Bu Fu Tianshi or Don't follow the dark side in English, is a mainland Chinese tv series that was filmed in 2005 but wasn't released until 2009. The series was made for honor the police officers who died on duty to protect and serve the public and to show that breaking the law is not giving a good paycheck.

We follow detective Yadong, who is the best policeman in a harbor town south of China that has boat that goes from the town to Hong Kong and Macau. A beautiful town but sadly a town filled with crimes. And the best thief and smugglers have now resident it the town and Yadongs job is to find them. But his life turns upside down when his new partner Shu Huan arrives to active duty, Huan is the son of Yadongs former partner who died on duty. Yadong tells him that he and Huans father were like brother and that his death took him hard and the killer was a 16 year old girl who got away by boat, that's why the harbor police was born. But what Yadong doesn't know is that girl is still in town, and she is now 36 years old now and has a younger sister at age 16 who is a friend of Yadongs little 8 year old daughter.

The series is a great drama, the message is clear despite the low budget and that the extras are always looking at the camera is not ruin the feeling, the characters are all strong, the harbor town is beautiful and the story is intriguing, it's one of my favorite series.
