The show opens with Hunter Hearst Helmsley taking on Sid in the first round of the Intercontinental Championship tournament. We have another first round Intercontinental Championship tournament match, Steve Austin versus Marc Mero. Mark Henry is Jerry Lawler's guest on The King's Court. Mankind makes short work of Alex Porteau. We see a report on WWF Superstars at the Canadian National Exhibition. Bob Backlund brings out the Iron Sheik and says that the Sheik will be training Backlund's new protege, whoever that is. The main event is Shawn Michaels defending the WWF Championship against Goldust. Pretty good show, other than the squash match.

Intercontinental Title Tournament

Sycho Sid Vs Hunter Hearst Helmsley

Not only does Sid win with a powerbomb, but Mr. Perfect steals the woman Hunter came out with. This was during Triple H's infamous losing streak due to punishment from the curtain call incident. The best thing I can say about this match is how over Sid was with the crowd.

Intercontinental Title Tournament

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin Vs Marc Mero (W/Sable)

Mero wins by DQ. These two have good chemistry with each other, but this is their weakest match here by far. Neither could afford to take a clean loss here, so I guess the finish was fine.

**

Next, Jerry Lawler interviews Mark Henry. Jerry Lawler challenges Henry to a wrestling match. Henry says he hasn't had enough training yet. Lawler calls him a coward. Henry gets mad and decides to accept Lawler's challenge.

Thoughts: Henry was pretty green at this juncture, and it showed.

Mankind (W/Paul Bearer) Vs Alex Porteau

Mankind wins with the Mandible Claw. During the match, JR announces that Diesel & Razor Ramon are on their way back to the WWF. They would turn out to be fake Razor Ramon, and fake Diesel.

3/4*

Bob Backlund brings back The Iron Sheik to the WWF. I'm not gonna recap it. I'll just say that the amount of botches in their promos is astounding. It was unintentionally hilarious.

WWF Championship

Shawn Michaels (C) (W/Jose Lothario) Vs Goldust (W/Marlena)

Shawn wins with a moonsault. This was a good little match that was hindered somewhat by the commercials. I wasn't looking forward to this one going in, but they made a liar out of me. The finish kinda protected Goldust as well.

**3/4

5/10 overall.
