It's all about evolution.

Once again I'm baffled by peoples reactions to TV-shows. Expectations are high, as they should be, but more often than not the expectations are of more of the same kind. Why?

Ray Donovan is one of the best shows around. Great writing, superb acting, high production.

I will admit that season 4 had a few miss steps in the finale, which came a little to easy, but season 5 has so far already made up for it.

With a bold move I wont spoil, the story takes on a new direction, where plot details are revealed slowly via flashbacks, all while a new story evolves in the way we know and love Ray Donovan for.

I will stay glued to the screen every week of season 5, and hope to see season 6 and 7 as well, which I know the writers are eager to show us - when hopefully the show is renewed.

Big fan, but... Ray lives in Calabasas, which is <1 hr from LA (running joke on S1.) So when he walks his dog, one of the biggest actresses now lives down the street? When he crashed his car and she was in the street, that was high in the Hollywood Hills, no where near there. If she moved to get away from her husband, I guess she picked a suburb in Calabasas, with her same portraits on the wall (guess I'm thinking too much about flashbacks)

Season 5 seems to be less interesting so far. Not sure if the flashbacks are effecting the flow or not. The flashbacks are not seamless.

Still fun to watch, just not as good as the first 4 seasons.

Messier than ever

It's just getting worse with Ray's flashbacks or daydreaming ... not sure what is going on with big movie star Natalie. A really weird dog walking scene takes place and it's unclear why Natalie seemed to live just next door to Ray but also in her villa. It looks like the two knew each other intimately and not only that, but Ray behaved exactly like his scumbag father, cheating on Abs while she was terminally ill.

Nothing much else takes place, except everyone being upset. Terry is again in trouble with his loved one, Conor is again behaving like a dic*head, Mick is still pursuing the illusion of a screenwriting career and Bunch is still a loser.
