A Nice Change Of Pace
Harun_Karali20 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This episode felt like it focused a bit more on Esposito and Ryan as the two have a dispute of their own, As Espo passes the sergeant exam and Ryan doesn't. To be honest, It was the funniest episode this season and it was a nice change, As it felt like all we have seen this season is doom and gloom.

Castle is at it again, as he is determined to win back his wife. It feels like the writers are really pushing this, I mean it's like there in a limbo not broken up, But not together, It's frustrating, I hope they don't make this last till the end of the season. It was nice to see Martha being appreciated, She's one of the aspects of the show that we don't get to relish as much as we should. Ever since the fight, It's like Martha has been absent, Wouldn't Castle need his Mother's support? We all know how much she cares for him.

Nose Job

Warning: Spoilers
I'd say this is in the upper 20 percentile of Castle episodes.

The episode manages to have some intrigue and be a ton of fun despite the silly Becket and Castle separation thing. The story-lines involve Espo and Ryan getting their results from the captains exams. Espo passes Ryan doesn't. Jealousy and comedy ensues particularly when Ryan accidentally shoots Espo in the gluteous region, and people start calling Javi Asspazito.

Meanwhile the witness of the murder is a woman with a condition giving her extremely heightened smell. She is comically appalled by every smell. But Castle sees her heightened sense as particularly useful and an excuse for him to get involved in the case with Beckett. At first the Cops can't stand her relentless disgust toward everyone and every smell. Castle spends much of the episode trying to convince Nosey to leave her apartment and help. She turns out very useful and enjoys helping more and more over time. She is capable of determining a fake Van Gogh due to the oil paint being too wet and able to recall the sent of the killer. They also at one point have a police lineup for sniffing rather than seeing/hearing. There's a twist for the murderor, like usual. Nsey was also able to reassure Castle that Beckett still loves him because she can smell pheromones. So at least Castle can be a be a bit less desperate moving on.

Overall I enjoy the story-lines of Castle having to develop excuses to be involved with the cases in order to win back Beckett. But I wish the Castle and Beckett tension was due to something a bit more substantial. If currently seems very forced, and I know I'm not alone in that regard.

One of the best episodes...

The show had humor, pathos and a quirky sniffer. It was funny and quite enjoyable despite the never ending soap opera of their split.

Funniest episode of the whole series!

This is the funniest episode of the whole series. Stephnie Weir as "The Nose" is comic gold. I laughed like crazy throughout the entire episode. Do yourself a favor and be sure to watch this one!

Just right for this series

The writing in this episode is so bad, it's actually quite good. It is just the kind of ridiculous that Castle is known for.

There are many funny moments. I especially liked Castle being decontaminated. Likewise the joke about Esposito being shot.

Stephnie Weir, as Mia the Nose, fits the role perfectly. She is totally rude and annoying and yet the story makes her somehow appealing in a sympathetic way. Weir totally steals the episode!

Even the silly saga of Castle and Beckett's estrangement fits briefly in a funny way.

It wasn't supposed to be like this.

Warning: Spoilers
Absolutely dreadful for Castle. Yes, I was hoping that Beckett would come to her senses and return to Castle, perhaps thinking that it was a hasty decision to make, but instead she decided to gather the rest of her clothes (I was wondering, where she was staying).

Terrible decision to separate our beloved duo "Caskett" Mia was awesome as the nose and yes, she gave Castle some good advice in the end., while their gestures of smelling each other's pieces of clothing means they definitely still love each other, so why must the writers torture our duo like this?

What a shame, for one of the greatest series of the entire eight seasons (2009-2016)

lost it

If I were Castle I'd have let Beckett go last season. She's become obnoxious. I'm not that patient. And since the first time they slept together I stopped caring much for this show. They did right by canceling it.

Most annoying trait
nemesis-8827 November 2022
As usually, the TV show producers mock the whole group of people they know NOTHIING about. People with hyperosmia are not that rare. And they are NOT crazy like this talentless actress is portraying them. They do not walk around wrinkling their noses at bad smells, and don't insult people around them. And NO, hyperosmia is NOT "like autism", Mr. Desperate Writer, whoever you are. Most of them have more or less usual jobs. A VERY small number of them do work for perfume companies, but that requires a certain talent. See, good sense of smell doesn't make you a perfumer any more than good vision makes you a Rembrandt. WHY the writers decided to mock those people is beyond me. Likely, part envy, part habit of mocking anything they don't understand. And a huge dose of indecency. A truly annoying episode.
