Great finale.
gabriel-8015 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This season has been truly amazing. So much pain and suffering, and yet we believe the characters will prevail.

There are no heroes on this show, but real people with good and, no doubt, very bad sides.

The acting is superb in the way that you don't judge it while watching, you simply absorb it, the actors have become the characters. Pretty impressive for such a big cast.

As for Bridgets extreme turn towards the end, I believe she has finally come to terms with her heritage and stop fighting it. The scene which I am talking about is very graphic, but shows how far she has come while fighting everything connected with her dad. As the family comes together to save her life, here transformation is complete. She is now a true Donovan - good and bad.

I really hope for one more season. Probably the greatest show around.

Ray comes through, as usual
kristindwebb21 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Wasn't sure where this was going in the end but I'm so glad it did. As usual, Ray puts everything to rights, while selling his soul in the process. But I feel hopeful about his future, tbh.

He deserves a little "me time" after all he has suffered and iutbhimself through. Tortured soul with the heart of a lion. Thank God he will have someone to listen to him, with no private agenda.

The Bridget thing was the best part of the whole episode imo. And the comic relief was welcome. While seemingly unexpected, upon closer reflection it is 100% in character. Perhaps all of her anger and rejection of Ray was simply internal conflict fighting against what was inevitable. She's always been a Donovan, through and through. She is ultra committed to her uncles and her grandfather. And perhaps she's more like her father than she ever wanted to admit.

And, they don't teach dismembering in school. That's an innate skill.

Exceptional

So many subplots came together in this episode it was amazing. One of the best shows and the the finale went above and beyond bringing the story together. Cheers to the excellent writers. Terry quoted James Joyce from The Dubliner if you are interested in reading it. Thanks Ray!

Absolutely brilliant!

A brilliant finale, will stay with you. And maybe, if you're like me make you look again at James Joyce. A quote of his 'A father, Stephen said, battling against hopelessness, is a necessary evil'.

Great finale of a great season
85122215 September 2019
Greetings from Lithuania.

Ray Donovan, season 6 has ended on a high note. It wasn't the best episode ever, but it was a great one. The opening alone was worth 10/10. There were some unexpected things that happened at the end, but nothing major.

Overall, this season as a whole was by a miles better then previous one, which was the weakest one. This is one was probably the most dark of them all. I will look forward for season 7.

After the traumatic experience of...
junk-279-83216419 January 2020
Mid-Season 4 and Season 5 as a whole were awful (at best) finally the Season 6 seems to recovering.

Its not perfect (far from it) but its watchable and entertaining.

Few plots here and there were VERY THIN but there's hope.

Btw. Is the Donovan family full of serial killers or what?

Mathman104, it's Sam Winslow hanging. Great episode but agree with other reviewers that the whole Bridget thing was stupid, she acted like she had been cutting bodies her whole life. But my only criticism of a brilliant show

One of the worst episodes of a show that rarely disappoints.
Movie-Guy-6527 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Ray Donovan always was a show that left itself exposed with plot holes you could drive a truck through but the quality of acting and engaging characters and stories helped keep it's head above water. Until now. It was a promising 6th season untill the last 2 episodes where this show totally lost the plot (no pun intended). Bridget deciding it's ok to start chainsawing people's heads off. Lena's bizarre hanging of Winslow's henchman. Just a couple of weird moments that even this show struggled to execute and get away with convincingly. I'm hoping it's not a sign of things to come in proceedings seasons.

Not a great ending for the season
Jemae29 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
SPOILERS

This episode was boring and didn't really feel like an ending to me, it felt more like a filler episode with some things happening. A couple things surprised me, like Ray talking to the media and Winslow hanging in her apartment.

The deaths in this episode felt like cheap, weak writing. Too me I don't think it was necessary for Winslow to die, either she did it herself or Ray did it...I felt like that character had more stories in her.

I honestly think there should have been a 13th episode to finish the show.

