Coheed and Cambria have returned with a new standalone single, “The Joke,” which arrives today along with the B-side, “Deranged.”
Originally recorded during the sessions for the band’s 2022 album, Vaxis II: A Window of the Waking Mind, “The Joke” features the band’s signature twist on progressive rock. Throughout, vocalist Claudio Sanchez carries the melody over a driving beat and layers of distorted guitars, with synth-lead interludes in between.

“The meaning behind ‘The Joke’ is basically: if you need a punching bag, I’ll be that guy,” Sanchez said in a press statement. The song arrives today with a video depicting Al the Killer (a character from the band’s Amory Wars universe) facing off with a Joker character. Stream it below, or if you’d like to get your hands on a physical version, check out the limited 7” colored vinyl editions of the single here.

Last year the Grammys introduced a new category: Best Pop Dance Recording. The purpose of the category was to cleave the dance-oriented pop musicians out of the electronic categories and thus make it fairer for electronic DJs and producers who usually can’t compete against huge names like Lady Gaga or Beyoncé. The category seems to have been a success, giving space to acclaimed artists like Troye Sivan and Kylie Minogue to get on the Grammy stage; Minogue ultimately won for “Padam Padam.” While last year’s set of nominees was quite well-known, this year could produce an even more star-studded pack.
I think it’s safe to say that there are two frontrunners so far, from two mega pop divas. First is Ariana Grande, whose “Yes, And?” is one of the year’s biggest hits. While the song is not as commercially dominant as some of Grande’s other...

Busy Philipps is a fan of the new song “If I’m Being Honest” by Frankie Bird, and so are we!
The indie pop artist dropped the song last week with an accompanying live performance video and then Busy shared a video of herself dancing to the song while wearing a bikini.
“‘If I’m Being Honest’ is an empowering song about the release of all the pent up frustration I had at the end of my twenties as I reflected on who I had been surrounding myself with and who I wanted to let in moving forward,” Frankie said in a statement. “It’s a cathartic anthem about finally knowing your worth and not letting people walk all over you anymore. I was done letting that be my narrative and needed to write a ‘scream sing in the car kind of song’ to let it all go. This song...

Adele paid tribute to Matthew Perry during her Las Vegas show Saturday, hours after the death of the Friends star was revealed.
While the singer never met the actor, Adele — like millions of Friends fans — felt a connection to the hit sitcom, and especially Perry’s character Chandler Bing, who she called “probably the best comedic character of all time.”

British singer-songwriter Adele paused her Las Vegas show to pay tribute to actor Matthew Perry, who was found dead in the hot tub of his Los Angeles home at age 54. “I’ll remember that character for the rest of my life,” the star said of Perry’s ‘Friends’ character Chandler Bing to cheers from the audience at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, site of her ongoing Vegas residency, reports Los Angeles Times.
“He’s probably the best comedic character of all time.” Adele, dressed up as Morticia Adams for the Halloween weekend performance, paused to honour Perry while introducing her song ‘When We Were Young’, about two-thirds through her set, as she worked her way through the audience to collect favourite childhood memories from attendees.

After years of turmoil, including drummer Travis Barker’s 2008 plane crash, singer-bassist Mark Hoppus’s successful battle with cancer, and the departure (and recent return) of singer-guitarist Tom DeLonge, Blink-182 takes what feels like a victory lap on One More Time… The first single, “Edging,” is a pop-punk stomper that, at least superficially, bears all of the Blink hallmarks. But the rest of the singles have been a mixed bag: The über-schmaltzy title track reflects on the group members’ friendship with rather prosaic lyrics—“Do I have to die to hear you miss me?”—while the fiery “More Than You Know” channels post-hardcore while also making reference to the tragedy that frequently surrounds the band.
This dynamic is indicative of the album as a whole: For every triumphant return to form, there’s an uninspired dud. On the opening “Anthem Part 3,” Blink-182’s renewed energy is immediately palpable. Two songs later,...

On their ninth album, Blink-182 are still pondering the riddle that’s always been at the center of their antic-filled career: “What’s my age again?” This time, the answer is pretty clear: old in life, but young at heart. The songs on One More Time are steeped in the sharp perspective of grown-ups who have gone through some shit and wonder how the hell they got where they are. After all, it’s been 12 years since they released an album with their signature lineup of bassist Mark Hoppus, drummer Travis Barker,...

