Justin Timberlake’s promotional tour in support of new album Everything I Thought It Was, out today, included a Tiny Desk Concert, where the singer nearly set a record for most musicians crammed into one of the NPR sessions.
Timberlake and his band of 14 musicians and backup vocalists crammed into the cubicle-sized space to perform seven tracks. “I forget how many of us there are. Y’all really lived up to the name ‘Tiny Desk,'” Timberlake quipped mid-set. “Yesterday, trying to get all of us in here was like a game of Tetris,...

Justin Timberlake dusted off his dancing shoes and microphone for one of his first live performances in almost four years on Wednesday night, taking the stage at the grand opening of the Fontainebleau Las Vegas.

A crying emoji and a drawing of a river. The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. A collage of nineties boy bands. These were the clues Coco Jones provided her fans with when teasing the remix of “ICU,” her breakthrough single released last October. They didn’t point towards the artists many fans thought would be tapped to revamp the song, like Jazmine Sullivan or Usher, but its actual featured guest, Justin Timberlake, knows a thing or two about creating a soulful R&b duet, too.

FX’s latest docuseries opened on a high note, the network reveals. According to multi-platform ratings, the “Dear Mama” debut scored FX’s most watched premiere for an unscripted series ever. The show opened on FX on April 21 and became available to stream the following day on Hulu, which combined for the record setting performance.
From director Allen Hughes, the five-part docuseries explores the lives and legacies of mother and son, Afeni and Tupac Shakur. A renowned revolutionary, Afeni became a feminist figure of the ’70s, a female leader in the movement amidst the macho milieu of the Black Panther Party. Tupac, a rapper and poet, also became a political visionary, philosopher and one of the greatest rap artists of all time. “Their story chronicles the possibilities and contradictions of the United States from a time of revolutionary fervor to Hip Hop culture’s most ostentatious decade,” reads the official description.

We were waiting to see which European country would be first to announce before publishing our famous Oscar submission pages. But an African country surprised us by being first up to bat. Word is in that Algeria will submit Papicha as their Oscar entry this year.
Papicha centers on a teenager (her nickname being the title) who dreams of being a fashion designer despite conservative bans. The film, a debut from the 41 year-old director Mounia Meddour, premiered at Cannes. No word yet on Us distribution. This is the second consecutive submission from Algeria by a female director. Yesterday afternoon, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences announced which movies will be competing to win the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Feature. This first long list marks an important benchmark in the season. Yes, we can actually begin narrowing things down. To be fair, this is a category that doesn’t get the attention of Best Picture or Best Actor/Best Actress, but it’s still a big deal. The Academy has narrowed things down to 87 films, just shy of the record set last year. That many countries submitting movies for Oscar consideration is wonderful, especially since I’ve seen a handful of these and they’re largely excellent. The only notable exclusion was that Italy did not choose Happy as Lazarro to be their selection, despite the backing of Martin Scorsese and Netflix. That country opted for Dogman from Matteo Garrone, instead. Aside from that, it...

France has selected Emmanuel Finkiel’s Memoir of War as its official selection for the Oscars’ Foreign Language film race. The pic, which Finkiel adapted from Marguerite Duras’ semi-autobiographical 1944 novel set in Nazi-occupied Paris, stars Mélanie Thierry in a story of love, loss, and perseverance against the backdrop of war.
Music Box Films holds U.S. rights to Memoir of War and released it in theaters last month.
The film came out on top on a shortlist that included Gaspar Noé’s Cannes buzz title Climax, the late Claude Lanzmann’s Les Quatre Sœurs, Mademoiselle De Joncquières by Emmanuel Mouret, and Xavier Legrand’s Jusqu’à La Garde. Updated with additional release date info: Gustav Möller’s The Guilty, which won this year’s Sundance Film Festival World Cinema Audience Award, has been selected by Denmark as the country’s official entry into the Oscar Foreign Language Film race.
The thriller, Möller’s directorial debut, was acquired by Magnolia Pictures in Park City and is hitting U.S. theaters October 19 in 25 markets. It next screens at Fantastic Fest which launches today.
The film centers on a police officer (Jakob Cedergren), who, when demoted to desk work, expects a sleepy beat as an emergency dispatcher. That changes when he answers a panicked phone call from a kidnapped woman who then disconnects abruptly. Confined to the police station, he is forced to use others as his eyes and ears as the severity of the crime slowly becomes more clear, with all the action set in his single location.

Justin Timberlake kicked off his Man of the Woods Tour Tuesday at Toronto's Air Canada Centre—and his fans couldn't believe it finally happened. Literally, one of Timberlake's fans looked completely shocked to be so close to the 37-year-old entertainer. Who can blame her? Timberlake performed both older and newer songs, singing "Filthy," "Midnight Summer Jam," "LoveStoned," "SexyBack," "Man of the Woods," "Higher Higher," "Senorita," "Suit & Tie," "My Love," "Cry Me a River," "Mirrors," "Drink You Away," "Flannel," "Until the End of Time," "Morning Light," "What Goes...

Justin Timberlake brought the crowd to their feet during the 2018 Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show in Minneapolis Sunday. The singer whipped through his own hits, singing bits of "Filthy," "Rock Your Body," "Señorita," "SexyBack," "My Love," "Cry Me a River," "Suit & Tie," "Until the End of Time," "Mirrors" and "Can't Stop the Feeling!" But it was his cover of Prince's "I Would Die 4 U"—along with a pre-recorded video of the late singer, displayed on a projection screen—that made headlines. Before the performance, amid premature complaints on social media, Prince's friend, Sheila E., said she'd talked to Timberlake...

Justin Timberlake made a mistake when he didn’t invite Janet Jackson to be part of his 2018 Super Bowl Lii halftime show on Sunday, Feb. 4. When we asked you to review his solo performance, only 31% of you rated it excellent. A whopping 42% of you judged it to be just okay and 27% thought it no good and that the Super Bowl should be just about football. If you haven’t cast your vote in the poll do so at the bottom of this post and then be sure to sound off in the comments section.
Timberlake had been a surprise guest on Jackson’s infamous 2004 Super Bowl appearance. At the end of their duet of his hit single “Rock Your Body,” he ripped off her jacket a little too vigorously, exposing her right breast. The resulting “wardrobe malfunction” has haunted her ever since.

Justin Timberlake was the only act on the 2018 Super Bowl Lii halftime show on Sunday, Feb. 4. Rumor had been that his 2004 Super Bowl singing partner Janet Jackson would make a surprise appearance but that was not to be. Bet that made the NBC censors happy as they would have feared another “wardrobe malfunction.”
Timberlake took to the stage in the middle of U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis for a 15-minute show at about 5:15 p.m. Pt/ 8:15 p.m. Et. That marked the halfway mark of Super Bowl Lii between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots.

Justin Timberlake made an interesting — and controversial — choice at the Super Bowl Lii.
The Grammy winner, 37, hit the field at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis to headline the Pepsi Halftime show, performing a slew of hits from his nearly 20-year musical career.
Wearing Stella McCartney and “Sblii” Air Jordan III sneakers, Timberlake launched into “Filthy,” his first single off of the new Man of the Woods album. The medley also included 2002’s “Rock Your Body” and “Cry Me a River” from Justified as well as 2006’s “SexyBack,” “My Love” and “Until the End of Time” from FutureSex/LoveSounds.
