Vintage and superficial
Jarodaily1 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
A big nod to everything old and vintage. Interesting plot but the choice of title is a bit deceiving, she could've shown finding during her CT scan that her brain reacts or "allergic" to radio signals. The story between Aries and his bestfriend is more interesting than the plot. There's too many vintage stuff and nostalgia in this movie that overshadowed the plot of a girl allergic to WiFi.

Funny and has tender moments
Sirfaro113 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The storyline is so familiar, Vince and Kath and James also tackled a very similar concept. A younger brother has a crush on a girl but the girl is already taken by his big brother. ( In V,K and J: they are best friends). It also follows the same storyline but the girl here has an odd illness that she has to live where there is no wifi. Still, it is interesting to follow the 3 leads and see what happens in the end. There are a lot of funny moments but the sad ending might turn off some audience. Most recent Filipino movies fall to the trap of a happy ending so I like that the writers opt to do the opposite. Although I am not turned off with this type of ending, I wish the writers could have been more inventive on how they executed it.

Deadly boring and silly
luis-ortigao-809-9044108 September 2019
Non-sense plot meets bad acting. The script must have been written by children. Nice movie to fall asleep; minutes pass by, nothing happens and when it does... it doesn't. You end up by not caring at all about poor wi-fi allergic girl, you just want to leave and forget her...

A teenage love drama with a few redeeming qualities.
alhart-2787312 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Pros: Interesting twists in the story you don't expect.

The way the characters genuinely open up and express how they really feel about each other.

The supporting character "Macha" is probably the most lively and enjoyable character in the film. Her short stature, cuteness, firecracker personality, and supportive friendship role all worked together to make her a wonderful character to watch.

Cons: The two main characters spend a lot of the movie in a state of quiet angst about their circumstances. They're always upset about something and we don't get to see anything else about them to give their character's dimension or make them interesting.

For a movie that's about a girl who has to cut herself off from technology to physically survive. You'd think they're would be a meaningful message about of the toxicity of social media or the value of cultivating friendship in a rural setting. But no, the allergy is a plot device to support the drama which then mysteriously and conveniently disappears at the end of the movie.

A very simple title with a very strong message.
gba-9953618 August 2018
I'd love to call this as the most heartwarming Pinoy movie of the year. The plots are cool, the twists are rousing, the conversations funny, and the sceneries fit for a generation too much immersed in today's technology. Yet there is a point wherein everybody could or would shed a tear. And it was this blindsiding moment that kept me and my wife asking "what if's." What a great flick! Hoping everybody would watch and support this Filipino film.

You can't be allergic to wifi
michaelandrewpettersen21 August 2019
This movie promotes and anti science view that I can't abide. There is no allergy to electromagnetic waves.

Heartwarming and an eye-opener.
danieljacobs-1898024 September 2018
I could say that this is the top notcher among all of the Filipino romance flick. Yes, it is. It could be a romance flick but, man I tell you the message was really an eye-opener. The scenes were simple yet, heartwarming. i could say that I can re-watch this over and over.BTW, the color grading was really magnificent. Kudos! to the writer and director of this film! To the actors, they maybe newcomers in the industry yet, they nailed it!

Cringe fest
lowessepatryxia4 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Incredibly cheesy, far fetched, clichè, and cringey. I watched it on a period day where my I needed something... brainless and boy did this not disappoint. The funny thing is that the least cringe-y bit of the movie were the keyboard clickers whatever you call them and I think THEY were supposed to be cringe-y. I wouldn't discount the fact that someone *could* maybe have a reaction to wi-fi at such a dangerous level that they need to go to a place that doesn't have cellular reception but I mean being magically symptom free after seeing a butterfly?! Unless your love interest was Jesus, I'm not sure that's how it works. Very ironic to put so much *magic* and *miracles* on your Lover post mortem. Wattpad story if ever I see one. Super clichè. Anyway I gave it a two because I got what I expected, and the cinematography / filter is great 👍🏼

A not so heavy, heavy teen's romance
chinchinmartirez24 August 2019
Not so heavy because the begining was just like the other tipical love story I always watched, very ordinary, simple but catchy :) I loved the way the best friend machay and aries talked to each other, very realistic and their acting as best friends are not O.A, same with norma, norma's character is not pa-cute, not over confident and maarte na teen, while aries, haist, you will wish to have your own aries after watching it :) The cast are perfect for their characters :) they all did well kudos to all of you:) But heavy on the other part coz of the ending, I felt sad and made me realize not to waste any of my precious time, I should treasure every moment no matter what, make sure that at the end of the day I am grateful to people who make me smile and happy even in a simple way so whatever happens in the end, no regrets and no what if's. I'm 40 and I don't watch movies about teens love story but this movie really caught my attention, worth watching it :)

One million followers in the virtual world is nothing compared to that One special someone in the real world.
richarddillomes7 October 2019
It's easy to dismiss this movie as a cliche of love teams involved in a love triangle with one guy eventually getting the girl and the other getting a different girl and they all live happily ever after. And I wouldn't blame you because early on we're served with one-dimensional characters i.e. Popular Girl on Campus, Basketball Jock, and the Nerd that stalks the Popular Girl...but that's where the cliches end. It might be slow to build on you and there are some loopholes in the story here and there but once they get the ball rolling, that's when the fun starts and by the end you won't know what hit you.

