Against a backdrop of a young named Bucky we experience life through his young eyes awareness & understanding.
This short 25 minute film captures the Social Economic & Familial constructs constraints & shortfalls; notwithstanding familial dysfunction.
Without a doubt Bucky is a child with special needs & not only that he is a child bereaved. His Special educational needs & issues of bereavement are not met with disastrous effects which invariably affect his entire community.
This film is a snapshot of real life experiences in the SEN community. This short film highlights the shortcomings of (most) Local Authorities. The perpetual failures & wilful neglect in assessing the needs of vulnerable SEN children/young people coupled with the lack of support to those families whom most often are unaware of their right to request a statutory assessment & the Special Educational Needs & Disability Act 2001!
Most poignantly this is an snapshot of everyday SEN life in the black community.
To address these issues & take responsibility is to first highlight & speak out. Secondly is for the LAs to listen & acknowledge that these issues do actually exist; only then can these issues be rectified satisfactorily!
All of my 5 senses were completely & totally engaged watching this!
AN ABSOLUTE MUST WATCH!!!!!
