Snotlout has exhausted Hookfang, his dragon, to the point where he can no longer catch fire. This increasingly worries the Riders, with Snotlout denying it and saying Hookfang is fine. Eventually, even Snotlout realises something is wrong. When Fireworms don't work, Hiccup works out what they need to do to save Hookfang. The Riders must find a cure on Fireworm Island for Hookfang before it's too late.
This is a great episode solely for the fact that we get to see the deep connection between Snotlout and Hookfang. Snotlout really begins to worry about Hookfang and we see just how deeply they really care for each other. There's a constant loss of hope in this episode and some quite upsetting scenes. We're also introduced to the Fireworms and the Fireworm Queen, both of which are kind of cool, especially the Queen. David Tennant is also back voicing Snotlout's father, Spitelout, in this one.
Rating this Snotlout-centric episode was hard, as the thing that really shines is the connection between Snotlout and Hookfang. I think an eight suits this one the most.
