Graphic Novel Connection?
starsurfer8324 September 2019
What do y'all think about the new villain's methods and the last community found in the original graphic novel. It seems to be a mirror of that society's ideals (reward the strong, eliminate the weak).

This wouldn't be the first time Fear took the graphic novel's plot points . . . and now, as I think about the implications, I like the idea . . . because that will free up the upcoming Grimes features.

Potential Future...
ninjaboyballer15 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is decent. Logan's motivations are bit cliche but the actor did a fine job. The practical stuff in this episode, including that whole sequence at night was good. Although the ending I did not see coming and this new group that killed Logan and his group could be the potential for the story to move forward in an interesting way. Fear had been stuck in the same place for a while now and it's time for a change. Oh and I also forgot to say the part with Alicia , Strand, and Wes was decent as well.

Overall this episode was a decent one compared to eps 9,10, and 11.

Final rating: 7.5/10

Just trying to do good is not enough!
newpapyrus9 September 2019
This was one of the better and more realistic episodes, IMO, because it clearly illustrates the innate dangers of feudalism in a post apocalyptic world.

This is why good people who wisely help others-- still have to be fully prepared-- to protect themselves and to even do battle with other groups that intend to conquer, or rob, or enslave, or even exterminate other people.

Matt Frewer...
songod-9500310 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
First let me thank Rob-O-Cop for the good laugh when he wrote that this show's writing is like "free form jazz"! Being a musician I got as real good laugh from that!

Anyone who watches scifi\horror genre TV knows Matt Frewer is a legend. From "The Stand", Max Headroom, and "Taken" (the alien mini-series), to too many to mention movies and TV shows, he has been a consistent and welcome presence for a good forty years. I have to wonder what this shows runners promised him to get him on board! Like any actor, a nice paycheck could have been it, but wow his character simply went nowhere. His mention of a "bigger plan" to help people? Never defined! In the end he was little more than Crazy Lady from last season in that it only took one bad day to twist him. But isn't that what The Joker in "The Killing Joke" graphic novel extols? All it takes is one bad day to turn a sane person into a crazy person?

And what was the deal with the cavalry? I thought perhaps they grew to become Logan's gang... but no, he turned on them or they on him but we'll probably never know what went down.

And I am a little tired of this group not willing to engage the enemy. Rick and Co would never have let Logan or the cowboys and gals get the upper hand! At least old season 1-4 Rick. He'd have had more the John for a sniper. He'd have had a contingency plan. Like when trapped in the lair of cannibals he said to the others, "They have no idea who they're messing with". Sadly this group is so very incompetent or so wound up on "all human life is precious" that they will not fight. No one is messing with anyone special here. Not even Morgan, the chief pacifist.

Now Matt is gone. Off to grace another show with his talent. As he leaves the shakes the dust of of FTWD from his shoes; never to look back.

Twist in direction.
cruise0113 September 2019
3.5 out of 5 stars

The episode picks up a little with zombie action. Logan holding Luciana and Dwight and there people at a oil field with undead coming. The episode reveals Logans motive. The ending twist into a new direction with the villain. It does have a boring story and characters.

Great character development and good action sequences but suffers from bad writing and story direction
Holt3449 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This week's episode is over, a long running story arc with Logan as the quiet interesting villain ended abruptly, being killed off by the new group that the showrunners introduced. In my opinion it was too late to introduce a new villain as the whole story arc with Logan have actually been unique as an anti-villain, it was fresh from the usual TWD villain format so they made a mistake at killing Logan like that. He have been a great character and after giving us some scenes when he was working on the good side gave us a clear picture of him and honestly giving me the picture that he is the true good you of the season. The character development for him and Sarah was incredible to see and another good thing was the action sequences, they got it right and it was entertaining. My only expectation was that the group would be back together, other than that it wasn't what I wanted with the episode.

