Wheel of Fortune viewers are livid and have accused host Pat Sajak of cheating a contestant out of $50,000.
While Pat Sajak finishes out his 41st and final season as the host of Wheel of Fortune, fans of the show have been more outspoken about his behavior on-air.
In recent months, many have claimed that Pat is robbing contestants of big money, either because he heard them incorrectly or he has a personal vendetta against them.
During a recent episode of Wheel of Fortune, a contestant named Tamara from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania tried her hand during the game’s Bonus Round.
The category was “What Are You Doing?” and after being supplied with the customary letters R, S, T, L, N, and E, Tamara chose her own, G, D, B, and A.
This left Tamara with a puzzle that read “_ _ _ N _ N G / A / B_ _ _ / _ L _ B.”

Stars of Saturday Night Live and Shark Tank aligned in SNL’s January 27 episode as host Dakota Johnson played a book club member with an improbable million-dollar idea. And if you live for Johnson’s “That’s not the truth, Ellen” energy, the Madame Web star’s cutting wit was on full display on SNL, as you’ll see in the highlights below. In Saturday’s “Book Club” sketch, Johnson’s catty character told her fellow club members that she’s getting ready to pitch a product on Shark Tank. That product is a T-shirt that reads, “Don’t ask if I’m okay. I’m okay. But if everyone starts asking if I’m okay, I might start crying.” Confused? So were the other club members. “Is it, like, a special type of T-shirt?” Sarah Sherman’s character asks. “Or is it just a T-shirt that says that on it?...

Exclusive: We understand that Amazon Studios MGM Senior Production & Development Executive Sandino Moya-Smith was unfortunately part of the cuts made by the streaming/theatrical studio this morning.

Consider the opening scene from Marvel‘s Eternals. A teenage boy picks up a power drill and switches it on. As the whirring of the motor intensifies, the boy puts the drill to his ear and slowly, methodically. pushes it in.
What? You don’t remember that scene? Probably because it comes not from the 2021 movie Eternals, but from the 2015 television show Eternals. Moreover, it comes from a treatment from writer John Ridley, who had been hired by Marvel to develop the show, which never came to fruition.
Unlike Inhumans, another unpopular Jack Kirby tale about an anti-social group of superpowered weirdos, which was announced as a movie but became a TV series, Eternals began as a television program before it transitioned to a movie. A veteran of television, movies (winner of the Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar for 12 Years a Slave), and comics, Ridley seemed like the perfect person...

If you’ve got a good memory, you might just recall that John Ridley (12 Years a Slave) was tapped to develop a Marvel TV series for ABC way back in 2015. The project didn’t move forward, but while speaking on the Comic Book Club podcast, Ridley revealed that it would have been an Eternals TV series.
“It’s not in the works anymore,” Ridley said. “It was a television version of The Eternals… but good.” Marvel Television was in charge of the small-screen side of the MCU at the time, but when they were folded into Marvel Studios, the project was officially scrapped. However, Ridley believes that his Eternals TV series would have been better than the movie which was released in 2021.
Related Kit Harington says Black Knight was never going to be in the Blade movie
“My version was the good version,” Ridley said. “It was so f***ing weird.

Now that the first weekend of August is in the books, the most competitive part of the summer is over, giving us a reasonably good idea of what this year's biggest movie season looked like. Barring any surprise breakouts over the next few weeks, it's safe to call it a mixed bag. Sure, we had gargantuan hits like "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer," but we had massive flops like "The Flash" and "Haunted Mansion." Yet, while high-profile misfires took the lion's share of the spotlight, it was "Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken" that slipped through the cracks as one of the summer's biggest duds. More than that, it may end up as the lowest-grossing movie in DreamWorks Animation's history.
After a miserable sixth weekend in which the film grossed a mere $30,000 domestically, "Ruby Gillman" has earned just $40.8 million worldwide. This includes a truly miserable $15.6 million domestically. Against a $70 million budget, Universal Pictures...

