Some of the greatest comedic actors in Hollywood are known best for their un-shying and generous humor with Robin Williams standing on a pedestal above them all. No matter who the actor encountered, they were all left in an uplifted mood because of his ability to make anyone in the room laugh. No matter how serious the mood, Williams always had a way to bring back the smiles on people’s faces.

Although comedians are more used to making people laugh, there are rare instances when they too find themselves in a fit of laughter because of one reason or another. Making Williams laugh would be another feat of its own, one that many could have only dreamt of achieving. However, Dead Poets Society star Josh Charles found a way.

Wendy Williams’ hit television series ended prematurely due to substance abuse and psychological issues that plagued the talk show host. But before its conclusion, Williams already secretly planned out how many seasons her show would have.

The Wendy Williams Show took Williams’ star-power to the next level, putting a face to the voice that entertained millions. The series lasted for 13 seasons before its 2022 finale, and started with a simple phone call her ex-husband Kevin Hunter received.
“Prior to being on television, I was an award winning nationally syndicated radio personality,” she once told Forbes. “I spent over 20 years doing that so I already had my name out there. It was just a matter of somebody wanting to do something with me and take it to the next level. Thank God...

During a recent appearance on Bill Maher’s podcast “Club Random with Bill Maher,” actor Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian) discussed the parameters placed on actors today when it comes to things like “blackface.”
Of course, by this point in the interview, they seem to have had a few drinks, so I’m not sure he would say this under other circumstances.
Here’s what Williams said:
Williams cited the performance of Lawrence Olivier’s performance of ‘Othello’ where we wore blackface and apparently pushed his butt out, saying, “When he did Othello, I fell out laughing. He stuck his a$$ out and walked around with his a$$ because Black people are supposed to have big a$$es…I thought it was hysterical. I loved it!”

It is absolutely wild to think that Robin Williams got passed over for the part of Remus Lupin in the Harry Potter series because he wasn’t British! Now, while David Thewlis undoubtedly did justice to the character, one can’t help but wonder what kind of magic Williams could have brought to the role. Because one can never accept Williams to be a wrong choice for anything! The Harry Potter crew really missed out on something special with that one silly rule.
Robin Williams in Jumanji (1995) Robin Williams Was Denied the Role of Remus Lupin Because He Wasn’t British
Robin Williams, known for his extensive Hollywood career and a string of iconic roles, is often regarded as one of the few actors universally loved in the industry. Many would assume that Williams could land any role he desires.
However, that wasn’t the case when he wanted to enter the Harry Potter series.

Billy Dee Williams’s Lando Calrissian is iconic, to say the least. The actor brought a level of flair and charm to the smuggler, playing the role many times in the Star Wars franchise. While there is no way to replicate how iconic his performance was, Donald Glover managed to add his own essence to the character when he played a younger version of him in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

While the 2018 film did not do that well with audiences, Calrissian’s character came out soaring and Glover managed to bag a solo project. Since then, however, there have been many speedbumps that have hampered its production. That was, until now.

Jumanji is a film that had its fair share of jumpscares but was overall a beloved film that several grown-ups today remember watching fondly. However, a theory has been making the rounds on Reddit, which paints the entire film in a much darker and sinister light.
Robin Williams in Jumanji (1995)
According to the theory, Jumanji as a game has a lot more dire consequences than we realize. This stems from the fact that when the game ends in the present, Alan and Sarah find themselves back in the past, back to when they started the game. Not only that, but they also remember everything that transpired in the timeline, even though it has never occurred.

Billy Dee Williams, renowned for his role in The Empire Strikes Back, has opened up about a flirtatious encounter he allegedly had with Marlon Brando in his upcoming memoir titled What Have We Here?
The memoir sheds light on a party that Williams attended at Brando’s residence, accompanied by his friend James Baldwin. Williams recounts a conversation that took place between him and Brando in the library, where he sensed Brando’s romantic interest.
Williams clarified, “I prefer women.”
According to Williams, the conversation with Brando eventually shifted towards leftist politics, which provided a deeper understanding of Brando’s talents as an actor. Williams acknowledges that this experience was not the first time he has received romantic attention, and explained that he has been hit on throughout his life, regardless of the individual’s gender or sexual orientation.