When Norma is diagnosed with EHS (Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity), she needs to move away from the city and the boy she loves in order to recover. Nice way to go around the travelling-to-another-place-to-find-myself trap local movies are currently in because in her case she had to move to a remote place in Batangas (which is also Instagram-worthy, so if anyone knows where it is please share how to get there) in order to be away from Wifi signal which is actually true in certain parts of the country even though it's already 2018. She is visited by her boyfriend's brother as his proxy along with his lesbian friend Macha (who steals the show from time to time) and he keeps her company while at the same time quietly pining over her.

Starring Sue Ramirez, Markus Paterson and Jameson Blake, the first two I haven't seen from anywhere before but Jameson already has 2 Cool 2 B 4gotten under his belt so going in I knew at least he's someone to look forward to. Now while the characters pretty much ran by the numbers, it's what they did with it that brought additional life to the roles they played. I mean the parts could've easily been given to any of the bankable love teams nowadays but they could also easily overshadow the characters with how they usually act therefore we would've seen the actors acting, not the actors assuming the characters. Other noteworthy performances include Yayo Aguila as Norma's mom (#parentgoals) and Angellie Sanoy as Macha.

So why watch? Aside from the much talked about plot twist which is a kicker, there's something for everyone to go and see it. For the Baby Boomers and Gen X, there's a shoutout to their way of courting even before mobile phones and chat services were available. There's also the nostalgia of seeing relics from earlier times such as a typewriter, voice recorder and even a mailbox with actual letters in them. For the Millennials, it's a reminder that while living in today's fast-paced and online world allows us to stay connected with almost everyone, the quality of relationships are sacrificed because of the pressure to maintain and improve on the quantity: More Friends = More Likes = More Validation. This movie reminds us that One million followers in the virtual world is nothing compared to that One special someone in the real world.

Can one be allergic to wifi?
laramia-garcia18 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I am a Cignal subscriber and they hyper-advertised this. I was like the reviewer michaelandrewpettersen. I kept on shaking my head and told myself it was a crazy concept, but when I learned that this movie was written and directed by Jun Robles Lana, then maybe, just maybe he researched about it.

As shown in the movie via Aries' research it is possible, so I did my own researching and this is what I get(and I think, but I am not sure, this is the same research by Aries show on film):

"Wi-Fi and other free to air electromagnetic waves had long been the subject of suspected detrimental health effects. Some even believe they are in some way allergic to Wi-Fi. Unexplained bouts of headaches, dizziness, and even skin irritation have begun to be blamed on some form of severe discomfort or hypersensitivity to electromagnetic fields. The condition has come to be known as electromagnetic hypersensitivity syndrome, or EHS for short, by the World Health Organization.

One recent case of a 15-year old girl from the UK claims that she committed suicide because of her exposure to Wi-Fi signals. Her family claimed that signals at her school made her feel physically sick as well as suffer from blinding headaches. So bad were these, it is claimed, that she found it hard to concentrate. The case was actually reported on by the Daily Mirror."

It's from the Interesting Engineering Website.

Whether it is possible or not, the movie was...I mean, is...surprisingly interesting.

There were scenes there that I wished didn't happen, but it added spice to the story.

Aries said that he hope that his love would heal her, and so it did.

I shed a lot of tears, but there were parts that made me very happy too.

Why did Aries have to go to some faraway place that was even farther than the place Norma resided for months? Why? Oh, that healing love "thing".

The ending is bittersweet, but I still liked it.

Maybe it's not everyone's cup of tea, but for me it was fairly enjoyable.

Endearing
cruzbryan-5439414 August 2021
What i like most about this film is how it tries to weigh-in the means of finding love the old-school and modern way. And just like the other Jameson Blake film, 'So Connected', this movie also reminds viewers about the dangers of social media, but beyond that it also tackles about family issues, friendship and romance - though somehow these minor subplots made the film convoluted. Still this film is endearing and teaches us that while romance can indeed blossom on the net, it is our actual interaction with other people that helps in creating long-lasting relationship.

Worth watching.....
Lampreyan25 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The film has a great concept, but I was expecting the typical cliche of a good ending, but no. The film ends in the most unexpected way (Aries dies). The rest of the film was well made, with the story having unexpected ups and downs. The acting was great, and the cinematography was good.