However, compared to previous entries in the unofficial multiverse like Book Club, 80 for Brady, and Poms, The Miracle Club is a more profound effort. As an actress, Maggie Smith can do no wrong. She’s a lot more fallible at choosing projects, as evidenced by this treacly story about Irishwomen of different generations who travel to the shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in France, praying for a miracle.
Smith is at the center of a powerhouse trio of actresses here, along with Laura Linney and Kathy Bates. And while recent films like Book Club and 80 for Brady have labored the point that older women still like sex, The Miracle Club is set in a tradition-bound 1967 Dublin barely touched by the sexual revolution of the era. That offers no improvement on the often cartoonish roles available for overqualified actresses of a certain age. Directed with pedestrian competence by Thaddeus O’Sullivan, The Miracle Club is about secrets that are all too obvious, and forgiveness you can see coming from the start.

Exclusive: SquareOne Entertainment CEO Al Munteanu says new European studio Vuelta Group is about “distributors who morph into producers — that’s our DNA, believing in film as a theatrical proposition, but also in TV production.”
As Deadline revealed this morning, Munich-based SquareOne has become part of Vuelta Group, a union of European film companies also including France’s Playtime and Scandinavia’s Scanbox, with more companies set to join this year.
SquareOne, founded by Munteanu in 2002, is well known as a distributor of movies including The Imitation Game, Book Club and The Wife. Recent Cannes market pre-buys include Breakout starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Nic Cage’s sequel to Lords of War, and Daisy Ridley starrer Cleaner.
Munteanu, the former MTV and Rtl presenter, has been growing SquareOne’s TV (and podcasting) production footprint in recent years with the German adaptation of Your Honor, starring Sebastian Koch and Paula Beer, and Italian mafia series L’Ora.

Laughs, high energy levels and some outrageous set pieces make this examination of the complex relationship with distant family a fun journey of self-discovery
Writer-producer Adele Lim, who worked on the script for Crazy Rich Asians, now makes her feature directing debut with this likable and brash Asian-American comedy about four women leaving the US for a trip to the Chinese homeland; they come to terms with their roots in various ways, expressing sexualities queer and straight and of course celebrating friendship.
It all barrels along, with a journey-of-discovery narrative template not entirely dissimilar to the recent Book Club sequel; the energy levels are high and there are some outrageous gags, between which the mandatory sentimentality is reasonably managed although occasionally the sex-positivity theme is rather earnestly signalled. And given how contemporary and hip the script is striving to be, and the fact that it’s specifically about four American nationals flying to China,...

‘Book Club: The Next Chapter’ (2023) Ending, Explained: Why Do Vivian And Arthur Cancel The Wedding?
While it’s irrefutably true that where exactly you are in life has more to do with your opinion of a movie than maybe even the movie itself, some films are more demanding than that. To truly let go of your reservations and take Bill Holderman’s rom-com Book Club: The Next Chapter how it was intended, you’d need to tame a lot of your cynicism, and even your politics may need to take a backseat. And if you can look past the tremendous exhibition of privilege the characters wish to pass off as their impassioned revolt against fate, Book Club really does bring about quite a ray of hope, a toned-down version of which could be yours too. Barring the recurrent The Alchemist references that can be chalked up to Carol, Vivian, Diane, and Sharon’s hallmark optimism and the flamboyantly mushy ending, it’s quite refreshing...

In Andrea Bartz's "The Spare Room," pandemic boredom and upheaval sends Kelly fleeing from her cramped apartment in Philadelphia as her fiancé pumps the breaks on their planned nuptials, and right into the arms of her childhood friend - and that woman's husband. Reeling from her postponed wedding, Kelly takes the glamorous Sabrina up on an offer to stay in her and her husband Nathan's guest bedroom rather than cohabitate with her estranged partner.
Things quickly move away from platonic when a threesome between Kelly, Sabrina, and Nathan leads the trio into a polyamorous relationship. Unfortunately, Kelly learns that she's not the first woman to find herself in such a situation with her new lovers - and that their former paramour has disappeared. Universal’s “Fast X” is not bringing in the box office riches that past “Fast & Furious” films used to in North America with a $67 million domestic opening, but it is still finding great success internationally with a $253 million overseas launch to earn $319 million worldwide.
In the U.S., “Fast X” isn’t showing signs that it will top the $173 million final total of its predecessor “F9,” a film that came out during the early stages of box office rebuilding in summer 2021. Its $67.5 million opening has met pre-release projections but is below the $70 million launch of “F9.”
The film also received a B+ on CinemaScore, 82% positive score on PostTrak and 87% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. While “Fast X” will still have some premium format support alongside “The Little Mermaid” on Memorial Day weekend, that good-but-not-excellent audience reception may not be enough to give the film legs to reach $200 million domestically.

