Entertaining Values Oriented Win

So often movies that lack story substitute with effects and big names. This movie was a delightful exception that had a first production effort worthy of many more movies. The movie is a mix of the crossing of three elderly gents and a delightful waitress who chooses to overlook their cranky presentation to give them the best of service. It's one more movie that goes into my watch it again list.

The movie takes place in a local dinner mostly where the three lead elder men meet every Wednesday for breakfast. The timing in the flow of the movie is superb as it draws you in at the right pace to where you forget the stage (in theater terms) and get wrapped up in the actors. It will take your heart for a genuine stroll into the world of those who have gone before us and are nearing the end of their journey in a loving and delightful way.

Heinrich, Nathan, and Ricky

New server at a local coffee shop Stacey Bradshaw sort of adopts these three 90 something men who come in for breakfast every Wednesday morning. They and you are conscious now that the sands are running low in the hourglass for all three and they could take the big trip any minute.

So they do and The Wednesday Breakfast Club gets slimmer and slimmer. Young Ms. Bradshaw learns quite a bit from them, mostly that if you listen, really listen they have some remarkable stories to tell.

A heartfelt sentimental film, highly recommended.

Awful even by Christian movie standards
krader-imdb19 April 2022
If you think watching paint dry is exciting and emotionally engaging you might like this movie. This is a rare case where I would give a movie zero stars if that were possible. Bad acting. Bad dialog. Bad directing. Watching three old men walk slowly for three minutes is not my idea of an engaging scene.

The Wednesday Morning Breakfast Club

The Wednesday Morning Breakfast Club is one of the most moving, and revealing films that I have ever watched. I will never view the elderly in the same light. The story line gripped my heart. The writing of, Amanda Barber was superb, as was the directing by Justin Barber. Whoever did the casting did a wonderful job. The actors, the talented David Cade, and the older gentleman, Heinrich Roth, Nathan Goldwin, and Ricky Lombardo worked well with the two young and talented actresses, Stacey Bradshaw, and Amanda Barber. Their performances couldn't have been any better. The film reveals what most of us gave up on, or have lost in the past decades. I for one was compelled by The Wednesday Morning Breakfast Club to come out of my complacency concerning the elderly among us. The behind the scenes interviews are just a fabulous as the film itself. I plan to purchase this film for as many people as I possibly can. I also plan to donate this great film to my local library. I highly recommend The Wednesday Morning Breakfast Club to people of all ages, young and old alike. Families, and Church groups would do well to view it together.

Terrible Acting
cathymccurdy3 December 2022
How did this short even get picked up by Netflix? This is possibly the worse movie I've ever seen. Played by people with no acting experience and photography and music was even worse. Tried to watch it til the end to see if it ever got better. No it didn't.

It was amateur at best and we kept wondering if perhaps it was a student film project but there was no indication that it was.

The only part that we didn't wince through was played by the three old men. They can be forgiven for no acting skills.

I feel like we wasted 55 minutes and cannot get the mindless repetitive music out of my head.

Don't watch this. Watch anything but this waste of time.

Loved this movie, fantastic, family friendly

I thoroughly enjoyed this film.

This is a film that I would heartily recommend for families with children of all ages.

It gave so much to think about, such as the biblical principles of honoring elders, being patient, and being generous, and the film accomplished this through laughter, tears, and even a moment of heart-stopping action.

The musical arrangements were fantastic, always so perfectly timed and well executed.

But, I have to say, my favorite part was watching Megan (Stacey Bradshaw) grow over the course of the movie. It was very interesting to see how that was portrayed though her own narration. In the beginning she moves past things that seem difficult (the breakfast club, a group of three persnickety older men) and grows to not simply deal with their crankiness, but come to love them, and be moved by their lives.

I shan't spoil it, but get tissues. This is a beautifully crafted story, wonderfully done, and it will leave you with a heart full of thankfulness for the time you have today.

Beautiful

Maybe it's our ages, 75 and 82, but by the end of this short film I was crying and my husband had tears in his eyes. He never said a word throughout the entire film. He usually talks through everything but he was so engrossed. It was so realistic. We both could deeply identify with the characters, their lives, losses of many loved ones and their lives in general. It was a pleasure to see a film that showed a young woman actually caring about other people. She showed an interest in their lives and learned so much about the joys and sorrows that make up our lives. I can see where it wouldn't be everyone's piece of cake, but in a way, I think that's sad.

A poignant film about the older folks in our lives
turgon6325 August 2013
This short film (50 min.) is a winner! It draws you in and makes you think about older folks life experiences. All of us, but especially the younger generation would do well to pay more attention to the older folks in their life. This film teaches us to learn as much as we can from our elders while we have the opportunity. If you are looking for a movie with a lot of action and/or special effects, this isn't the film for you. The filmmakers have kept this one short and simple and to the point. This little gem is about relationships. I thought the pacing of the film was just right. The characters are a little quirky, but to me that seems very true to life. I think one of the things which I like about this movie is that most folks could relate to someone in their lives who are like the characters presented here. I especially enjoyed the soundtrack in this film as it seems to fit very well with the flow. Overall, I would say this film gets a thumbs up by me. While it is not perfect, I still have to say, "Well done!"

Absolutely charming, heartfelt, and inspiring.

Think of The Wednesday Morning Breakfast Club as a Ron Howard film without a Ron Howard budget. Set aside your usual big screen expectations, your need for speed, violence, and profane words and deeds, and watch this from the perspective of someone sharing a true-to-life, heartwarming story with you. These are not phone-it-in Hollywood actors, so there is a wonderful, genuine authenticity to the performances that's often missing in big budget films. I absolutely loved it, cried three times, and may watch it again. Thank you, production team, cast, and crew, for making this lovely film! Some last names pop up multiple times in the credits, so it appears that several members of several families were involved in multiple elements of making the film, making it easy to imagine what a deeply collaborative effort this project must have been.

Compelling and Inspiring
freedbythecross17 March 2014
I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this film. It was tastefully done, well written, and nicely acted.

Simple, unique, and relatable.

While it may not be technically impeccable, it holds up good morals, and a strong story that was compelling and inspiring.

All in all the story carried me into the lives of the characters giving a touching experience that will not soon be forgotten.

I would recommend this to anyone.

Definitely going to watch again!

This movie clubs such a simple, direct, and beautiful evoking of childhood memories
abcalllegacy14 December 2022
This movie, the Wednesday morning breakfast club, evokes childhood memories of one's grandparents and how little a child appreciates the value of life and how to appreciate every moment possible of sharing with people you love. It reminds us so much a regret I'm not valuing and appreciating more yes so much more the people in our lives that were close to us as we were children growing up. The memories I have of my grandparents have never been involved so probably as his movie has done. Congratulations to all concerned who made this special work possible and to be discovered on prime TV. When I'm film causes the evocation of such strong feelings and memories is absolutely a work of art. No criticism of this film could be made because it would miss the whole point it is not here for us to criticize it is here for us to enjoy artistic creations.

A sweet film
nsuntzeff4 April 2024
A charming movie filmed on location in town in Michigan. It is simple - a young woman waitress begins to understand the deepness of the lives of three old men. I did not realize it was a "Christian film" whatever that is, until the credits. It is slow, the acting is not flashy, the people look like normal people. It may not be for everyone, but for me, it was the best movie I have seen in a while. It touches the same theme as John Prine's "Hello In There" song, except here the young woman does say hello in there to these three elderly men.

It left us with a warm feeling that one can be humane and happy without deceit.
