Castles on a Plane
sini-20025 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
"In Plane Sight " is a light and breezy episode back with the missed Castle / Alexis as the smart murder-solving duo. However this time they face murder that happens on a flight going to London. The idea is not the most original for sure , but somehow it works. Even some things seem a bit impossible to solve in air, its fun to watch as the story and of the whole "who done it". Though the ending was not that shocking, and could have been better. Why didn't she just sue the company instead? I am sure it's illegal for a company to remove your pension like that. Also nice easter egg for Lost fans :D.

Catchy

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was brilliant, really brilliant! I love how Castle can't stay away from a murder, no matter what he is doing and I have seen some other TV shows depicting crimes on a plane before, so l knew it was going to be a tough one. it was a real challenge for Castle to solve this without Kate, the boys, the lab and so on, but Alexis reminding she did an internship with Lanie was a nice touch driving us back on memory lane. Castle may not be a real cop, and the way he conducts the interrogation of the alleged Syrian terrorist shows that he still needs lessons from his wife, but he is an investigator (former PI, nonetheless) and, more important, he knows when to trust his instincts, despite what appearances say. The plot is well written, the turn from a possible terrorist attack to a revenge plan, ending with nothing else than a theft being a nice line of events. Oh, and Castle finally curses, or almost does (There is a snake on the motherflying plane)

A Different take on "Castle"
Jackbv1235 February 2022
The basic appeal of this series has revolved around the interactions between Castle and Beckett, but the interactions between Alexis and her dad are a close second. This episode capitalizes on the latter. Molly Quinn steps up and effectively replaces Stana Katic as Castle's investigative partner. Alexis fills Beckett's semi-heroic role.

The mystery is a good one with suspicions moving from one suspect to another. I said that Alexis assumes Beckett's role as one of the key heroines, but Castle has to assume the role of lead investigator. He displays some self-deprecating lack of confidence in this role, which reveals a lot about his character since any fan of the show knows that Castle's experience is more than enough to justify that role, and it is frequently his out of box thinking that leads to case closures. To put my thoughts in another way, this episode gives the writers and viewers a chance to look at the dynamics of main characters in a fresh way.

Meanwhile it is Beckett who sits at home and worries

This episode is far more than a rip-off of other death on airplane murder stories. It is a new look at some of our favorite characters.

Fake
Aries_Primal6 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This cannot be more fake - some crazy desperate chick is pointing Castle's daughter with a gun and he is just staying there, not moving to protect her? And I am actually sick and tired how Ryan and Esposito are coming in the right moment and always have a clue, just in time, it's in every episode! Also the fact we have a few suspects and it's always the last one. They never catch him from the first time. I am bored, so so bored. Can I vote with zero?

I Hate Snakes

Warning: Spoilers
I love this show. I was hooked from episode one and haven't missed a free hour binging it. It's my guilty pleasure. I would take down anyone who tried to besmirch it. That being said, this episode...really? Richard Castle has always walked a fine line between goofiness and stupidity but he comes off as downright moronic at times throughout this episode.

  • A person was murdered on a plane flying 39,000 feet in the air, I'm pretty sure it's understood by everyone that the killer is probably still on it somewhere.

  • The staff and Castle and Alexis are understandably nervous but they didn't even TRY to appear as if nothing were happening. They couldn't have been more obvious if they got on the intercom and asked the killer to pretty please meet them in the back of the plane.

  • When wanting everything to appear normal, holding a staff meeting in plain sight while giving everyone the stink eye isn't the best idea, probably. I have to assume the killer was sleeping or blind and deaf or dead and not at all aware of his surroundings or that all the flight attendants are freaking out and looking at everyone suspiciously.

  • Not only do they not use their indoor voices, they go ahead and decide to ponder the case out loud. With the NYPD. In public. Over FaceTime. I'm not sure why they didn't just bring in the rest of the first class passengers to brainstorm with them. Also, murderers apparently always fly coach. It's in the manual, I guess. Separated by a soundproof curtain.

  • Oh, cool. We stopped trying to keep things private and have now resorted to screaming at a sleeping man. Thank goodness we had a flight attendant screaming that they had already caught the suspect so that no one would pay attention to whatever it is that they're doing.

  • For the love of god, isn't it enough that the audience knows your brilliance at figuring out a crime scene, do you really have to do all your thinking SO LOUDLY? As was pointed out earlier in the episode, the killer is still on the plane. And the killer along with everyone else is now aware that you know that they know that you know that they're there. Or something. Whatever. Even dead Air Marshal Ford heard who you're suspecting.

  • This entire situation was over a watch. And a sweet flight attendant whose pension was taken from her. Well. Okay.

Not the greatest episode I've seen, and I'm noticing that Castle has been annoying me quite a bit in season 7, but the show is still pretty awesome. I'm not happy with the way they wrapped up his disappearance story arc, tying it up in a pretty bow and hoping that we will just forget that it happened and why he was gone for two entire months but these things usually happen on long-running shows. The writing and the chemistry between all the characters on this show are what keeps me coming back. I'm sad I only have one season left to binge!

One of the dumbest episodes yet
kofila15 April 2021
Oh boy... I thought the last episode was stupid and then this turd came. I don't even know where to start but you know you're in for a debacle when somebody kills someone during a flight and one of the main characters says: "the person who did this is still on the plane!" Yeah.. no duh, stupid. A plot so ridiculous with so many implausible red herrings and lines of dialogue written by a third grader. The show is getting dumber and dumber. Sad really..

Oh My God Stupid Lazy Writing
dlmcclellan-247697 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Okay. So there is a murder on the plane and as per usual they go thru several million suspects before the perp outs herself.

But...Before that.....So, there sits Castle and his kid talking on an effing speaker phone about the case while sitting in their seats with passengers all around them. I mean. Come on. What kind of idiots do they think that we are? I didn't watch this show in prime time, just stream in the background and I put up with a lot of stupidity to please my family who wants to watch. But this was literally the dumbest thing I've ever seen. My intelligence has been insulted so badly I no longer respect it!

The plot from a boring hell
arntjohnsen26 April 2021
This gives episode gives the previous one a fair fight of which is the most stupid. Apart from seeming like the last possible storyline and found in the bottom of the barrel, the plot itself is an offense to the viewers.

The low point of the episode is when they state "the murder happened mid air and that the killer is still onboard". Duuuuhhh.

Hopefully the last season cannot drop to such a low as this.
