The second part is gripping and intriguing.

I was left a little underwhelmed by the opening episode, but based on the reviews I decided to persevere with it, and I'm glad I did. This second part had a pacing, grit and energy that had me pretty gripped. The story has opened up, with various threads pointing towards different suspects, botched Police Investigations, and doubts over David's guilt.

Intelligent casting, it's superbly acted, and as both Daniel Ryan and Elliot Cowan have a line in playing the bad guy it's proving somewhat of a challenge to work out if David's guilty or someone else. Strong production values, although I have had to rewind several scenes where the muffled dialogue is almost impossible to make out.

Second Part over, I'm really into this. 8/10

Episode 2

Episode 2 of Innocent was going to be predictable almost to the point of tedium as it was all signalled in the first episode.

DI Hudson interviews new possible suspects for the killing of Tara Collins. This time she pushes lines of enquiries her boyfriend, the previous investigating officer ignored.

Alice, Tara's sister had a falling out with Tara over money for IVF treatment or the man Tara was having an affair with had an argument with her because he did not want to leave his wife.

Hudson confronts DI Beech and tells him that he did a shoddy job.

The other aspect of the episode was David wants custody of his kids and Alice is having none of it, ignoring her lawyer's advice to be conciliatory. Jack who is nearly 16 years old is determined to spend time with his dad.

The writers are determined to portray David as a loose cannon, this time he gets involved in a fight on the beach and nearly drowns someone. Again the police were not called.
