Mania is the latest film to be directed by Jessica Cameron, which has been selected to play at the Horror-on-Sea Film Festival on Saturday 20th January. I got chance to talk to Jessica and ask her a few questions about what we can expect from Mania, the inspirations behind the story and the difficulties of working on an independent film.
What can we expect from Mania?
Mania is a lesbian love story which has been described as a cross between Thelma and Louise (1991) and Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986) which I think is an accurate description. It’s about these women who have been in a relationship for a couple of years. They are madly, passionately, deeply in love and unfortunately, one of the women suffers from Mania. Circumstances in the first five minutes of the film cause anxiety to spike and shit happens. Her lover’s reaction is...

I first covered Truth or Dare back in April of 2013 when the teaser trailer for the film dropped. Now, nearly four years later, the movie has released and I’ve finally had a chance to view it.
Truth or Dare is the directorial debut of Jessica Cameron. Horror fans are most likely familiar with Cameron through her horror acting roles. This time around she’s behind the camera and the result is a pretty stellar debut feature film.
Four years ago Cameron told me “One of my favorite things about this project is that it goes to so many of the dark places that people fear.” It’s safe to say that she accomplished that with Truth or Dare.
Truth or Dare stars Ryan Kiser (House of Manson, Crossbreed), Jessica Cameron (Mania, American Guinea Pig: The Song of Solomon), Heather Dorff (An Ending, Red Eye...

If there’s ever a phrase that will have me instantly reaching for my wallet it’s “a Scott Adkins film…” Honestly, nine times out of ten I will buy an Adkins film without so much as seeing a trailer. Why? Well because for me, Adkins is keeping the Dtv dream alive, picking up the action hard-man mantle from 90s pioneers like Jeff Speakman, Olivier Gruner, Gary Daniels and in particular Jeff Wincott, one of the only other true action heroes to have the same perfect blend of fighting skills, charisma and acting chops as Adkins.

Scream Queen Jessica Cameron has just announced that her latest project – which she describes as her “first artistic horror adventure”, An Ending, which she will produce and co-direct with screenwriter Josh Chiara, begins shooting at the end of April. To accompany the announcement Cameron has release this fantastic – and rather suggestive (or am I reading to much into That shape in the background?) – poster art, by Maxwell Jacques Leclere. Check it our below…
Cameron will also star in the film as Florence, a woman who wakes up in a nightmare world after being rushed to a hospital for unknown reasons. An Ending also stars Heather Dorff as Collette, a woman who has been in the nightmare world much longer than Florence, and Ali Ferda as Molly, a woman coming to terms with crushing guilt. As the three women are stalked through the corridors of the nightmare world by something lurking in the shadows,...

Over the past year I reviewed a lot of indie horror films, some of them really good, some of them just Ok, and some of them really, really bad. The following isn't exactly a best of the year list, because I haven't watched every single film that was released, played at a film festival, or completed filming this year. Rather, these are the best movies that I reviewed for MoreHorror.com in 2015, and are all movies that I can recommend without hesitation.
Mania is directed by Jessica Cameron and stars Ellie Church. Olalla is written and directed by Amy Hesketh and stars Amy Hesketh, Jac Avila, Mila Joya, and Erix Antoine. Headless is directed by Arthur Cullipher, written by Nathan Erdel, and stars Shane Beasley, Kelsey Carlisle, Dave parker and Ellie Church. Produced by Mem Ferda (The Devil's Double), Mania follows two lesbian lovers, on the run after a brutal murder. The film centrally stars Tristan Risk (American Mary), Ellie Church (Time to Kill) and Carlo Mendez. An update on the film is hosted here. Ferda and director Cameron have contracted to work on a total of three films together. Writer Jonathan Scott Higgins will also take part in this professional team-up. And, Ferda has something to say about the film's tone: "Jessica and I worked from a very dark palette for Mania. Parts are brutally blunt and may not be to everyone’s taste. As you all know, I am a huge fan of the directorial work of Jessica Cameron, and loved her first feature film, Truth or Dare (review). Cameron is finishing up the final edit of Mania (Produced by Mem Ferda, Gunned Down, Pusher), her second feature as a director, and she took a few moments out of her busy schedule to answer some burning questions I had about the film. Check out the the first teaser trailer for Mania below the interview and details.
Jw: I know from watching movies with you and talking about them that you like movies with a lot of nudity and sex, and now with Mania it looks like you have directed one. What is it about nudity and sex in movies that you find appealing?
Jc: Ha Ha Ha! I can honestly say that no one has ever asked me that before.

Jessica Cameron (Truth or Dare) continues in horror with Mania. This "lesbian love story" gone awry now has a unique trailer. The clip features Vancouverite model and actress Tristan Risk (Bloody Mary) and up-and-comer Ellie Church. Together, these actresses, as Brooke and Mel, flee their home, after a brutal murder. The first trailer hosts a claustrophobic, gory vibe, with characters turned into bloodied mincemeat. As well, actor and producer Mem Ferda (The Devil's Double) has been attached to this feature. A preview of the film is hosted here. Ferda provides a behind-the-scenes look at the film. He states: "Mania is different. Its fresh, alarming, and draws from the sexual anxieties of early Cronenberg." Also, Ferda states that Mania is the first of three features, on which both Ferda and Cameron will collaborate. Mania is soon to release at several film festivals, now that production has completed. Fans of horror can...

Scream Queen turned director Jessica Cameron has shared the first bit of footage from her sophomore directorial vehicle Mania, which tells the story of two lesbian lovers who flee their home and travel cross country after a brutal murder. The movie stars Ellie Church (Time to Kill, Headless) in the lead role of Mel, with Tristan Risk (American Mary) co-starring as her crazed lesbian lover.
Scheduled to start the festival circuit later this year, Mania was one of three features that were filmed simultaneously while traveling across the United States in an Rv. Desolation was the other narrative feature, which is a modern hitch hiker tale in which Cameron stars along side Carlo Mendez (The Bay, The Second Coming of Christ). Kill the Pa will be the feature length documentary that chronicles the making of both movies, giving the fans an eye opening, honest look into how indie films are made.

Kill The Production Assistant is the most ambitious project to come out of the indie horror scene in recent memory, and quite possibly the most innovative use of crowd funding since filmmakers began using it to finance their projects. The promise of crowd funding has always been that fans get the chance to be a part of the movie. Jessica Cameron, Brandon Slagle, and Devanny Pinn have decided to deliver on this promise by bringing the production to the fans' home towns, and fans should be very excited.
How it works is you contribute to the project's crowd funding page, just as you would contribute to any other film, and claim your reward. But, the added twist is that for every $25 contributed from your area, a pin will be placed in your area on a map, and when the campaign ends on august 29th, the...