Marvel must be letting out a pretty big sigh of relief right now. "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" not only had a great opening weekend, but it had one of the best holds ever for a Marvel Cinematic Universe film in its second weekend. Whereas other recent MCU films such as "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," "Thor: Love and Thunder," and "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" (more on that in a moment) fell off a cliff in weekend two, the finale to the "Guardians" trilogy is proving to be a crowd-pleaser with real staying power. Unfortunately, the weekend's new releases didn't fare particularly well, but we'll get to that.
Per The Numbers, director James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" earned $60.5 million in its second weekend, easily taking the top spot ahead of "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" ($13 million). Meanwhile, that film crossed $1.2 billion worldwide,...

James Gunn’s band of galactic rascals are proving their worth at the box office as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 enjoyed the best second-weekend hold of any sequel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the second-best among any MCU title, according to final weekend numbers.
From Marvel Studios and Disney, the threequel grossed an estimated $62.6 million from 4,450 theaters in its sophomore outing, a mere 47 percent decline and more than enough to crush the competition (that’s up from Sunday’s estimate of $60.5 million, a 49 percent decline). In more good news, the pic crossed the $200 million mark domestically to finish Sunday with a cume of $215.6 million.
Overseas, Guardians 3 took in another $91.9 million from 52 markets for a foreign tally of $315.6 million — including a pleasing $58.4 million from China — and $530.9 million globally.

Many new movies were released nationwide over Mother’s Day weekend, not that you’d know it, based on how poorly most of them did, trying to take on Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3” in its second weekend. Read on for the weekend box office report.
After a moderately decent opening weekend, the conclusion of James Gunn‘s outer space superhero trilogy remained in first place for a second weekend with $60.5 million, down just 49% from its opening weekend, the best a Marvel movie has held up since the pandemic. Over the weekend, it crossed $200 million domestic with $213.2 million, but it has continued to do bigger business overseas, allowing it to cross the $500 million mark worldwide in less than two weeks. This weekend, it made another $91.9 million internationally to bring its global total to $528.8 million, with $315.6 million of that coming from overseas markets. We’ll have to see...

This is what strong word of mouth looks like: Although the opening weekends (plus previews) for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” were nearly the same, that’s where the resemblance ends for the Marvel titles. The first 10 days for “GOTG3” in the U.S./Canada stands at $213.2 million; “Ant-Man” grossed $213.9 in its entire domestic run.
That’s a huge relief for Disney. “GOTG3” fell shy of the $292.6 million grossed by “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” in the same time period last year, but that film fell 67 percent its second weekend. The “GOTG3” drop represented 49 percent.
It helps that it’s a feast-or-famine weekend, with “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” (Universal) at #2 with more than $7 million. James Gunn’s latest MCU film stands at $528 million worldwide so far. Uncertain is whether it can reach the $1 billion level sometimes seen pre-pandemic, especially against...

After “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” suffered the worst second-weekend drop in franchise history, Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” is doing the exact opposite, posting the best second-weekend hold of any MCU film since theaters reopened with $60.5 million.
While some other recent Marvel films like “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” have posted better raw totals in their second weekend, “Guardians Vol. 3” has the lowest percentage drop of any Marvel film in the last two years, dropping just 48% from its $118 million opening weekend.
Globally, “Guardians Vol. 3” has already passed the theatrical run of “Quantumania” in less than 10 days, dropping just 40% in overseas weekend grosses with $91.9 million in its second frame to push its worldwide total to $528 million.

Disney’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3″ was victorious again at the domestic box office, adding $60.5 million in its second weekend of release.
Ticket sales dropped by 49% from its debut, marking an impressive hold… at least for a superhero movie. Across more than 30 Marvel entries, only 2018’s “Black Panther” (down 45%) and 2011’s “Thor” (down 47%) have enjoyed stronger second weekend holds. By comparison, recent MCU movies such as “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” and “Thor: Love and Thunder” declined by nearly 70% in their sophomore outings. Those were brutal falls, even for movies that debuted to more than $100 million. They also served as reminders that Disney’s premier franchise may remain critic-proof in terms of opening weekends, but they’re no longer immune to quickly falling back down to Earth.
That’s at least partially the reason that Disney needs the $250 million-budgeted “Guardians 3” to remain steady,...