Now to the bad stuff of the episode: The writing and introduction for the new group, time frame was all over the place. The showrunners and writers really need to do something amazing in the next couple of episodes as it have sadly been not as good, like they just threw something together without really thinking of a bigger picture. As I thought Logan was their bigger picture as they have been taking it slow, making use of world building and writing that makes him a realistic character and an opportunity for the show. I read an article about that the showrunners are too careful of killing off a main character and as we see in this episode they are careful and also that they haven't learnt from their mistakes from season 4 where they killed off Madison and Nick with really bad writing. They did the same mistake with Logan. Just sad to see the show get really bad after the first half was incredible. A

What is going on?
MomentIMDB9 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This has been the best episode of the second half, somewhat disappointing because it is quite regular compared to previous seasons. the characters act irreversibly, before they were interesting, now they are all the same and boring. Rescueable things are when Dwigth and Sarah ambush the people of Logan and also the background of Logan's past and his way of being. After our characters were stupidly trapped, even if they were able to kill them all, Logan threatens them if they don't give them the notebook. John and June arrive and, instead of killing them, give them a chance. The walkers appear. Hours go by and only people realize how they could endure for hours and not realize that a horde is next, meaningless. After a rather poor action scene in action and direction, Sarah and Logan are trapped in a cabin. Before this, Alicia and Strand, heard a girl asking for help, this scene is parallel to that of Logan at the beginning of the episode. Logan and Sarah heard all that. The girl survives and loga. It becomes good, unreal in every way. Another very illogical temporary jump, everyone goes out and all the friends, no! Logan and his band are killed by a new character. all that absurd construction for this, seriously. Our protagonists safe and sound. nobody dies, it's a zombie apocalypse, someone must die, since Madison died, no one relevant died, zero realistic. The new villain seems to me cartoon. I don't know how much more this can follow.

Interesting new direction
calebthedavis9 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
They killed Logan and introduced a new villain which brings in the signature TWD lager than life villain. I admit I was a bit annoyed by the weak villain in Logan but with this new villain I have hope. It's also looking like the characters might be heading to a more realistic attitude of building up their own communities without the heavy focus on helping random people. This show may finally be back on track, I have hope.

So unrealistic.
markus_sm8 September 2019
This review is more about the direction of the series. The series started being a relatively realistic show compared to TWD (I know both are unrealistic by nature). Now the cast are going around helping people, instead of trying to build something. They are going around losing resources on making themselves feel better, they cannot possibly make more than they use/give away/lose, they may have a big stash but it wont last forever. At least in TWD they are builsing a community and eventually a civilization. This is basically a teen show with little to no logic. It's mildly entertaining.

Getting Back on Track
pamelatak28 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Logan was a weaker villain ..... actually just a bitter old man who lost his way. And he just took it out on everybody. I liked this episode a lot more than the last couple. They have moved the story forward, away from Logan and molded our main characters in to their new form - of people getting ready to settle down. It looks like a lot of people are trying to create the "new post zombie society" and our new "villain" is one of those with her own ideas of what it will look like. You can't just keep looking for unopened cans of food and sharing that with others. Sooner or later you have to start creating something from nothing and making the world go round that way. People have to actually start building something, growing something. And stop killing each other for their stuff....

Help others!!!

What the hell they really want to do. They separate , Every one go to different place doing stupid things . Alicia paint poor trees but why? Al doing stupid things , And Morgan s with her.

What about other kids where are they?

Disgusting Murderer Charlie leave to find a place to settle. But we still should see her stupid face .

And the most annoying thing is risk their life to help strangers. To feel better and make up what they did before.

Logan easily win because those stupid people gave up easily and let him do what he wanted. Because this holly people can't hurt anyone even if that person be a murderer and put other people lives in danger.

It is going to be like the walking dead . I watched six or seven season of TWD but it got worse and worse.

S5.E13 - Problematic but Entertaining [7.5/10]
panagiotis19937 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
(S5. E13) My Reaction / Review for Fear The Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 13 ''Leave What You Don't'': Episode 12 was a bit mediocre and I gave it a rating of 6.5/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. So Logan used to be good and helped people. Logan now knows where the oil fields are, that's really bad news. This episode could be called ''The Oil Wars'', everyone wants that sweet gas. Wes helped that girl? I didn't expect that. Wes seemed to be too selfish to help others. Someone killed Logan and his men? What the hell is going on? Who are these people? And they are a huge group. This new group, the leader is pure cringe. Overall a good episode, my rating is 7.5/10.

One of the episode's most intense scenes is the standoff at the oil field, where moral lines are blurred, and characters are pushed to their limits
fernandoschiavi24 April 2024
At Tank Town, Logan's group and the oil crew are at a standoff where the latter is forced to give them all of their barrels before leaving. However, the smoke and fire from the process is attracting a herd and chaos soon follows. Logan's drew leave him to die but he is rescued by Sarah and they hide out in a trailer. Elsewhere, Alicia and Strand try to save a woman, Janis, from death. However, Logan believes they won't make it and encourages Janis to shoot herself rather than suffer a painful death. Wes saves her in the nick of time inspired by Alicia to help instead of kill.

