Horror, action and laughing in one step
zorike2 November 2013
Best slovenian production in recent year, hopefully nomination for Golden Lion in Cannes. Great performance by amateur actors on low budget with a lot of professionalism. The story takes place in slovenian region Slovenske Gorice in the countryside, where the locals live peaceful and normal live, with few exceptions though. The narrative is wrapped up in the Hitchock's perfectionism with critical moments enriched with stylish music reminiscent a bit of Tarrantino's Django unchained. The movie takes us to the story where everyone can find his own place and role but it shows us just a crucial details of normal and relaxed life that can be turned up-side down in one day, hour or even a second. However, +10 for casting, scenario and great performance. In shortly-horror, action and laughing in one step.

Excellent Horror-Comedy

I can't praise this film long enough! Masaker 2 is, without doubt, one of Boštjan Zorko's undisputed masterpieces and a true classic in horror cinema. It is a very entertaining blending of comedy and horror with a depth not usually associated with the genre and its directed with real confidence and verve. It is a film that with no doubt, will over the course of the years, manage to scare the living hell out of its audiences.

Boštjan Zorko's direction is pure excellence, giving the film a cold and atmospheric look, thus creating an unbearable sense of paranoia and terror. There are moments of sheer brilliance and exquisite perfection in this film; the horrifying maze chase is a perfect example. Every single shot is masterfully created and there are some genuinely scary scenes which will make you sit on the edge of your seat.

There is a sense of sadness in the midst of the horrific fun of 'Masaker 2' which lingers in the memory afterwards because its central characters matter and you care what happens to them - a rarity for the horror genre which marks the film out.

There are many things that make Masaker 2 a truly unique film. A movie like this hadn't been made before, and it took everyone who saw it by surprise.

This one of best horror movies to come out this year 9/10.
