Very good start.. with great music

I loved the idea of the show. it is light and well-written. The acting is quiet amazing as well as the dialogue. AND ONE MORE THING: the soundtracks are actually great and perfectly chosen. It's not that much of a comedy so far, but it looks like an interesting series to watch.

Episode 101

Warning: Spoilers
Natasha Lyonne is probably my least favorite actress from American Pie, and her voice takes getting used to, but there is something strangely captivating about this show.

The music and setting make it feel like an artsy film from the 80's, and it feels like it is smartly written.

I am definitely sticking with this.

Nothing in This World Is Easy
Prismark1023 February 2019
Natasha Lyonne certainly sounds like someone who smokes two packs of cigarettes a day. She plays Nadia, a games designer living in New York.

On the day of her 36th birthday party, Nadia encounters her own Groundhog Day.

It starts out like a grunge version of Sex and the City. Nadia has a birthday party thrown by her friends and frankly she is looking for sex. Her friend Maxine (Greta Lee) gives her a cigarette laced with cocaine. She tells Nadia that she is a cockroach, she can survive everything.

Well Nadia certainly seems to be coming back from the dead.

In the first episode the catalyst seems to be her lost cat, Oatmeal.

We might be getting some clues as to what might be happening to Nadia. My initial thoughts were that Nadia might be lost in her own matrix like game.

Going by the first episode (I rarely do binge watches). It comes across as an edgy comedy-drama. I actually found Nadia likeable although there might be something traumatic about her past. That might explain the 40 a day habit.

Groundhog Day with big hair.

Nadia (Natasha Lyonne) is an independent brash, in-your-face New Yorker with hair to match. She loves cats and has a 'staying dead problem'! Her theories to-date are a mid-life crisis, cocaine or menopause.

This Groundhog Day plot has the potential to become cliché, but the first episode is a strong beginning.

Very good indeed

Warning: Spoilers
I'm always a little slow to buy into the much hyped dramas, but after this first episode, I'd say the hype is justified, this was smart, imaginative, totally entertaining, but best of all was the sensational use of music throughout.

Sure it had a Black Mirror feel to it, and even though I don't think you could put a case for it being in perhaps the same class, it's still a really great watch.

Smart, funny, and great to watch something that leaves you wondering, where on Earth do they go from here?

Great start, 8/10.

This comedy drama has caught my attention

"Russian Doll" is a unique television show. It's high concept; a young New Yorker keeps reliving the same day, "Groundhog Day"-style.

Beautifully shot with a great ensemble cast and a kick-ass soundtrack, I'm genuinely curious to see where this series goes.

Groundhog Day!
bmcraec2 February 2019
My initial thoughts were that this is essentially Groundhog Day as a series, with a GenX female Gilbert Gottfried in New York. Or maybe Memento with less tattoos. While the basket of tropes being used are all prime Grade A specimens, the fun of watching them get woven into familiar yet novel twists works well so far, three episodes in. I hope it doesn't devolve into a procedural, but the characters and their interactions are sufficiently engaging that has grabbed my attention, and impressed me enough to recommend it to others. Nicely done.

Just started watching'! She is fantastic!

She attracts you to the character!

Love it!

Seems like Madonna meets After Hours with all the strange things that happen in NYC!

I have not been this bored watching a pilot since... I can't even remember. I'm disappointed as I really wanted to like this.