The next day, Logan decides he and his crew to change but are mercilessly gunned down by another group. Virginia introduces herself and her motives and how Logan was a liability. Outnumbered, Luciana agrees to help them make oil in exchange for letting the others go.

Episode 13 of "Fear the Walking Dead" Season 5, titled "Leave What You Don't," is a compelling exploration of leadership, sacrifice, and morality in the apocalypse. This intense episode delves into the past and present struggles of Logan, his transformation from a desperate survivor to an antagonist with complex motivations. It also intricately weaves the tales of betrayal, loss, and the relentless pursuit of a better future, embodied by Logan's quest for the oil fields, which he believes are key to rebuilding what's lost.

The episode kicks off with a flashback revealing Logan's initial noble intentions and subsequent downfall after being betrayed and left for dead. This backstory provides crucial context to his present-day desperation and actions, which are driven by both revenge and a skewed vision of survival. The narrative then shifts to the present, where tensions escalate at the oil fields. Logan's confrontation with Luciana and the others highlights the desperation that fuels both sides of the conflict, as resources become increasingly scarce and valuable.

One of the episode's most intense scenes is the standoff at the oil field, where moral lines are blurred, and characters are pushed to their limits. Logan's final moments, marked by a sudden but brutal conclusion to his arc, are particularly poignant. His death at the hands of a new and more ominous group changes the playing field entirely, introducing a fresh threat that is colder and more calculating than any the group has faced before.

"Leave What You Don't" is an episode rich in character development and dramatic tension. It effectively challenges the characters' and viewers' perceptions of right and wrong in a world where the lines are often blurred. Logan's arc serves as a tragic reminder of the corrosive effects of loss and betrayal, while the emergence of a new foe poses significant new challenges for the survivors. This episode not only advances the plot in significant ways but also sets up intriguing moral dilemmas for future episodes, making it a crucial pivot point in the season.

Making it up as they go along. Chinese whispers story telling
Rob-O-Cop8 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Probably the worst episode of 'free form jazz' script writing, with nonsensical plot details and resolutions. It was sad to see Logan's story line 'wrapped up' in such an insubstantial way. Set off by a tenuous link to a detail most of us had forgotten. Consummate bad script writing trying to pull in poorly built details to make something of the messy drift of a long story, and suddenly it was over and the new power emerges. That was it, the 13 episode arc was done with.

I did like the oil refinery, although it felt completely tacked on and hacked together. I feel like I've missed an episode or 2 where they set this all up, but I haven't, it was just completely missing from the series. There doesn't seem to be a show runner for this keeping track of the overall story arc, so each director and writer gets to take control of the series for their episode and hand it along to the next team to butcher. It's like Chinese whispers where the previous episode softly mumbles the direction to the next and then miss hear it and pass it along after they've added their bits.

There were some good details in this episode. I loved the refinery set up, and of course John Dorie in full cowboy mode with his rifle on the hill and his never miss sharpshooting. I've no idea what was going on with not shooting Logan or any of their gun wielding hench people putting lives at risk when they had the upper hand on many occasions, including John Dorie on the hill.

The whole timeline of it was weird too. it seemed to spread over a afternoon, night and morning, so it was a long even, but,.... why would John Dorie and team let it run that long? And the kids were in, then they were sent off, and Logan's Ace card seemed to be that they didn't want to shoot him so he could do anything he wanted. How far can you push that? 'I'm going to take all your oil and threaten the lives of your crew, and you still won't shoot me? Is this in any way a logical valid plan??. Is it really the best stand off the writers could come up with?.

And then, they're all executed but none of our team are hurt, and the next nonsensical poorly explained plot direction is ushered in without any foreshadowing, apart from the tacked on Logan motive opening scene. This was all over the place. Please, pick a lane and stay in it.

