I looked this up on SBS steaming as a way of practising French (of which I have a better than working knowledge).
It is just enough into the future to be the recognizable present. Indeed a future less changed than in the 20 years since I first used a mobile phone. What makes this a stand out is the ramifications of a world with the ability to transfer bodies and minds. It sets out as a cop story 'historie de flic', but is so much more. Personal and political corruption is widespread, and so is religious, a fact seldom mentioned in modern movies, particularly when the religion is christian. Lots of French sex and nudity, I'm getting too old to be shocked or worse, interested, LOL. But be warned.
It is complex, interesting and totally believable, in part because the actors are unknown to us in Australia. If it was Brad Pitt and Angelina or other well known face, this might just be 'science-fiction'. It is so very much more.

Horribly great

Unsettling scenario

Transferts is not necessarily sci-fi in the classic sense. It's way more about mankind, god, believe & the role of religion, science or the government in our society. The series manages to create aside of stereotypes a complex yet effective sometimes even disturbing atmosphere. A lot of questions, some of them unpleasant and controversial, are asked and not all are answered in the show which is another aspect I really enjoyed. The cast is great, the soundtrack perfectly matching, the story absolutely relevant and smart.
Hooked from the beginning to to end

An excellent series which will surprise you and make you think (of ethics, religions, love, metaphysics, etc).
Well-written script, high level direction, and top level acting, this is GOLD. Pili Groyne is particularly fascinating in her role. I loved the show and was very moved by the characters' arcs and the world they live in.
Waiting for Season 2!
Binged

During half the series I had no idea what was going on and the other half was perfectly clear to me. I must confess I had a devil of a time keeping up with the main character. I would repeat everything and then remember who he was and really was, which was kind of offputting because it took a while to do that. But, the acting was excellent and the story, for the most part, was outstanding. I wouldn't recommend this to a slow friend but if you have average intelligence you should like it.
Awesome ethical dilemma / sci-fi drama

This six-part series is riveting TV. An interesting-enough premise (transferring a mind into a new body) soon brings a whole host of unforeseen problems. So many parallels with current issues of refugees, surveillance, police state tactics, church-state divide, political donations, and many more. Episode 2 is a little light on as it takes time to fill some backstory, but the pace and plot soon pick up. Do not miss this.
Enjoyable yarn

Not bad. A few holes on the plot. Most glaring one being the BATI whose job is to recognise and arrest transfers but don't see one in among them but a mother instantly recognised her daughter as being a transfer. A bit more unbelievable than the whole mind transfer thing. What happens to the original host isn't explained. Maybe the producers are hoping for a second series. The love making parts didn't add anything to the story but to me just added a bit of voyeurism. The murder scenes were well done. You didn't see the actual murders but saw the aftermath. Only bugbear to me was the English subtitles. French people don't speak like English speaking Americans. Being able to speak French I had to turn the English subtitles off as they were distracting. That meant my partner couldn't watch it with me as he French is secondary school. But after saying that hopefully a second series will be commissioned.
thrilling, emotional, awesome.

Watched all episodes in one go on ARTE and wondering how this show has so little feedback on IMDb, it got me totally hooked.
If you've loved Ghost in the Shell (the original series), you will like this show even better. Just start watching the first episode if you're still unsure, you won't be disappointed.

Bit too French

By which I mean slow moving, artistic shots which I frankly find boring, lots of nudity/sex which thankfully one can skip forward. Why does French cinema always feel heavy? On the plus side, the script is good and the young girl/villain is amazingly scary. The ending left me baffled. I found no catharsis. I prefer when storylines are nicely tied up rather than left in flux. Still it is worth watching for the interesting issues it raises.
Intéressant Mais Imparfait

Interesting take on the mind transfer genre, but not bold enough to be engrossing science fiction. "Altered Carbon" does it better and is more watchable.
While the premise has potential, there are a few glaring problems with the main plot. The basic issue is with the choice of the protagonist - a very normal guy transferred into the body of a police officer who hunts illegal transfers. Somehow this guy easily becomes the cop. Just plain unbelievable.
The best character is actually the main bad "guy." The series probably would have been much more interesting had it focused on this person instead. In fact, without this bad guy, the series would have been totally unwatchable. Thus this series was overall a wasted opportunity, which the so-so acting and the incredulous plot ultimately could not overcome.

Decided to write a review as this show needs more people to see it and rate it. I enjoyed it immensely and admired the moral questions raised throughout the series. It really delved into the good and bad sides of a society where science and religion are rivals, indeed similar to our current society. I wish more people watched subtitled series!
Faulty premise bit well acted
ablack9021 July 2019
In a dystopian future where technology has advanced to allow consciousness to be transferred into another body, but 'transfers' are illegal and therefore militantly hunted ... it's hard to believe a woman would choose a dirty violent cop who hunts down Transfers to host her dead husband's conscience. If you can get past that, the acting is good and wait until you meet Liza played by Pili Groyne! She alone makes this must viewing and I hope we see a lot more of her!
BINGE WATCHED... GUILTY!

Although watched with english subtitles due to it being french..... well worth the effort.
Was hooked after 15mins into the 1st. Episode.
Good sc-fi premise and surprisingly well acted!
Show religions in the light to which they are... corrupt with greed.
Politicians corrupt... well goes without saying.
Police force corrupt.
Human selfishness.
You get the idea....
10/10.
Highly recommended... if you like sc fi infused with ethics and morals.
Looking forward to season 2!
Totally binge-worthy...excellent

I was lucky enough to see this a few months ago in dubbed German. If you liked the Swedish original version of "Real Humans" chances are very good you will like this too. I hope this show will come to a US streaming service...it will not disappoint those who like dystopian stories, and stories about second chances.

Fantastic schow, the french are really good in such things. Like the british or the northern european countries, they are often much better than American shows with a much lower budget, but excellent actors and stories. It is only a matter of time until an US remake comes out.
Transferred is excellent

Wonderful but not perfect. Well worth seeing.

The French have a magical talent for creating science fiction. They know how to slowly build the kind of suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The series is rife with nuanced characters. A slow burn but
great nonetheless.

What will people do for immortality. The answer is disturbing. I was thanking god that this wasn't available in the real world. I liked the French take on it. We have American version with Ben Kingsley and Ryan Reynolds. That was good too. This just took it further.
WOW!

Binge watched this! Much better than expected. I'm a fan of Altered Carbon, but this is even better cos of it's realistic presentation of something that seems totally unrealistic (at least for the time being) Never seen a French TV series before so very positively surprised by my first one.
UK review. Had me hooked, great binge.

Although the 6 part series is in French, something I would never normally watch, I read the reviews and decided to chance it. Glad I did, had me hooked and guessing from the beginning, I love shows like this. If you're unsure, just watch the first episode then see. Hopefully there will be another series!
Interesting show, but completely missed the point

Warning: Spoilers
I liked the concept, but they got the science completely wrong. How is it logical to transfer the consciousness of a comatose patient to the brain of a mortally wounded person? They clearly say that the donor body was that of someone who was brain dead. Isn't comatose better than dead? How is it that a dead brain will host a new consciousness? There is no rationale for someone to become a body donor with a dead brain. The story seems to have been originally written for surgical brain transfer. Otherwise it is total nonsense. What is implied in the series is that a consciousness revives a dead brain, which is ridiculous!
