour Shift. One of the best horror films I've ever seen. It's also very professional, the movie sets your mind into a different world full of crazy and scary scenarios. You will absolutely be lucky after watching the movie from the beginning to the end! Brea Grant is just the best at horror films, period.
Voces (2020)
LET THE FLY LOVE INSIDE YOUR EARS
An Ok Spanish Horror Film. This movie reminds me of The Conjuring with a subtle Gothika mixture. The concept is quite unique since a Fly could just enter their ears and they'll be possessed, afterwards, they do random catastrophic things. I also love the idea that the family were obscure which leads them to "Their Ending" and the perspective shifts to the paranormal duo, the father-daughter relationship. If you already watched The Conjuring, you could probably compare them. The English Title is Voices so there were eccentric relations to it starting from the kid, then the mom receiving a dead phone call, a fly inside their ear and etc. The main protagonist/s probably isn't the kid nor the parents 'cause the P.O.V. changes. There was somewhat a big plot twist at the ending so you better watch out. Speaking of the conclusion, it also has a post-credit scene about their next "Paranormal Odyssey". Overall = it' s ok if you want movies like The Conjuring and is in Spain, this movie can be recommended.
The VVitch: A New-England Folktale (2015)
THE OMINOUS MALEVOLENT WITCH
Knowing that this is an A24 horror film, it usually has more creepy vibe rather than scary which I also like. The movie really portraits the said era. After the best Hereditary film, this comes after. Anya Taylor-Joy really is the best at horror films from her young age. She starts the film with being innocent and naive until she became omnipotent and that's a good character development since she is "The Witch". I knew the Queen's Gambit girl is the best at horror films. The movie is totally creepy and will leave you having goosebumps until the end. It totally depicts a girl going through maturity and comprehends that she'll eventually experience such chaos in her family. A really good movie to originate a folktale. The only criticism I personally have is how they talk, I sometimes cannot understand their conversation or is it just my perception that is low and besides it's from New England. Overall, there are certain parts that needs to augmentate but it's a 2015 film so, it may be the best!!!
Son (2021)
FLESH AS YOUR FOOD, BLOOD AS YOUR DRINK
The concept of its plot is very interesting! A mother-son relationship that deals with every obstacle for them to find refuge. This story shows how much a mother loves its son that she goes through a lot for him to survive. This movie includes a lot of blood and gore that a YOUTH can do! It's also intriguing since they try to flee from the hospital (where the doctors find absolutely no anomaly to the son) and the police and goes through any bloddy circumstances for the son to live. Some of the first scenes shows how regeretful the mother is to have a son that has no FATHER and in the end, her consciousness saved everything since she is now a MOM. Lowkey, the police is kinda extra tho but wait 'til you see the end. In total, I love it's plot but the ending is twisted (or isn't it?)
Annie (1982)
TOMORROW'S THE BEST
It was so good to watch this classic musical nowadays. As a tennager, I was raised with the 2014 version and I can say that something lacks from that movie. To watch the original is such a dream since nothing can impersonate this beautiful movie. I hope kids can still relate and love the movie since it also has a good lesson. With soundtracks as TOMORROW and IT'S A HARD-KNOCK LIFE, you can totally raise from your couch and sing with the effervescent song! Do yourself a favor and watch this original musical over and over again!
Raya and the Last Dragon (2021)
TRUST THE MASQUERADE
To be honest, I have been waiting for the movie to release since last year 'cause it was labelled with the genre of musical. Classic Disney movies with a lot of singing in it was where I was raised with but the movie didn't dissapoint me. The movie has a really good moral and reflection that kids these days should watch to. It's about: never lose a faith to someone that has betrayed you a lot. The story has a message about: to attain peace and unity, everyone should trust each other. The animation is so good! A beautiful character development between Raya and Namaari. Awkwafina rocks in this movie! she plays the funniest character. In conclusion, even though it's not musical, it still is a powerful and meaningful film. This movie can be recommended to everyone especially kids NOWADAYS.
Host (2020)
HAVE I SEEN THIS LIVE ZOOM BEFORE?
No offense but I somewhat feel some cliché vibe from the movie. It feels like the "Unfriended" movie but in a lockdown version. The whole plot is about 5 girls and an extra guy who's named Teddy doing a seance. For me, it was honestly predictable that these characters are going to experience some paranormal activity knowing that Teddy was just extra and Jemma pranking about some spooky tension. But knowing this is a quarantine-horror situation, it's still cool and professional from the fact that it's a low-budget film. The jumpscares weren't that scary. In a stereotypical horror movie, the characters notice some suspicious, ghostly moment and they try to investigate it and obviously a scary scene will pop out. I didn't get the ending though, did the "Tom And Jerry" characters (Haley and Jemma) reconcile and survive? Or did they die and left the movie with no surviving characters? Lastly, the post-credit scene with the actual seance is kinda unnecessary but I guess it's to lengthen the movie. Enough with the criticisms, the cast were great in staying to their character. I don't know how they filmed it but it did look like a live, one take zoom. Every death and horror scene is the best thing I liked throughout the movie. Overall, it's ok. But knowing it's short and low-budget, it's very good.
12 Hour Shift (2020)
"They'll Steal Your Kidney"
The movie was moderate. It wasn't the best nor the worst. The whole plot was interesting since you'll get intrigued of the future situation of Regina who is dumb but humorous. She has a mission to steal someone's kidney for her to avoid jeopardy which affects Mandy who is a nurse. I was somewhat entertained whenever Chloe Farnworth's character pops out 'cause she might be stupid but she plays the funny part of the movie. We have Angela Bettis (who I knew from Carrie 2002) who plays the straight-face nurse who likes to take care things strict and serious. The movie starts with an ordinary, modern part (which I honestly was bored) but then the thrilling adventure of finding a kidney made me interested. Will Regina finally get the kidney she wants or will she be dead? Will Mandy ever help regina or will she be escorted out from her job? I dare you to watch the movie and your kidney will be snatched!
P. S. Watching James A. Janisse recent Dead Meat Kill Count recommended me to watch the movie. It was worth the watch!!!
Wrong Turn (2021)
A VERY MATURED MOVIE
When I peruse the criticisms, I was kinda disappointed that everyone has no taste to the movie. I admit that it was totally different compared to the rest of the film series but it was very innovative. I can say that this movie is very matured because in an early teen's perspective, it was very bearable and possibly likeable. Some of the prior films, I was prohibited to see most of the scenes since many were very "intimate". And It was bloody annoying. But from this new Wrong Turn movie, there were less disgusting scenes and is focused on more thrill and excitement. The movie starts with a group (which are very futile characters but hey, it's a horror movie and it's also good to the increasing of dead bodies) hiking and having adventure but some of them purposely didn't follow "the trail" and many dumb choices were made but trust me, everyone received what they deserved. The movie also teaches a lesson about a daughter-father relationship which they are ready to put their lives into fatal 'cause they love each other. Many chase scenes, thrills, and heart-skipping moments were in there (less jumpscare though). If it's your first time watching the film series, you should watch this first in that way, you couldn't compare and contrast the original.
SPOILER P. S. : The Ending was a total epic scene amongst all. I was like "wait there are only a few minutes left, why is the antagonist" with her"" And I was ready to hate the whole but guess what, she was such a badass woman (main protagonist).