The book club can’t topple comic books, as Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” will easily hold off the opening of “Book Club: The Next Chapter” to retain the top spot at the box office.
“The Next Chapter” earned $2.14 million on its opening day, projecting a debut of $7 million for the three-day frame. That’s on the lower end of estimates heading into the weekend. While there’s hope that the Focus Features release will be able to earn a boost in ticket sales on the Mother’s Day holiday, the sequel won’t be able to match its predecessor. Released by Paramount in 2018, the first “Book Club” debuted to $13.5 million before legging out to a $68 million gross in North America — a solid result for an older-skewing comedy, especially before the Covid pandemic impacted the theatrical landscape.
Numbers across the board are down for “The Next Chapter,...

That is better than the 54% drop that “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” fell by in its second weekend in May 2017, though that was from a higher opening weekend of $146.5 million to a $65 million second frame. “Guardians Vol. 3” is very unlikely to match the $389 million domestic total of “Vol. 2,” though the film is still on pace to reach at least $300 million in North America.
“Guardians Vol. 3” is also demonstrating a significantly stronger hold than the near 70% drop that “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” suffered earlier this year and is even beating the $46.6 million second weekend of “Thor: Love and Thunder” last July. It’s a sign that...

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 won’t be mixing it up this week, as it’s expected to remain at the top of the box office yet again. As of now, Guardians is projecting to pull in $54-55 million in its second weekend, with $15 million coming from Friday alone. While this is an approximately 54% drop from its debut last week, it’s still more than enough to keep the competition far away.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie is still holding strong at the box office, draining another $13.3 million, which is good enough to take second again after dropping to that spot last week following the debut of the latest Guardians. Previously, it had held the top spot since debuting to an astonishing $200+ million during the April 7th-9th weekend.
While Guardians and Super Mario will reign, the top five at the box office this week only has one new movie.

Although the new film, Book Club: The Next Chapter may boast a cast of Hollywood royalty, including Jane Fonda, Diane Keaton, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen, a lack of logical forward momentum or functional narrative leave the whole thing pretty much dead in the water.
The sequel to 2018’s Book Club, cleverly titled Book Club: The Next Chapter, follows the four best friend from the first film as they take a the “girls” trip to Italy that they never have, but always wanted to. But, as the intended relaxing vacation becomes an off-the-rails cross-country adventure of mistaken identity and outlandish hijinks, the four members of the Book Club find their friendships, and personal relationships, put to the test as well.
While there is no doubting the talent assembled within the cast of this, and the previous film, there is little to require the presence of the likes of Keaton, Fonda,...

From riding boats in Venice to landing in Tuscany in a helicopter, “Book Club: The Next Chapter” star Jane Fonda had quite the adventure in Italy with Diane Keaton, Mary Steenburgen and Candice Bergen.
Her favorite memory there? “When we went to see the Sistine Chapel at night, and there was nobody else there,” Fonda told Variety at the New York premiere on Monday night. “And we had the whole ceiling explained to us by a great guide. That was a real treat.”
Although the sequel was filmed nearly five years after the original, Fonda never lost contact with her “Book Club” co-stars.
“We’ve seen each other ever since we made the first movie,” Fonda said. “We go to each other’s houses for dinner, we text each other, we email each other, we do Zoom together. It’s not like we were apart and then suddenly reunited.”

With the rave audience reception once taken for granted when it comes to Marvel films, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” has everything it needs for a strong second weekend at the box office. And it will need that, given the competition that is on its way.
Analysts and rival distributors told TheWrap they currently estimate “Guardians Vol. 3” pulling in a $50 million-$55 million second weekend, which would equate to a 54-58% drop from the film’s $118 million opening weekend. That’s higher than the typical second-weekend drop pre-pandemic at 51%, but in line with the 57% movies have averaged since then, based on data box office analyst Bruce Nash has analyzed.
A total in the $50 million-plus range would be below the $61.7 million second weekend of “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” in May last year, but would beat the $46 million second weekend of “Thor: Love and Thunder” and the poor $31.9 million...
