Extremely Immersive but Ultimately Underwhelming

Beautifully presented with tension and movement, Washerwoman is masterfully acted and portrayed by Katie Lynn Stoddard and Bonnie Jean Tyer. The makeup work and cinematography is awesome with the landscapes becoming characters in themselves.

The premise initially is straight forward with multiple subtle touches of intrigue that become more compelling as the film develops. It's poetry in motion, and I love the use of light through the trees and yellows mixing with the faint greens.

However by the halfway point the narrative becomes too twisted and confusing with long moments of artistic exposition that bends its story around so much that it becomes too tedious to follow or care. Instead of relying on the subtly and meaningfulness that it began with, it throws in so much supernatural undead nonsense that it destroys its own context. It is a shame as the ending did show some real promise and if it kept itself more grounded then the psychology would be been more believable.
