Forget it Jughead, it's Riverdale

This episode of Riverdale is easily the best of Season 3 so far in my eyes. So many crazy things went down, so many secrets were revealed, and seeds were planted for what's to come in the rest of this season. Overall, I think this was a top-notch episode of Riverdale.

*side note* the noir vibe throughout was really awesome too!!

So much happening... best of season so far.

All this things developing, and they keep coming! Not as a cliffhanger, but at any moment in the episode. Very recommended and probably the most "must watch" episode of the season.

A slight change stylistically, which was nice!

Wasn't expecting it, but the noir vibe was actually quite nice and suitable. Lots of revelations in this ep! Also was interesting to see Mark Consuellos' (Hiram Lodge) real wife take on the role as Hiram's misteress. Considering Consuellos' real son played young Hiram in an earlier episode this season. But there's one other thing.

Read another review pointing out how Veronica explicitly states that they cannot sell alcohol at the Speakeasy, yet underaged Archie was able to get heavily intoxicated - didn't make sense, so that's a major slip up. Other than that, fairly enjoyable.

Good episode, but...

They were serving alcoholic beverages at the speakeasy, something they said so many times that it wouldnt do, Veronica specifically says they can only serve mocktails multiple times since it opened, considering it's run by and full of 18 year olds. The fact that they also spend about 5 minutes each episode in high school, combined with the fact all the actors are in their mid 20s, kind of breaks the illusion that they're supposed to be teenagers.

But I liked the jazzy noir soundtrack!

The Red Dahlia (#3.11)

So many revelations! This episode was not only beautifully directed and written but tied plot threads together and answered many of the outstanding questions: the seizures, the reason for the quarantine, how Claudius fits into all of the events, who killed Claudius in his cell, what really happened to Clifford at the end of season one, who shot Hiram (and why), how did FP suddenly become Sheriff, and what happened to Sheriff Minetta. All of those questions answered in ONE episode, and they all made sense!

I'm also incredibly impressed that they answered questions not only from season 3, but also from seasons 1 and 2, without it feeling contrived.

Definitely one of the best of the season so far and such great homage to Chinatown.

Forget it, Jug. It's Riverdale.

Has to be in my top 5 favourite episodes. It had SO many references to one of my favourite movies, which is Chinatown. Had a very different soundtrack, which was obviously influenced by the Jerry Goldsmith soundtrack from Chinatown.

Riverdale goes full Chinatown

Overall, The Red Dahlia was an interesting episode. It's noir style is definitely up Riverdale's alley and it manages to be the juiciest, most exposition-heavy episode of the season. The reveal of so many outstanding questions caused jaw-dropping moment after moment setting up for something much bigger for this season's end. These high schoolers are way in over their heads and it's surprising that the national guard hasn't gotten involved, but that's just what happens. It's Riverdale.

It's like washing your hands with the dirtiest bar of soap.... and then you are subjected to using a soiled towel that is filthy dirty

I have come to the undeniable conclusion that Riverdale has run its course and after just watching the 46th episode in this series in which the director takes yet another 180 degree turn utilizing a film noir appproach, there is so little substance to this series. I really enjoyed the first few seasons thus I posted a very positive IMDB review on January 27th, 2017, as well as for last seasons episode 31, I posted a second IMDB review on April 19th, 2018. But this season is different, and not in a good way. I have never been a fan of soap operas so if a TV series walks like a soap opera and talks like a soap opera, then I guess it must BE A SOAP OPERA and that is not what I signed up to investing my "relax TV time" in to watching.

I can't say that a single character in the series Riverdale has maintained the same personal traits each week. Instead most of the main characters including Archie, Jughead, Betty, Veronica, Hiram and Hermione Lodge, as well as Cheryl Blossom and even sweet Betty Cooper's parents Alice and Hal Cooper have completely turned from good to bad characters each week, but what they all have in common, is a lack of depth in their characters that seem to completely change on the drop of a dime and it's not that it is just so darn confusing and really irritating, it has simply become a waste of my TV entertainment time.

If you have ever went into a public parks bathroom and attempted to wash your hands with that single filthy dirty bar of soap and then tried to dry your hands on that filthy wet retractable towel dispenser, then you can get a pretty clear picture of how I feel that this series Riverdale has left me feeling after just watching episode 46. In a single word, disappointing.

This episode epitomises what's good about Riverdale, murder, intrigue and twists. The music and theme was also fun big fan of that haha x
