Warning: Spoilers
(S2. E15) My Live Reaction / Review for The Good Doctor Season 2 Episode 15 ''Risk and Reward''. The previous episode was good and I gave it a rating of 9/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. A new surgeon? That will be interesting. The new surgeon seems a bit egotistical, he definitely thinks he is someone very important. Im curious if he will be part of show or if he is just a guest. Also he doesn't like Shaun, he thinks that he is not a good surgeon because of his autism. He needs to give Shaun time so Shaun can show him what he can do. Its nice that Dr. Glassman talks to other cancer patients. Im glad that they were able to save the baby. Overall this episode was good and I enjoyed it. My rating is 9/10.

Inaccurate but entertaining

As a parent of a child with both a midline defect (omphalocele) and various heart issues I'm very familiar with what the parents are going through in this episode. Their description of the rough choices is accurate but their depiction of how midline defects and heart issues are handled is not. No wrapping of the organs after birth?! Heart and repair surgery at once?! Never would happen. I am glad this show brought awareness to a fairly rare defect but I do wish they'd named it instead of calling it a "bowel issue". I am pretty sure it's not an omphalocele, it's a similar defect called gastroschistis. I suppose it could be a ruptured o though.

What cost?

In this episode Dr. Murphy et al performed multiple surgeries including heart and abdominal on a newborn, of course they saved her. Besides the fact that any patient coming out of such extensive surgery would be on a ventilator with lV lines and fluids running not ready to be put in her mother's arms, what is never mentioned in all these wonderful surgeries (like the face transplant a couple of weeks ago) is the actual cost of the surgery and hospitalization which would be extreme. But of course this is TV so I assume it is all free.
