Trivia:

Producer James L. Brooks said what inspired this movie was an incident where Brooks saw a man walking with his daughter. He saw them and wondered what would happen if the father committed a crime. Those thoughts were used to create the story.

Goofs:

Plot holes: When Lloyd leaves a message for Diane, he tells her father than he's the guy who sat with her at "the mall." In his written message (seen on screen, and mentioned by Diane in her call with Lloyd) it says Lloyd sat with her at "Bell Square." There are, of course, lots of malls in the Seattle area, and Bellevue Square is not a likely one for Diane's father to assume (if he were making an assumption), as it is not even in Seattle, but in the suburbs on the other side of Lake Washington.

Who says teen romance needs to be perverse? 10/10

Very few films have even tried to be as smart and honest as Say Anything. The film, which is more then 10 years old, still remains to be one of the strongest pieces of romantic cinema. Not only do John Cusack and Ione Skye have perfect chemistry; not only is John Mahoney's character one of the most complicated father figures in the history of film; not only is the screen play delightfully honest; but everything just seems to fit right in this movie. A true treasure