Too Far Fetched
xjumper659 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The same EXACT situation happens to Alycia and Strand that happened to Logan. Same road stop, another woman, same radio plea, same running out of gas at almost exactly the place in the road, and the heroes arrive just a little too late to help, really? This is the best the writers could come up with? No matter how much crap Logan pulls, how much he endangers people (including children), no matter how much he takes, or how much advantage they have over him they are never willing to kill him!!! WTF?! The when the walkers start streaming over the cliff into the refinery for some trumped up drama, they take us to commercial only to have the show come back after the commercial where it's pitch black out. So what over an hour passed on the commercial break and they did nothing to handle the situation? Then the girl trapped in the truck stop just watches as the screwdriver that's keeping the walkers out slipping from the door and makes no attempt to prevent it from falling out. Then she is saved by someone who apparently comes out of nowhere into the room from another entrance. Why didn't she escape that way? For that matter there were two windows behind her she could have used to escape. Your telling me someone who has survived this long wouldn't think to use the windows when locked in a room with walkers at the door? At the end we see it was only about four walkers anyway. It's not like the building was surrounded. The far into the apocalypse someone in a room full of furniture and shelving should be able to delay/trip four walkers long enough to kill them one at a time. For that matter she could have gotten something long and sharp and killed them through the glass panes of the door while it was still locked and still had the barricade between her and them. Again, there were only four walkers!!! I'm all for suspending disbelief in order to enjoy a show, but there has to be some believability. I just can't do it if it's totally absurd and that's what this show has become. It's actually sad because most all the actors on this show are really great and they deserve much better material. With a few isolated episodes, it's been crap since Madison died, but I keep foolishly hoping it's gonna rebound. There are just too many good shows out there for my to keep wasting time on this ridiculous tripe. I apologize to the actors of FTWD, but I'm out!

Fear the Walking Soap Opera! Scatterbrain, No direction, Amateur Writing, Simply Ridiculous, At least there's unintended comedy.
Bababooe9 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
How many times do people stand around with guns and let other people walk right up to them with guns? It happened with the Vultures last season, and our heroes only got one scratch. It happened twice in this episode. Once with Logan then again with the New Bad. In a real world situation, as soon as Logan drove into the gas pump they should have lit him up with a bazooka aka Rambo. And to protect the precious pump? No guards. Right. Logan just walks right in and hold everybody hostage. Then Scarface and Truckes come in after they steal Logan's man's truck, Cowboy has a shot on Logan but doesn't kill him, and Our Helper Hero's just give in. Nonsense. BS. This would never happen. In the real world, Cowboy would have shot as many of Logan's idiots as possible, just as Scarface and Truckes drove up to finish the job. No, we get Truckes with a teary confession, that she feels bad she stole Polar Bear's rig, ending his life. Soap.

Best part of this episode was the flashback when Logan was racing to help someone and got there just in time for zombie dinner. Well done. However, 2 minutes later the Pioneers just ride in. Too many people. Not enough zombie danger. Last week we had Backstab Charlie (Nick Killer) running off and finding a Rabbi, and the Cowboy Couple ridiculously trying to ladder jump a bunch of cars. Who the hell writes this crap? Where is the logic. People we need some logic here.

So, zombies fall into the gas pump. Logan's people bail on him, hiding in a shack. Truckes saves Logan. Then Logan's men come out looking for trouble. New Bad come in and kill Logan and his men. Oooh, the intrigue. They must be affiliated with the Helicopter People. They don't kill Our Heroes, or order them to put their guns down. They just walk right up to them. Then a truly nonsensical showdown. Our Heroes could be killed in seconds, but they want to show their steel. This just would not happen. Sorry.

If you buy all this nonsense, I'm sorry to inform you that you have officially become a Living Dead, a member of the Brain Dead.

The word "help" is overused
silverton-3795915 July 2020
In the same way that The Walking Dead's writer got stuck on using "safe" and "saved" at least a dozen times per episode, The writers here inject "help" into every other sentence. Do they think that the watchers are so stupid that they won't realize that this crew of characters are obsessed with helping everyone in sight, or in range of their walkies?

Somebody help this crew of writers.

Seems they've decided to be a parody
Ceredon19 October 2019
I have no other explanation for lines like "what's the point of having gas if we can't use it to help people?" Or scenes where a main character has decided to peruse the arts in the middle of the apocalypse...very Nero-esque "Too much phoenix?"

The writers are making fools of their audience, seeing just how bad they can "write" and still have people watch. Pretty bad apparently.

Same old, same boring old

Warning: Spoilers
In every episode we have a few new characters, waiting to be killed. Also, we have a few of main characters in a bad situation and they all (magic!) survive, every time. And when one "big" opponent is dead, well, let's just add another, funnier. That girl Virginia, ohh boy, her "acting" is painful, so is the epilogue of the conflict in the quarry. Watching FTWD just to laugh at awful scripts and acting, there is nothing more pitiful on TV.
