WDE Turns Out To Be Less Than Avg.
douglasmcbroom26 August 2023
After last week's rather boring episode, but one that appeared to be table-setting, we get this even more boring episode that has very little relation to last weeks.' This episode was still born and really went nowhere except that 'Wags' (David Stabile) is back in high form and Chuck (Paul Giamatti) is also back in the groove.

Otherwise, it was, once again, too many smarmy cultural references and way too many winks and nods about how arrogantly smart this bunch thinks they are.

The main plot, which is the impetus for this episode's title, was totally uninteresting and forced. It was almost as if the writers and producers felt they owed 'Winston' (Will Roland) an episode, so here it is.

Wendy (Maggie Siff) is also embarking on an utterly pointless arc.

But, most of all, after teasing us last week-no 'Axe' (Damian Lewis).

It is a good show but
Saadsak30 August 2023
It is being carried by the actors. The scriptwriters seem too busy coming up with obscure quips and references to maintain the interest. In fact, the don't seem to have that much interest in the audiences. Plus, it does not work too well because most of comments refer to TV programs, which gives the impression that neither the show runner or writers have ever read a book. Which, to be fair, is a pretty good comment on most of the folk I have met in the money markets but then again, unlike Sorkin and Co, they don't pretend that they doing something clever.

But of course, most of all, the show lacks Axe. All sympathy to Damian Lewis for his lose.

WDE underrated like a small Winston
christian943 October 2023
WDE is hugely underrated by reviewers who miss the essence of the episode and get nostalgic of the glitter of the show. This episode lacks some of the iconic banter scenes, yet has 3 main strong points

-Chuck transformation and final scene of the episode glow after wise quasi-monologue

-Wag's baddass dealing with Winston in 2 scenes to redeem his mojo after feeling withering away

-Wendy's self-inquiry, doubt and real challenge about her role as a jailor in a capitalist threadmill and rat race with very good scene with competitive psychiatrist on a human scale. Amazingly well-written scene and setup.

Karem Abdul-Jabber's appearance is odd yet still works in the context of getting Chuck to see beyond and go forward.

Rewatch if you missed these 3 high level up moments of the show.

Ridiculous
ibell-6277327 August 2023
Story has reached a point where we have Axe, who mentioned he has being negotiating 'intenational arms deals', (amongst other billionaire type activities) being approached by his old gang to help stop Mike Prince from becoming President - because they are worried he is a megalomaniac! Surely the actors are embarrassed having to deliver the constant cliches and cheesy dialogue? Is this written by teenagers? Just when you think it's not possible for the writers to cram in any more cheap sport and pop culture metaphors they go next level and sledge hammer in a bizarre scene with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar giving Chuck career advice. Dialogue between them is so cringey & obviously written in a way carefully explain to the viewers at home what the hell he is talking about. I couldn't get through all of previous season but thought I'd see if things had improved for final, just keeps getting more ridiculous. There is no longer any character that any element to them that is slightly believable. Just an exercise in presenting garbage in high brow packaging.

Boooooooooooring

When Season 2 of Billions dropped, I rewatched Season 1 before watching the new season.

When Season 3 of Billions dropped, I rewatched Seasons 1 and 2 before watching the new season.

When Season 4 of Billions dropped, I rewatched Seasons 1, 2 and 3 before watching the new season.

When Season 5 of Billions dropped, I rewatched Seasons 1, 2, 3 and 4 before watching the new season.

Now after a difficult splitted Season 6 midly entertained, I'm watching this season finale with a small hope of reliving past glory and yet here I am, pausing mid episode to write this disappointing review... third episode and 7 to go... there is still hope...