Revenge....a dish best served cold!
rfwilliams27 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Never written one of these, but so many on here don't get the points that seem so clear to me. First Bridgett's action come from true trauma that she's never been in before. Yes she was always against what her dad did, even when a lot of it had been to cover up her and Connors misdeeds. This time she was actually being used against him and not in a good way. She felt the pain up close and personal and at once was looking for that same dad to show up with his bag of tricks. When she was finally looking capture and death in the face, and knowing only her dad could save her, she bagan to appreciate his skills. In the garage scene, she was facing her kidnappers who overpowered her. She was not acting at someone's bidding but in her own revenge for them and what they had put her through. We like to think we wouldn't be able to exact this same revenge but never having been through trauma like this, who really knows? Next we have Lena's revenge. Ray gave her the opportunity for the same thing when he left Vinny the hit man, who hanged her actress girlfriend alive in the abandoned warehouse for her to deal with. Hanging seemed just revenge for her. Also at the end we see her go into a downtown building which looked like Sams place. Being that Sam ordered the hit man to take out the actress, seems natural that she be next. Then the camera pans to show her also hung in the window. Others may disagree but this is what I saw.

If there is hope for Ray...

There is hope for Ray Donovan, then there is hope for any of us. I like that such an obscure season ended up with this, feeling. I used to think at the end of each chapter that it couldn´t get any worse, but it did, no pause, so.

Back To What Ray Donovan Should Be
chris_p_batter5 May 2019
I left a scathing review 2 episodes into the previous season, it was dire. It was mostly, Ray moping about boring us to tears. This season however, it's back to where it should be, with Ray doing what Ray does best. I'll forget last season even exists, it was pure rubbish.

Welcome back, Ray.......we've missed you!!

By a mile the best season of this show
tolle3317 October 2020
I´ve been hangin´ on for surroundings, settings and overall good entertainment. This (S6) is the best season by far. Perhaps the first truly good season? Too many flaws up untill now. A little crowdpleasing mixed with the pain, and back to back good performances by all the main caracters. Phenomenal ending, leading to a potential change of direction. Heading into season 7 I fear this was the climax of the show.

Out with the bad....lets get back to high octane!
tmaria121 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I can honestly say that this is the best TV series I have watched since Sopranos. Seasons 1-4 were brilliant. Seasons 5 and 6 went from high gear to low gear. I think it was inevitable. I am glad to see this season finale end the way it did. Some satisfaction with loose ends but more importantly the Donovan family is together ...more than ever. But for the last time I fear. Jon Voight as Mick is superb all the way through but in this finale he puts out one of his finer performances. He finally starts to act as a father. I am afraid that season 7 will probably be the last season and as such I do not forsee a happy ending. This family is walking a tight rope and the line is about to snap. We are left with questions from this episode. I am sure they will be answered in season 7. The answers that come will not be happy ones. As for Ray himself I think the fuse has been lit. I see no other ending but a dark one for him. I just hope they take us back into high gear for season 7.

It is obscene what they've done to this series.
DaAshMan7 February 2021
This show has become stunningly awful. From the painfully predictable "twists" to the pseudo-art house cutaway by film school flunkies, to the absolute and utter betrayal of the characters they spent 4 seasons cultivating, the only reason I'm continuing to watch this show is morbid curiosity. Any characters I liked in the first 4 season I now either loathe or are wholly indifferent to.

Jumped The Shark!
clkmellang14 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This last episode tied up lots of loose ends. I loved how Sam Winslow got her commupence-even though I love Susan Sarandon. But I'm sorry-totally not believable about what they did with Bridget Donovan's character-just 3 weeks ago she was telling Ray to get away from her and leave her alone forever-now she's happily chain sawing body parts with her uncles and Grandfather? I kept thinking this was someone's dream sequence! I love this show and how dark it is but cmon!!!! Guess will have to wait until season 7 to see what they come up with

I LOVE THIS SHOW, But...
larry_b14 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I LOVE THIS SHOW, But I must agree that was a very unsatisfying ending. There is a Season 7 coming so it there could've been a little cliff-hanger!

We at least know Ray will go and get some much needed counselling (who wouldn't after the violent, death-filled and weird life he leads!?)

And what ever happened to his cop buddy??

Lastly, and most VERY bizarrely, considering Bridget has always TOTALLY rejected how her father lives his life, is she suddenly OK with chainsawing someones head off???!!! WTF!!!

...still love the show! :)

Love the show. It's the best. Thats why I'm critical of this season finale. The Bridget aspect is ludicrous. What the hell? I'm not going anywhere though.
