Mary Pickford, Charlie Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks, D.W. Griffith and others wanted to established a Motion Picture Relief Fund in 1921, to provided financial Support for those in the entertainment community that needed it. It grew it something even bigger. Twenty years later it also included social services, heath services, its own hospital and a retirement building. In the following 96 years it has only gotten bigger and stronger.
