An intriguing if overall really flawed genre effort
kannibalcorpsegrinder2 January 2024
In the middle of a big snowstorm, a small mountain town sheriff and his crew grow alarmed when a series of strange attacks reveals a rampaging grizzly bear despite being out-of-season for such antics, and when it's revealed the creature is stalking the community must try to stop it.

This one wasn't too bad but did have some issues. One of the main factors involved in this one is the rather intriguing concept at play here where the film acts more as a snapshot of the town in the midst of the bear's rampage. That everyone around the town is aware of how out of character it is for the bear to be doing what it's doing, the rest of the time here is spent on the build-up to its rampage where we get a pretty solid idea of the town members and their lives in the community. With the freezing snow-covered ground and remote, isolated conditions prominent throughout here, this all creates the kind of intriguing setup that provides a fine grounding for the idea of the bear coming to seek revenge on the town for the destruction of its habitat. Still, there are some major problems throughout here. The main overriding drawback with this one is the film's ambitious story means there's nothing really here for genre fans who are expecting something ornate or spectacular to happen. This one never shows the main bear as all we get are aftermath shots of the violence which resembles indeterminate crime-scene splatter as every attack utilizes the formula of someone finding it's there, but it fades to black before anything can happen. Not showing anything here in the attacks and featuring all sorts of inept-looking filmmaking with ugly shaky-camera shots or awkward transitions that highlight how low a budget this has. With more shots of people talking than anything else in here, this one can be quite troublesome.

Rated Unrated/R: Language, Violence, and Brief Nudity.

It's hard to believe this move was made in 2023. The acting is painful. The dialogue is extremly outdated, cheesy, and dry. The graphics are even worse. There is really no suspense. The budget for this movie was so low I don't even know why it was made. 99 percent talking one percent grizzly bear. Anyone who likes this movie is probably smoking that gas. I definitely wish I would not have watched it as it wasted an hour and some minutes off my life. It definitely is the worst movie I've seen in a really long time. And the snow looks fake too, the acting is terrible, the grizzly was in the same position each time on film....

Low budget animal horror

The concept was good, the cinematgraphy was nice, ohhhhh the acting was so poor. The lack of actual grizzly attach sequences just displays the bare bones budget of this movie.

Some good character moments between the two protagonists, but the acting really brought down those segments. Almost zero sfx for the blood and gore. But I wasn't bored with this movie, so I'll give it credit for that. Oh and this is a movie with and environmental message. The bear is pissed that his habitat has been polluted so he goes on a rampage of revenge on humankind. And how does a grizzly attack and kill humans armed with rifles and shotguns. Were they all that slow on the draw?

Wow...

A really low budget (and I mean reaaallllllyyyyyy low budget) animal b-horror movie. This is one of those films that seems to have been made a student film project or by a family-friend group with a member who had recently purchased a video camera and wanted to get some mileage out of it. Poorly made and poorly written. The CGI bear has less screen time than a kaiju in the Monsterverse and looks to have been quickly produced in blender. There is a single hilariously notable scene where a college student seduces an older cop, talking about how much of an alpha, primal male he is. It is very funny, and is of course followed by an awkward, simulated foreplay scene in a motel bedroom.

Fun when you have nothing better to watch.

Lighten up people, its a low budget B movie

Warning: Spoilers
I'm a fan of watching crappy B movies from time to time, because sometimes it's nice to just watch a flick that you know will not challenge your intellect, or just to have something going on in the background.

There are zero special effects and the acting is, well B movie quality at best. Any attempt at suspense is short lived and below average.

There are no real clear action shots of the Grizzly, just shaky blurry stills of what looks to be a bear which are overlap with what seemed to be the same 10 second audio track loop of growling.

There are also attempts at humor, but in keeping with the rest of the film, they fall short. For those who care, there are gratuitous nude scenes and gun play, both which are awkward and poorly executed.

So, why would anyone want to watch it? I can't answer that, but if you are a B movie fan or someone that doesn't mind low budget sub par cinema, I'd add it to the watch list.

Really?

Anyone that would give this film anything more than a zero is smoking the devils lettuce. Was this made with a cell phone by people on drugs? My God almighty, what has America come to? How something like this could be put on demand and or on a venue like to be or any other streaming platform is an absolute mystery to me. Apparently anybody with any kind of made in China cheap digital camera and 50 bucks can make a movie. I only gave it one star because I had to. I hate to hurt the feelings of the guy that made this but it can't be helped. Although there are hundreds of movies like this on streaming venues nowadays, and it's just a mystery to me, how this kind of absolute garbage can be put forth as a movie. The way these scenes played out gave me such a nauseated feeling I considered going to the hospital.

Yeah, I know most people will not like it.

It so happens I am not one of those people. Maybe because I live in the middle of nowhere, where walking among trees in the middle of winter is as realistic as it gets in this movie, for people like me. We don't get to see what we would expect in a movie of that name, but I don't care. It's a very low key movie that most people will not get. I had a lot of fun during the scene where the pretty young woman is hitting on the old guy, until he finally gets it. LOL Her explanation is something I understand being a retired psychologist. Men have changed a lot throughout the years. (Don't want to offend guys, if you are watching this movie, it doesn't apply to you.) LOL.