Say Anything have detailed their new album, …Is Committed, and shared the latest single, “Carrie & Lowell & Cody (Pendent).” Stream the cathartic track below.
To record the album, Say Anything mastermind Max Bemis reunited with producer Brad Wood, who previously helmed the emo veterans’ breakout 2007 double LP, In Defense of the Genre.
As the title implies, “Carrie & Lowell & Cody (Pendent)” nods toward Sufjan Stevens’ 2015 album, Carrie & Lowell. In a statement, Bemis explained how the song was influenced by the project as well as his own family trauma.
“‘Carrie & Lowell & Cody (Pendent)’ is named (with the brevity of an early Minus the Bear track) after my affinity for Sufjan Steven’s titular album about His Mommy issues,” Bemis said. “I adore my mom to death and grew up both sparring and worshiping her, enmeshing myself in both her emotional genius and warmth and the wealth of generational trauma she inherited from her Holocaust-laden family.

With a name like Rio Doyle most people would agree that this talented singer was destined to be in the spotlight. Rio doesn’t just have a cool name, though, She also has the talent to back it up. During her blind audition for The Voice, she performed “When We Were Young” by Adele. John Legend was the only judge who turned around, but it was clear that the other judges were also impressed by what they heard. Rio’s low register and the control she had over her voice made it almost impossible to believe that she is a teenager. Lots

With the teams filling up on Night 5 of The Voice’s Season 20 Blind Auditions, the coaches were getting extra finicky. But they did manage to find a few standouts, among them a rocker whose “Zombie” cover left me dead (in a good way) and an R&b singer whose voice was so sweet, just listening to her felt like cheating on a diet. Read on, and we’ll go over all of Monday’s performances.

A TikToker with political connections, a speedo-clad model with a Zoolander complex and a reality competition veteran with a grudge against Meghan Trainor were among the standout auditions (for better or worse) as American Idol returned to ABC for its 19th season on Sunday.
Let’s get that first one out of the way: No conversation about the premiere’s most memorable moments would be complete without discussing Claudia Conway, the daughter of former Donald Trump senior advisor Kellyanne Conway. Joined for in-person support by her father (and virtually by her mother), the 16-year-old presented her best attempt at Rihanna...

Maelyn Jarmon won season 16 of “The Voice” on Tuesday over Gyth Rigdon in one of the closest votes in the history of the show. Dexter Roberts came in third while Andrew Sevener was fourth. Did Maelyn deserve to win “The Voice”? Vote in our poll below and then sound off in our comments section with your thoughts on the winner as well as your opinions of host Carson Daly and coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.
Maelyn was the lone woman in the Top 4 and the only artist coached by John. While this Egot champ had served as a mentor in previous seasons, this was the first time he turned his hand to coaching. The three men still standing were all coached by Blake, who remains in the hunt for that elusive seventh win.

Sound the alarm, Adele is 31! The "When We Were Young" singer shared a few epic photos of her Gatsby-themed birthday bash on May 5, along with a little teaser about upcoming music.
"This is 31 . . . thank f*cking god," Adele wrote, opening up for the first time since her separation from estranged husband Simon Konecki. "30 tried me so hard but I'm owning it and trying my hardest to lean in to it all. No matter how long we're here for life is constant and complicated at times. I've changed drastically in the last couple years and I'm still changing and that's okay."
Last week, Adele seemingly referenced her separation with a hilariously spot-on meme. She let the previous funny photos speak for themselves, but this time, she opened up about the growth she's hoping to experience in the coming year.
"31 is going to be a big ol' year and I'm going to spend it all on myself.

“Just duet” became The Voice’s unofficial motto Monday as Season 16 launched the Battles, which thanks to their bizarreness — “Ok, you guys sing beautifully together… even as you try to blow each other off the stage and out of the competition!” — might just be my favorite of all the rounds. Also, it’s the Battles that let us know if our early favorites are as good as their Blind Auditions made us think that they were. (Don’t let me down, Maelyn Jarmon!)
