Das Leben der Anderen (2006)
The end is stunning
"Do you like it gift-wrapped?", "No, it's for me".
I like when a movie has metaphors like that, or when
a short sentence conveys many meanings
at the same time, like this.
Ladri di biciclette (1948)
One of the best movies ever
After all these great review there is little for me to add. I saw this movie in 1988, and it struck me very deeply. To this day, 20 years later, I remember most details vividly. I saw it in some cinema club at my university. Nobody was expecting really much. At the end of the movie, there were the tears and a long standing ovation. It was absolutely incredible. This movie is the best ever I have seen. The acting is unbelievable. Just watch the son's look during the climax of the film (close to the end of the movie). A seasoned actor would not act so superbly. I strongly recommend everybody to see it. It is a timeless classic!
Le passager de la pluie (1970)
great movie
I saw this movie two or three times in the theater in 1971, when I was ten years old. My brother was obsessed by the movie and he used to take me. Now, after 38 years I saw it again on DVD, and it evoked some memories! I had still remembered since then some of the memorable scenes, like opening the fist of the rapist's body to find the button, and Charles Bronson giving Marlene Jobert the button. It is a great movie. One of the few earliest thriller/romance of its type (post-Hitchcock) to come out. The chemistry between Charles Bronson and Marlene Jobert is great, and I liked the walnut-throwing metaphor. It is a classic!