While expectations for Mescal’s Aftersun nomination had gained traction in recent weeks, it was still uncertain whether he would be named – however, the doubters were proved wrong.
Mescal was nominated alongside fellow first-time nominees Austin Butler (Elvis), Colin Farrell (The Banshees of Inisherin), Brendan Fraser (The Whale) and Bill Nighy (Living).
The actor’s nomination is especially impressive considering Aftersun was his first lead film role after his breakout appearance in the Sally Rooney adaptation Normal People, which was released in 2020.
Reacting to the news, Mescal said in a statement: “This is truly a special moment for everyone involved in Aftersun. To be recognised by the Academy is such an insane honour and I’m so utterly grateful. I want to dedicate...

Earlier this month, Serena Williams announced in her cover story essay appearing in the September issue of Vogue that she’s eyeing retirement. She didn’t give a deadline for her retirement but implied strongly it’ll likely be soon. Speculation is that the current U.S. Open will be Williams’ final tournament as a professional tennis player.
OMonday Williams played her Round 1 match of the Open against Danka Kovinic. Had she lost to the 27 year old, it could have been Williams’ last game. She went on to win the match, but the U.S. Open organizers were prepared anyway just in case. So it was after the match ended that Williams received a special ceremony in which first Gayle King then fellow tennis legend Billie Jean King paid tribute to her.

“The Daily Show” correspondent Jordan Klepper attended yet another political rally to talk to Trump supporters about the state of the country, this time in Wisconsin. While there, he touched on the issues plaguing those voters the most, like the 2020 election fraud conspiracy.
“I’m not going to be a conspiracist or anything like that,” one woman told him. “But, I just watched a movie last week with Robin Williams in it. It was called ‘Man of the Year.’ And guess what? They had election fraud back then. The machines are switching to doing [things] electronically, and they were counting wrong.”
The 2006 film to which she refers stars Williams as a comedian and the host of a news satire program who decides to run for President, and a malfunction with a computerized voting machine gets him elected.

Following the death of actor Fred Ward, several of his former costars, including Kevin Bacon, Matthew Modine, Lou Diamond Phillips, Richard E. Grant, and Kate Mulgrew, shared their memories of working with the charmingly gruff star.
Bacon shared a photo of himself and Ward from the 1990 cult hit “Tremors,” writing, “So sad to hear about Fred Ward. When it came to battling underground worms I couldn’t have asked for a better partner. I will always remember chatting about his love of Django Reinhardt and jazz guitar during our long hot days in the high desert. Rest In Peace Fred.” The two reunited in 2018 for a “Tremors” TV pilot that sadly was not picked up.

Organizers behind the Oscars are pulling out all the stops to land an iconic performance from best original song nominee Beyoncé, multiple sources close to the show told Variety.
While the superstar made nary an awards campaign stop over the past months in support of her track “Be Alive,” co-written with artist Dixson for the film “King Richard,” Beyoncé’s camp has been in deep talks with producers to mount a satellite performance of the song — one that would possibly open the show, and broadcast live from tennis courts in Compton, Calif. The concept began solidifying last Monday, three individuals with knowledge of the talks said.
The location, of course, is where sports legends Venus and Serena practiced relentless drills in their youth under the watchful eye of their father, Richard. One possible scenario would have Will Smith, who plays the titular character in the film, appear onsite with Beyoncé...

Will Smith and Warner Bros. might find themselves courtside over the studio’s upcoming film “King Richard,” following the life of tennis greats Venus and Serena Williams’ father Richard Williams.
TW3 Entertainment and Power Move Multimedia filed a lawsuit for, among other things, breach of contract on Wednesday against Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment production company and Warner Bros, as well Richard Williams himself, his son Chavoita Lesane, and production company Star Thrower Entertainment and its key executives.
“This case presents an unfortunate and tawdry situation: The cold and calculating misappropriation and interference with Plaintiff’s intellectual property,” the seven-claim complaint reads.

Will Smith’s movie about the life of Serena Williams and Venus Williams’ fathere may still be shut down from concerns over the coronavirus pandemic, but King Richard certainly is being served in the courts thanks to a potentially multimillion-dollar breach of contract lawsuit.

