Normally, I prefer historically correct history based entertainment. But, I was ok w/ Knightfall's artistic license. We knew of the basic, actual storyline. But the excellent costumes, setting and characters are relatively close to reality. The story is like an old John Wayne Western, likeable characters (good and evil) and up tempo stirring action. We liked the Wayne equal, Landry and the Cavalry (rest of Knights Templar) and damsel in distress (Queen Joan). Naturally it stinks to lose Joan. But, Landry has a daughter to now protect and payback to crush little wuss , Puny Phillip...

So Landry destroys the Holy Grail and everyone shrugs?

I've enjoyed the series, particularly the nods to "Templar lore". A significant part of the continuing fascination/interest in the Order are 1) the connection to the Holy Grail, and 2) the curse upon Phillip IV and his line line.
The entire season seemed to be about the Grail and the growing distrust between the throne and the Order. Suddenly at the conclusion, Landry smashes the holiest and most powerful relic in Christendom and... nobody blinks. Everyone just shrugs and lays in the cut whilst he bawls about his dead side piece (who also happens to be the King's wife) and what do with their kid.

As I wrote in a review of the entire show, I enjoyed it all the way and took it for what it is, a show where the story is just a mean to recreate the world of templars, describing very well "the feeling of an era".
This last episode was a nice ending to this show, with potential to continue with a second season. I am not a scholar or very passionate about history facts but I have the feeling that everything they did here was well documented and done as much as possible to recreate those times, from the settings to the social relations and customs in those times. Anything but the story which is a 100% fantasy, but than again, they intended the story to be just a support for recreating a historical time.
As a conclusion, I would love to see a season 2 and more such shows made, even with not so big budgets and fuss as some main stream fantasy/history shows.
