Enemy Combatant 14.9

My wife and I. We both have theatre background. And we're not about to launch into a boring six paragraph dissertation on any TV show or movie. We would like to think that our light-hearted, semi-non sequitur reviews based upon the silly MST3K model might be enjoyable for some. WE get a kick out of it ; ).

8-stars. Everything starts with an 8-star rating.

Well: Is it hip-hop music or rap?. Either way we don't care but: who would let their daughter (regardless of age) listen to music about hating people, abusing women, drug use; bragging about their possessions and killing the police. And for the writers pandering to this genre? F. U!

5-stars.

Connect emotionally with character(s)? Yes. There is bro love. Between Ellie and her bros.

8-stars.

Umm. Mister pro changing tires? You are turning the tire iron the wrong way.

Tow trucks always burn rubber to get to the job.

Always stand in the middle of the road to flag down the oncoming tow truck. Because, you know, the driver can't see your car.

How did the brick get broken without the gas pedal being, like, totally destroyed?

7-stars.

Why are the brothers left in the squad room without supervision?

Was the commander a ballet dancer? Look at the position of his feet while he's on the autopsy table. En pointe, anyone?

Oh, gosh darn it. Yet another serious threat to national security!

So: the brothers are comfortable with disabling the elevator in a military building.

Sabotage much?

6-stars.

Did he actually say: "The jig is up"? That's, like, 1950's jargon.

Umm: depending on the make, model and year of the vehicle the "navigation system" Abby has would consist of more than rusty pipes and hose clamps.

6-stars.

Dissapinting

I really dislike the 'who is Bishop' s boyfriend? ' subplot. It ruins what would otherwise be a pretty good episode in my opinion. In contrast, I do like the alternative approach to a Gitmo storyline. It is not enough to save the episode though.

All in all solid episode

One of the things I love about NCIS is that its one of the few shows to be an action police drama with quirky humor and can use real life situations to tell compelling stories this episode had all of that in spades and had one of my favorite characters at the forefront. Bishop's brothers brought a lot of humor that the show sometimes doesn't deliver having them go from McGee to Nick to Clay in regards to who was dating Bishop. Abby's graph an attempted at humor just was wrong I love how Gibbs is a parent figure to Bishop but the thought of them together made me barf, happiest goth sometimes you go too far. Wow I didn't expect Bishop to be dating Qasim but they did seem to hit it off when he was introduced in 'Lost in translation'. And as I've mentioned case of the week is usually the stuff I don't pay attention to so I had no clue who the guy the arrested for the Chaplain's murder was. All in all solid episode.

What ever happened to NCIS ?
claudeh-119 March 2017
This series has been going downhill ever since Ziva "left". Kate Todd (2 seasons) and Ziva David (about 8) both made NCIS seem to be plausible. Bishop probably appeals to video game and comic book enthusiasts who revel in her "zany" quirks. Tony Di Nozzo was also a realistic part of this program who helped make NCIS one of my favorites. Today the stories just have lost their realism. It's a shame but after 13 years the original creativity has been sacrificed to a certain audience's desire to see humor in crime stories. Crime usually includes death which is always tragic. Ducky's droll humor was real. The 3 brothers "inside" NCIS interrogating potential suitors is ridiculous. Security limitations would not allow it. Of course in fantasy land anything is possible.

Bishop Is Woman, Hear Her Bore
lnzbyl5 December 2018
While this episode does not qualify for one of the worst episodes of NCIS, it certainly makes the grade for being one of the most boring episodes of the series as well as being one of the most badly written. For starters, the set up the leads to Bishop going to Gitmo is a riff off the first season ep in which the entire team went there. In both episodes, the team was alerted to the threat after a vehicle went off a road in front of non-involved witnesses. Not exactly original. But where the episode falters even more is with Bishop's involvement to the proceedings. About half way through viewing the episode, I began to realize that not only did I not care about what was occurring, I didn't care about what any of it had to do with Bishop. Bishop was a very likable character in the beginning, but now she seems more annoying than anything else. Her statement about bemoaning that an innocent man was imprisoned in Gitmo sounded more like the writer of the episode desperately trying to convey something meaningful and emotional, and failing miserably at both things in the attempt. Basically, this is the type of episode where you wish you could somehow turn back time roughly 42 minutes so not only would you get that time back but you could have the chance to avoid watching such a boring, banal episode in the first place.

What happened to NCIS?

This has to be one of the worst episodes aired. I've been a huge fan ever since it began but sadly it's going rapidly downhill. Bishop's three brothers in the squad room during the investigation! Seriously. The whole sub-story with them is so poor.Very poor writing.

Whaaaat?

How did Bishop's brothers get into the building? Apart from the security aspects they are REALLY irritating. Gibbs' statement that he had authorised the visit does not convince us any more than him - that was just something the script told him to say. Can we please see Bishop's brothers never again?

NCIS going woke
jscottp99-49-2105536 January 2022
My fiance and I are both former Military. Neither of us watched NCIS when it originally aired, but started streaming it a couple of years ago. We have enjoyed most of the episodes right up to this point. We've noticed small rumblings of NCIS "going woke" in a few episodes, but this episode jumps into the deep end of the woke pool with both feet. I'm unsure whether future episodes can save this once entertaining crime drama from drowning. We are willing to give it a few more episodes to see if it can be saved. I doubt it, though.