The View will be down one of its main voices next week: Longtime co-host Joy Behar is taking at least one week off as a safety precaution against the coronavirus pandemic.

Though Alan Ball’s latest film “Uncle Frank” is not autobiographical, it is very personal, and it led him back to directing and back to film for the first time in over a decade. And in order to write this story, he had to get in touch with his roots.
“I’m a playwright, and I’m from the South, so I have an inner Tennessee Williams, and over the years it took off and became ultimately what it is now, ‘Uncle Frank,'” Ball said at TheWrap Studio in Sundance.
“Uncle Frank” is set in the South in the ’70s and follows a gay professor named Frank (Paul Bettany) returning home for his father’s funeral as he grapples with the decision to come out as gay to his family. The film blends a coming-of-age story for Frank’s niece (Sophia Lillis) with some road trip comedy and drama between Frank and his nurturing,...

More than half a century after its theatrical release to cinemas across the country, I sat in a stuffy English Literature classroom, the room dark and eerily silent, as we drowsy students watched the movie Sweet Bird of Youth - tragedy of St. Clouds’ many eclectic citizens and stars unfold on the projector. A literary work that has been aptly described by my teacher, Mr. Shannon, as a “Tennessee Williams play written to sound like a Tennesse Williams play,” it is infamous for its sardonically brusque depiction of Hollywood stardom and the sex-driven, drug-ravaged failure to attain it.

Alan Ball is in Sundance today to premiere Uncle Frank, a drama set in 1973. An 18-year old and her NYU professor uncle take a road trip to their South Carolina home to bury the prof’s father, who rejected his son when he learned he was gay. The trip will rear up past trauma that Frank has done his best to suppress. The road trippers are joined unexpectedly by the prof’s lover Walid in a drama about family, tragedy and forgiveness. While Ball won an Oscar for his very first movie script, Best Picture winner American Beauty and followed with an Emmy TV career including Six Feet Under and True Blood, this film is so personal to him that he’s especially nervous about his first Sundance premiere. Paul Bettany, Sophia Lillis, Margo Martindale, Judy Greer, Steve Zahn, Peter Macdissi and Stephen Root. Here, Ball talks about this love...

Ascending queens Elizabeth (“The Crown”) and Victoria (“Victoria”) face off in the Emmy race for Series Original Dramatic Score, while old Hollywood (“Feud: Bette and Joan”) counters Russian classicism (“Fargo”) for Limited Series, Movie, or Special Dramatic Score.
Meanwhile, political (“House of Cards,” Taboo”) and survival overtones (“Planet Earth II” and “A Series of Unfortunate Events”) clash in the Series category, as well as war (“Five Came Back,” “The White Helmets,” “Suite Française”) and culture (“O.J.: Made in America”) in the other category.
Not surprisingly, the odds are with Rupert Gregson-Williams (“The Crown”) and last year’s “Mr. Robot” winner, Mac Quayle (“Feud”), for their respective retro scores. While Williams reached for orchestral nobility, Quayle went for more orchestral glam.
“The Crown” — “Hyde Park Corner” (Rupert Gregson-Williams)
The score for showrunner Peter Morgan’s drama about the rise of Elizabeth II (nominated Claire Foy) was all about restraint, given her sense of calm.

The story of the remarkable rise and horrific disasters that befell motor racing supremo Sir Frank Williams is told with unusual senstivity and openness
Here is a documentary profile of celebrated Formula One team owner Frank Williams that, while covering all the bases that its petrolhead/motorsport fanbase would expect, also manages to excavate some unexpectedly intense emotional baggage lurking under the surface.
Williams, of course, is one of the greats of British Formula One, a link to the 60s and early 70s era of high-risk, often-fatal daredevil circuit racing; Williams himself lost his first driver Piers Courage in 1970 at the Dutch Grand Prix. This film does a nice job of trying to explain some of the rarefied mechanics of Formula One, and how Williams toiled for years to improve his cars’ performance to top-level standard. As director Morgan Matthews tells it, Williams’ decision to appoint Patrick Head as his...
